Thanks John, It was as much fun as it looks. That track right!! No joke, I was going to narrate the whole thing but I found the track and couldn't talk over it!!! Take Care, Bill
This is a great model kit from my childhood, and I had a great time building it again as an adult, (although thats questionable...) I hope you like it and look forward to hearing what you think. Take Care, Bill
Thanks Robert!! It is such an iconic kit, I have a few of them, (Frankenstein, Wolfman, and the creature from the black lagoon) and really enjoy building them as I remember building them when I was around 10 or 11. I dont remember painting any of them, but sure had fun!!! I had the big Model Show this past weekend and when it came to getting a video out I just didn't have the gumption to edit any of that footage, so I edited this footage from when I built it in 2021. Take Care, Bill
A beautiful job you did to that model, Bill I used to live in Ireland in the 1970s. In 1974, when I was 10, my mother bought all 12 Aurora 'Glows in The Dark' models for my Christmas. These models were very hard to find in Ireland and this great little toy shop had them all. My mother was great. She knew I liked these models and she saved up her money the whole year for them. She only worked part time and didn't have much. The people in the shop were very nice, too. They kept all the models aside, without a down payment. Sadly, my mother died in October 2024, in a hospital, in my arms. She was 88.
Oh My Gosh, Thank you Frank for sharing that really Wonderfull story!!! I am so sad to hear of your mothers passing, but the story of how she got these models for you is so amazing, it's what these seemingly innocuous items are all about. Everything in my shop carries a memory for me, and I am so glad that some of that can bring back a cherished memory for someone else. Thank you so much for commenting Frank, and all my best to you and your family after the loss of your mother. Take care, Bill
I built a lot of the old Aurora Universal monster kits (the ones with the glow in the dark heads and hands) when I was a kid and I can remember seeing that kit in the store but it wasn't one that I ended up with. I like what you did to it without changing the old school vibe. I sure wish I had all those old kits now but like a lot of us they ended up in the trash. A few years ago my brother gave me one of the Monogram reissue Dracula kits and I had a great time building it. The Monogram reissue kits don't have the glow in the dark parts. Moebius Models has a few of them available again I think.
Hi Samuel, it's such a fun kit, I also built it as a kid but then it had "Adventures" and never made it out of my childhood. I have an affinity for these kits even if I dont build them often, and built "The Creature" (from the black lagoon) as this is my personal favorite monster movie from the genre. A couple years later I built the Frankenstein, which I have still not finished, but these are distractions from my preferred builds. I still have a 1/12 scale Frankenstein, the wolf man, and another swimming version of the Creature from the black lagoon that will get built someday when I need a break. Take Care Samuel
I've got that very model on the corner of my work bench. I love your ideas. Like the spine and back ribs. Texturing the cloth. Will do my best to build mine as well. Thank you for sharing.
Very nice! I remember building this kit as a child, but it didn't look like this one! Heck, I may just have to see if I can find one on the internet and give it another go. Neat modifications too. well done, indeed!
Thanks Monty!!! I built it way back when also and it was really fun to go back and build it again, and do modifications we never even dreamed about back then. I was more of a build it to break it modeler as a kid, all my ships saw water, all my airplanes almost flew... I hope you do find one, there are readily available and a kick-in-the-pants to build!!! Take care, Bill
@@ScaleModelCraft I'm inspired! I'm going to get one and use your build as reference, if you don't mind. I'll post it on my channel when done and you can give it the once over. Thanks for your video!
Thanks Monty, thats great!!! I also need to check out your channel as I love showing other peoples creations during my Friday Livestream. Take Care, Bill
@@ScaleModelCraft Sounds great to me. I definitely appreciate the support. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to more outstanding creations.
Thanks Mark!! Yeah it's a thin 1/8" plywood I got at Hobbytown. Really nice to work with, cuts great with a sharp knife and straight edge. The rounded pieces were poplar dowel I think. Take Care, Bill
Hi Snoopydog!!! I dont think so, It was part of the monster series from Aurora, bit I dont remember any movie it was specifically based on. Thanks for the question, Take Care, Bill
Great job pimping this vintage kit Bill, and the 70's funk bgm is amazing! 👍

Neat build Bill. Pink insulation for the backing and base, but what do you use for the stand? Some sort of craft plywood?
Thanks Mark!! Yeah it's a thin 1/8" plywood I got at Hobbytown. Really nice to work with, cuts great with a sharp knife and straight edge. The rounded pieces were poplar dowel I think.
