Great to have in depth videos made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. Great to see the steps in clarity explained and demonstrated in detail rather than turning things into a comedy performance!. Very happy subscriber here guys.
I suggested this back in the 70's. 63-66, Chevy short bed trucks were getting hard to find. My friend had a 65 Chevy, long bed. I said lets cut it down! Most people told me it could't be done. LOL!!
Would the value be the same or close to an original short bed? Asking because I just converted my long bed Into a short bed and wanted to see what is worth now.
The current market seems to be supporting the value of converted shortbeds just like originals. In some cases where a longbed had exceptional patina and the bedsides were shortened professionally to retain the patina, we've seen those trucks be seemingly MORE valuable than an original shorty.
I have 2012 Dodge Ram Laramie 2500 long bed and I want to convert it to short bed, Is there a kit for that and do you recommend doing it or not? thanks in advance.
We don't make a kit, and we're not aware of anyone who does. As far as if we recommend it... we're all about making it what you want it to be. So if a short truck is what you want, then cut away!
The best thing about our kit is that the frame WILL be straight. We've done this project in many situations including a few DIY garages and it's very easy and always comes out right. We suggest you watch our instructional video for this kit, very easy to follow
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I’ve watched two already. Even called to get one but the guy said they’re on back order so I guess I’ll have to wait. Does the kit come with one or two plates ? For the fit up
It included a left and right template and left and right C Channels. We will have them back in stock very soon. We suggest you order one now and we'll ship it when they come into stock. Thanks for watching!
Yes and No. the cab mounts would need to be swapped and the front frame horns (the front of the frame) that attach to the bumper would need to be cut off and swapped or else you cant attach a bumper. there may be some other small differences as well, but those are the main two that come to mind quickly. We wouldn't recommend it, you're better off finding a 67-72 frame.
I disagree. They are already worth significantly less than a short bed. There were way way more long beds than shorts produced. Cutting them down properly will only increase the value. UNLESS it’s a low mile mint condition numbers matching barn find.... then maybe find a different one to cut down.

Way ahead of your time!
Awesome video guys! Love the fact that this is easy to perform this conversion in an average driveway. Someday I'll get to this point in my '68 C10.
Still. Nice. Kit. Good. Job
The kit is great easy to install short box is the way to go
Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the kit!
You Guy's are great keep up the good work 👍👍
Thank you for watching!
That's an awesome kit.
i like how when it's done you just have a repro bed on it like "BAM we done" lol jokes aside do you sell a template to cut down longbed BEDS as well ?
Just did my 71 c10 came out great not hard at all great kit @Brothers truck parts
Excellent! Thank you for the feedback!
When you took your drive shaft in you just told them 12” off the front? Did you have to measure to confirm or did you just go with the 12”?
great video brothers...now my question is! is there a kit for the older C10 versions and would it be similar to this one?🤠👍
Not right now
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 🙁👍
Great video! Your conversion is perfect I will be picking one of those up but where did you find a bed replacement?
We built this bed and a few others 100% from reproduction parts.
Great video!!! Do you guys also make these type of kits for the 80s c10s?
We've been working on a kit for a while now and it's almost done. Keep checking our website for updates www.brotherstrucks.com
Did you cut the actual bed to fit when you shortened the frame? Where is that video to do that?
We used a reproduction bed for this conversion.
BROTHERS Truck Parts great thank you

Hello. How about a template for shortening the bed?
Thank you.....
I'm curious, is there a kit available for the K series 4x4 trucks? Or just the C series?
Our kit only works on C Series trucks.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV What's different between the 2 that it would not work on the 4x4?
@@gboots9009 The frame on the 67-72 gets cut where the transfer case mounts. It makes it so our C Channel can't be inserted to support the frame.

The link to the product is in the Video description and is also a featured product on BROTHERS home page.
Anyone already did this in they’re garage? Any pointers? I’m scared the frame is not going to be straight

Yes, no problem!
Will a66frame fit a67

I would prefer a untouched eight foot bed . Cutting them devalue them .
I would take a short or long bed, I just want another C-10 bad!!!
