Converting a Classic Truck from a Long Bed to a Short Bed - Stacey David's Gearz S7 E5

Stacey picks up right where he left-off a few weeks ago, and proceeds to install a brand new short bed, on the chassis of a truck that was born a LONG BED. That's right with the cutting done the next step is to assemble a new short bed using all new, aftermarket parts. You hear people say, "If it was that easy, everybody would be doing it." Well, it is that easy, and a lot of people are doing it...and YOU need to be one of them! Now... chop to it!

Not a mechanic (put can keep my truck running)… but what I am is 32 yr carpenter and I’m a finish carpenter casework/mill work.
For wood on truck bed I would use an epoxy to seal the bottom and the channels where the the rails sit. For the exposed upper. I’d highly recommend a stain w UV protection and a marine grade clear w a UV protection.
He is right it is very important to seal every inch of the wood and using the right product to seal it that will last.

My 1st car was a 1970 GMC half ton pickup truck long bed with a manual transmission and steering

Mine was a 1970 CST/10 with a big block 402, TH 400 and a 12 bolt with posi and 4.10:1. No Ac though it has power steering. 4 wheel drum brakes. It was my dad's truck and he gave it to me in 1997. I still have it, but I blew up the 402. It has a 350 in it now.
I almost lost it in the caldor fire in California about 18 months ago. It really motivated me to start restoring it. I just lost my dad to mesothelioma in August so I really want to finish it for him.

Yes you can. 88- 98 short box will fit quite nicely and body lines are unbelievably correct.
