The tidal flats of Cordova is much larger than the total land area of Cordova itself. That means, the tidal flats are so precious to many locals who derive their livelihood from its bounty such as baby eels, sea shells, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and many kinds of fish that they usually sell to local markets both in Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu City. The fish is so abundant in Cordova waters because there are huge mangrove forests scattered all over that serve as breeding or spawning ground for many fishes such as rabbit fish, parrot fish, spine foot, anchovies, and trevallies.
I am from Cebu and know that this delicacy has been there way before I was born. Seeing that those are baby eels.. i hope they are not over fished and the community in cordoba does something about preserving them since this is going to be their source of income in their and their next generation’s lifetime.
