Chanthaburi (จันทบุรี), Thailand and the entire eastern coast of Thailand are known for incredible seafood, and I was especially excited for this day, to meet Uncle Tom (ป้าหลุยลุงทอม), the Oyster King of Thailand!
Ban Ta Chaelab Pier (ท่าเรือบ้านท่าแฉลบ) - From Chanthaburi town, we drove to the pier to meet up with Uncle Tom who would pick us up in his boat. Uncle Tom is an amazing man, friendly and care, and he knows his seafood.
First, we took the boat to Uncle Tom’s oyster plot in the brackish open waters of the bay. He pulled out giant strands of oysters soaking in the salty water. It was pretty cool to see.
Then we headed over to Uncle Tom’s floating raft restaurant where his wife was already busy preparing a huge Thai seafood meal. She cooked half a dozen dishes, including the massive oysters. The food was awesome, the setting was perfect. This was one of the best experiences I had in Chanthaburi, Thailand!

Never thought that watching someone eat would bring me such happiness
I remember watching this video as soon as it came out. Then I left for Asia to visit home in early july and did a trip to Thailand and had raw oysters and i remembered this video and put all the toppings on top and it was MARVELOUS

Mark, you humanize every place, every individual and you show so much grace in everything you do. The fact that you bring your family along makes every adventure something that anyone can picture doing. Mark, I am always amazed at the places that you go and all the great food you feast on but the best thing about you is your reaction and appreciation of everything these great countries you visit have to offer. You're so genuine and sincere and that is so refreshing to see in this world we live in today. I am married to a lovely Vietnamese lady and we visit Vietnam every year and we do a little feasting of our own. Southeast Asia has such a variety of food. This is the reason, it is unique, it never looks like a restaurant bur more like a home cooked place, but I believe that they must be charging for all the food and boat tour. May be a new concept or a new restaurant in making.

You should come to Denmark, you can eat as many as you want for free haha. The seas are clean and oysters fresh. Picking oysters in the west coast of Denmark is as easy as picking apples. I've made a short silly documentary about this :)

I discovered Mark Wiens about a month a ago and now i cant wait to get to work to binge watch all of his videos.. Saturday mornings while kids are still asleep with a cup of coffee also.. Its the purity for me...LOVE THIS GUY!
The floating bamboo restaurant is really like being a king in a small island and having all natural wonders from heaven with the family. The crab is really a kickback dish slowing taking the meat out and enjoy it all on the water with sea breeze.
He is always smiling and that's so precious.

Those are most plump fresh and I am sure delicious oysters ever. I’ve seen palm sized ones, but I can tell just by looking at these -that they were oceany fresh/tasting.
