And this is what I miss with the older format of the shows. They take you step by step and they show you what they are doing. What they have done. They do not just say what they are planning and next scene have it done. Kevin and Ryan are the best hosts, Trucks or whatever they needed it later ever had.
Soooooo glad ya'll didn't do a sad patina paint job these trucks look so much better with a paint job that is fresh and uniform. Great work. I have owned 3 of these body styles and are my favorite of all the Chevy trucks .
This is an old episode back in the day when people had taste and patina wasn't a main stream thing. Patina probably started as I can't afford paint to high end builders deciding they can save the labor and expense of a paint job but still charge you the price as if they had.
@@Averagegunenthusiast That's honestly the first thing that came to my mind, don't get me wrong, there are some cars that patina looks amazing on, but when I see most cars with patina It just seems lazy like they were trying to avoid the paint work
how much money did you throw at that thing to try and make it look cool... under all that body filler and paint theres a story, a story you're covering up
I agree this truck looks fantastic but owning or working on a truck or car redone to this magnitude is stress x 10000. A friend of mine had a 70 something square body that had a billion dollar paint job on the body and frame. He had rubber hoses over his ratchet handles to name one extreme he went to protecting his cream puff. I absolutely hated working on that thing. Just replacing the exhaust was a nightmare. Ooh ooh careful watch it dont hit the frame, oh my god did you chip it. But then he treated his 70k suburban like a demolition car. Besides the look I can see why patina is popular. It's for cars to be genuinely enjoyed and not babied like jesus blessed the crown jewels
I had a 67 small back window C10. Worked on that truck for 20 years while serving in the military only to end up selling it in a divorce 😳. What a sad day that was. Truck looked 👍🏾 great too. Did not mind loosing that wife but heart crushed 💔 loosing that truck. Truck never did me wrong😪. A true Soldiers 🚚 truck...😁🇺🇸
Guys did a great job on that truck. Only negative its not a manual. Love the old styling of both Chevy and Ford back in the day. Hope you guys do more of these kind of truck builds.
Love this truck....little trick with the exhaust welds is to use a flat file first to take the hump of the weld down flat and then sand and polish....spent many years welding stainless boat rails and polishing them... just something I learned about 25 years ago.
I built my 72 GMC, it was a long bed converted to short bed, I was able to get an entire replacement bed for it. I did close to what they did here in the 2 hours, took me about 5 1/2 years in my garage.
Another great tool to use when installing Boom Mats is a thick or folded rag, preferably clean of course. It gives you the ability to slide your hands around while pressing the mats down, especially around the usual bends/shaped metal found in vehicle cabs.
I had a 62 long narrow bed with 235 six in high school. Red and white it was a great pick up. Those coil springs and swim arm rear end could handle wash boards like a dream. My 51 would be in the ditch at those speeds.
I agree. So many in the comments are hating on the original look. While I agree a new paint job looks fantastic it has the side effect of making its owner weird where they baby it more than anything else they own. Makes it a complete nightmare to work on for fear of a microscopic chip on the frame.
Great project! Not too crazy, not rediculously expensive, something a real truck enthusiast could enjoy for years. Beautiful. Does it still look good 12 years later?
I prefer this C10 build to Stacy David's Copperhead C10. Jmo. This one seems more "everyman" and keeps the truck more original, save the chopped bed. Beautiful build. Love the color.
Love these old trucks ! The short bed looks better but the long bed drives & rides better in my opinion ! My first truck in mid 80 S was 62 Chevy custom ! Have a 66 LWB & 68 SWB now !!! 😁👍✌
I had a 1964 c 20 long wheel base with a 1963 327 corvette motor loved that old truck when I left the states I sold it to a 18 year old school kid he bugged me 2 years to buy it from me. I told him to bring a 1000 dollars and it’s his.
I would've kept the LWB; opted2 shorten the bed extend the cab w/2suicides, larger fuel tank(s), FI, EPS rack, carpet delete, pwr panoramic moon roof, modern 8coil ignition, roller cam& rockers or small block LS, alumacoat headers w/locks, 8spd ZF Automatic, darker bed woods, spray in bed liner, sliding rear window, hi-mount LED 3rd brake light, nano grapheme tinted windows, 250V LiPo battery system, electric A/C compressor &cold air induction. I like the 4Wheel discs, V8 retention &OEM color matching.
Should’ve mocked up the suspension and notched the frame before the blast and powder coat. Also should’ve left the patina. This must be an old show. Tommy had long hair and looked young.
For polishing on the wheel. My dad taught me NOT to hold your piece at a 90 degree angle to the wheel. Instead, hold it at an angle to the wheel and you won't launch your part!

