Yes I noticed that when trying to find one myself over the years.. plenty of ‘lifestyle’ TH-cam friendly channels that don’t exactly show the full picture and encouraging folks to live the dream. They’ll all end up here eventually 😆
Nice job, but why did you cut the cables? very easy to pull them out from below and reattached them again. As you might have seen that there are corrosion on the bottom of the shaft, that might be the reason for not getting the shaft all the way down. I had new shafts done in 316 SS. For the out haul I did the inner diameter on the shaft a bit larger to avoid it getting stuck, now much easier to pull out the inner shaft. I have not seen the video of servicing the out haul gearbox, but I can imaging the problem, when I did it, in the end I had to replace it as both the lids broke when trying to pull the knee shaft.
I did consider that Paul but as I’d had trouble re-mousing coax cables in the past I was worried I wouldn’t get the cable back in again. Plus I wanted an easy way to detach the motor in the future in case I needed to do more work on it.. which proved to be the case when one of the brushes disintegrated and needed drilling out. Yes the outhaul was a nightmare.. I had to have the end cap re-built as the it fell apart after a long messy battle to remove the motor :/
Love the patience with which you do all these repairs..👏
the channel solely contribute to boat repair is rare, well done
