    Hi Pat This is a fantastic video because I have just purchased my first DCC train set. It came with a default address of 3 so I immediately transferred the address to position 1. I suppose I must leave address 3 blank in case I decide to add further locos to the fleet? In addition to Bachmann Function List numbers there are some 3 digit numbers under three headings of Sound CV, Volume CV, Sound CV but the instructions do not say what these are for or how I should use them. With your vast experience with this controller I was wondering if you had any ideas because Bachmann have not explained these numbers. Kind Regards from the UK.

      Hi Malcom. Sorry for the late reply. Yes leave number 3 open for any new locomotive additions you might add later. The bachmann system has some of the basic sounds. The numbers 1-10 on the controller will activate specific sounds. Locomotive manufacturers are different, make sure you read the owners manual with each locomotive.

    Pat, yes, the crossover is definitely an option. Will one EZ Command Center be able to handle all that track with one connection wire, or do I have to add some feeders? Also, I plan on having 3-4 diesel locomotives - will this be enough power for that?

    • @engineerpat5290

      OH YES!!! On my HO scale set up I have one loop and 4 switches and the EZ command handles it well. I have 6 units. You can program them to their own digital address. It's very simple. For a simple set up, one ez system is plenty. The wiring I think will handle your layout. I have been into HO for 13 years since I was 11 years old and the bachmann system still works like a champ. I hope you find this helpful. Please reply if I can help further. Thank you, Pat

    Pat just getting back into this after a long time out of trains (like 20 years!) - I have done G, O, HO, and N scale so worked my way all around. At this point (60 years old) the eyes aren't what they are used to, so I was thinking that N will be too small. The table space that I have is 54" by 120" so I have a decent space for a couple of loops and some sidings. My wife bought me Basic stater track Bachmann HO kit (got 18" curves and couple of switches) I was going to use this for an inside loop with a switcher running it. Then I could get some 22" curves for the outer loop with some side spurs to add some interest. I like this command control center. If I have two loops of track that are not connected, I would need a second one of there, correct?

      Hello Robert, Thank you for watching my video. I am glad you are getting back into the hobby. The table size is perfect for HO. Is the set DCC or standard DC? I do not think you need another EZ Command system. One way you can save a little money is purchase a cross over switch. The cross over switch looks like a big X. This will connect the two loops together and you can use one system. If you use DCC get the DCC switches. BAchmann makes it very simple to get started and expand your model railroad.
      I hope you find this comment helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to my response. Thank you again for asking and happy model railroading. Pat

    Hi Pat I just got a bachmann started kit and the trains that come with it only the light will work but not the sound, what I’m doing wrong?

    • @engineerpat5290
      @engineerpat5290  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whats up man? Thanks for commenting. What set did you purchase? Some locomotives are just equipped with DCC. Some are equipped with DCC and SOUND. With DCC, lights are the ONLY function.

      Thank you for asking! I greatly appreciate your comment. I have a little bit of N scale. The brands I recommend are Kato, Athearn and bachmann. All three are good quality. Bachmann is a good starter brand, KATO AND ATHEARN are great as well.

      HI MICHAEL! Sorry for the late response. I would use the bachmann EZ track with the EZ command control center. Those products are complementary, meaning go together.

    Almost got it right - DCC is a set of standards that have been agreed to by all involved - Bachmann have not been accommodation to anybody - want to use the agreed standards so your stuff is compatible with others you have to abide by the agreed rules !!!!!

    Hi, I just got one of these controllers and was trying sound functions with an Atlas DCC Loco with Lenz decoder, not knowing how I muted or shut sound down and now there is no sound when i press the buttons except for long horn (#2) that is the only one that works... any thoughts?

      On bachmann EZ command system, number 8 mutes and un mutes the sound.

      also, hold the button down to start up the engine. I have an Atlas unit my self. The start up, requires holding the button down for about 3 seconds and the unit should start up.

      Hi! Sorry for the late response. It depends on the brand. Bachmann is very affortable if you just want DCC. Now if you want DCC and Sound. Athearn is great as well as scale trains and Atlas. Prices are different.