I think I figured out why they did it this way. You said it yourself, that the on-cycle time must be sufficiently long for the freezer to work properly given the path the refrigerant takes. Based on the sped-up video showing the progressing coldness through the evaporator, it lakes at least 10 minutes for the full length of the evaporator coil to become cold. By placing the sensor bulb near the end of the evaporator line, it ensures the on cycle time lasts at least long enough to give the freezer time to freeze. Another effect of this placement is that it can indirectly respond to a rise in freezer temperature as well as refrigerator temperature. When the compressor is off and the system is equalized, it’s using the refrigerant line as a capillary tube from the freezer compartment and effectively averages the thermostat’s reading between the two compartments. Still not ideal, but considering the low prices of mini-fridges, understandable. And clever!
If were to have one. I want the improved suspension and abs and air.. that is it.. newer stuff is nice, but the classics are the best ever.. my grandpa had a 66 chevy long bed.. with a 6 cylinder and a 3 speed on the column. it was a work horse of a truck.. blue and white..!!!
It's been 12 years sense this was finished. Be nice to see it now, and how it held up in that time... I would have ditched the green, and at no time would I put bags on it. Thankfully, that trend has played out.
@57:28 he says make sure your air bleeders are pointed up or your going to have a whole Lotta trouble getting air out of the brake lines. Then immediately mounts it down.
I wonder if the Eastwood Rhodite compound that Kevin used on the windshield, will get rid of minor windshield pitting? And if it can be done with the windshield still installed?

I understand the patina look has its place, but in my opinion, you just can't beat the look of brand new beautiful paint.

One of the best looking 👀 pickups I have ever seen. Well done gentlemen!!
Im old school and did a lot a fabricating and rebuilds.
Its good to see the hobby carried on in good hands
I was the parts cleaning guy as a kid. Gasoline. No gloves. No mask. Just loving every minute with my father. 👍🏼🙏🏼
That is Kevin Stetz from Eastwood. He is a excellent body and paint man.
Midg buffed the old windshield so much it even got a factory made tint on the top edge.
Tommy's hair! Flowing golden locks.
@bloughme5947 dude I was shocked to see that. My boy got the locks 😂
Would have a been a bitchen mullet

TOTALLY AWESOME BUILD!!!! I LOVE THE 1960 to 1966 C10'S. YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAILY DRIVER!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!!
When you're done you could drive it right onto the scales at the scrapyard, after ruining it and cutting it in half to make it look like a Volkswagen

wow watching this and seeing tommy rocking the mulet was cool
Oh man. So easy to work on for a mechanic. Tough. Timeless grocery getter. Tool guy ride. Splendid.
I would have painted the Chevrolet letters in the tailgate but gosh what a great project.
My first truck was 64 short bed. Miss that truck.
Man, I thought I knew but I ended up learning so much!!! Love your video guys. Thank you very much!!!
I built my 72 GMC, it was a long bed converted to short bed, I was able to get an entire replacement bed for it. I did close to what they did here in the 2 hours, took me about 5 1/2 years in my garage.
i guess i weird i like long bed better and they ride great to ,1964 step side long bed that mine
Hell of a build! I plan on daily driving my truck once I finish the build!

It’s a shame that they didn’t leave the original paint, I know it wasn’t the style then but it just looked so good!
I agree. So many in the comments are hating on the original look. While I agree a new paint job looks fantastic it has the side effect of making its owner weird where they baby it more than anything else they own. Makes it a complete nightmare to work on for fear of a microscopic chip on the frame.
It's really a new hand built truck , period !!
Great looking truck !
I have always liked thatera truck with Rally wheels on them.
My preference would have been put a 4 or 5-speed manual transmission. I love that paint job. Needs a headliner and Air Conditioning.
My Fathers first truck was a 49 Chevy, total frame off restoration in 58. My father did the body work and paint Then he bought it from the guy, $600!
Great project! Not too crazy, not rediculously expensive, something a real truck enthusiast could enjoy for years. Beautiful. Does it still look good 12 years later?
Great looking truck! Enjoyed watching the whole build!!!
You guys are very hardworking!

I’m building a couple similar builds on my channel, great video! Keep up the good work!
That truck looks beautiful. Sadly, I couldn't drive it with all of that chrome and silver in the interior.

I agree, the LWB was rare back in the day. Short boxes were a dime a dozen!
Truck looks awesome! Great job!
Young Tommy looks like he’s straight out of Dazed and Confused
HILARIOUS !!!
DAMN! The long hair and lack of chops through me for a loop! You know this is an OLD build from back in the day!
Great HAIR! Bet the chicks went wild over that!

Great video very helpful on many fronts.
In my personal opinion I dig long beds rather than short beds sure short beds look cool but they’re not practical.
PowerNation and Budget go together like Peanut Butter and Tuna. Lol
in love with this truck!
That is one gorgeous c10.
I learned to drive on a 65 carryall with a 3 on the tree. You guys built a beautiful truck that is so much better than the factory. Well done.
That green is a great color.
Not enough green vehicles in the world.
you are great thanks for all the info
Great Job guys!!!
Gorgeous... It would've looked even better with a 2 inch top chop.
Beautiful. I love my country and our way of life.
I like long beds, my whole family had long bed pickups..
I love those old trucks.. they are so cool!!!
They just started making Short box bedsides now for these trucks
Beautiful ride! Ever think about building a custom truck that can pull a large trailer or 5th wheel?
NICE WORK GUYS
You can call it a driver, but you better have LoJack on it and never leave it in a parking lot overnight. Too nice!

no, they ruined this truck
new windshield. not old polished one. still looks hella nice!!!

I got a longbed 1966...chevy c10 in georgia...New Interior new dash...New tires....4500 cash
Awesome color
Hey, I just saw you in POWERNATION
Especially when everyone does short bed swap, then you can’t find long beds anymore. Then everyone is going to want that cause it’s rare lol
Awesome truck.
Hell yes how about a 73-87 next
Heck yeah I would like to see it.
At 1:57:19 it appears the right back up light came on!
