Love the cast arty, got a suggestion for an experiment. What about casting a game keeping only vision of one of the players? As a non-player, it's really unnerving to see only one persons vision and it would be cool to get a whole game casted that way, really highlighting what information a player has to act on and what is unknown. Could be cool, probably not, but something I just thought of when you limited us to flashes vision at the end.
why does nobody use ghosts? why does nobody use Dispersion Web?? why does nobody answer my questions after asking them on this channel politely several times? ...
@@GoogsMindbent As far as the first two questions - I think the simplest answer is a mix of cost, timing, and efficacy. Ghosts/Disruption Web are both expensive and slow to acquire while there are cheaper, faster options that will just kill the enemy units rather than disable them. I don't have an answer to your third question 😕
@@GoogsMindbent Artosis has casted several TvZs where the Terran went for nukes to clear mass sunks. There is one if not two games where T uses lockdown versus Carriers. There was one PvT game where the P uses Disruption Web on tanks. Ghost are useful vs Carrier/Battlecruiser with bad detection, in both scenarios wraiths are better (and there is a reason why wraiths are rare to see). Ghost are useful with nukes against clumps of enemies but unlike SC2 units don't stack well and nukse cost supply. Protoss have Stasis, Maelstrom and Scarabs that are all better than Disruption Web and there is a reason why storm is more common than all the others combined. The Corsair is mostley used in PvZ and Darkswarm hard counters it. But the main thing with both is cost (mostley investment cost), time to tech into it takes to long to be viable in the midgame and lastley APM. Even the pro ASL player struggle with apm because of SC1 mechanics. There are other spells/spellcasters that are underutilised for exampel darkarchon, medics restoration and queens paralyse. Even the used ones like high templars and science vessels are often under built. It is recommended to build a max of 6 vessles because you wont have the APM for more. Hope this helps.
Rich! pig24 is a name, and naming scheme of animal+number, both ssinz and rich use from time to time. In this case this game was on the blizzard ID that belongs to Rich. Rich, while still considered an amateur, is probably better than some of the protoss you will regularly see in K-league such as nOOB, Tyson and YSC. Cant wait to see him qualify for SSL.
Can’t believe he didn’t talk about the Tactic from Flash at 10:14….. Flash branches a single Vulture off to cleverly hide behind the mineral patch but leaves the rest of the Vulture group intentionally for Protoss to see. The Vulture group gets pushed away by the Goons, and the Protoss player is lured into a false sense of security… but Flash brings the lone Vulture out and kills the 4th base Probe at 10:45. You really start to see the brilliance the more you watch Flash replays.
i remember thinking about this for the last flash video but this game shows it aswell. theres a real sense of strangulation to the way flash plays the early midgame, its these tiny -5 seconds -10seconds on nexus and similar plays that just builds this crushing momentum for him through the midgame into the late.
@6:30 is when he kills the first probe trying to expand. It almost got there. 2nd probe dispatched, killed 6:45, then the goon kill- that alone is worth 2-3 vultures "per cost"- to say nothing of the time delay and extra APM of building a shuttle, loading a probe, then unloading and building (7:30) ! Delayed it by a whole minute. (And then kills the probe like 10 seconds later and gets away scot-free). Insane. Kills another 20 workers with vultures @19:30 Killed a ridiculous number at bottom left, too. The storms hurt, but those hurt just as bad- and the 19:30 is the nail in the coffin.
There are a few pretty dangerous jobs in our world but building a nexus against flash beats them all. I couldn't belive how many probes did he snipe one after another xD
I still can't believe that, when Arty was talking about OP units, he didn't include Vultures (or any Terran unit, or Protoss for that matter). They have two speeds, fast and turbo, two shot workers, lay mines that do a bizillion damage, and for some reason cost 75 minerals, making them utterly expendable.
I think Pig would've still been okay vs. Flash's big push if he hadn't lost 2 shuttles on those drops. The first shuttle was lost by flying into the goliaths in the main after doing nice damage at Flash's 3rd. The second one was lost going for a repeated drop in the same location so soon after the previous drop, when Flash's attention was still on defending his 3rd. That 2nd lost shuttle is what triggered Flash's attack timing. If you add 2 shuttles full of speedlots to Pig's army during that push by Flash I think Pig saves his natural and the game resets to a roughly equal position. Still really cool how long Pig was able to hold on after taking so much damage in that push!
I think the biggest issue was that he didn't delay the push at all and let flash walk across the map for free on close spawns. Splits the toss army and let's him do moves like catching Zealot/HT spawns for free.
it feels like pig forgot about that chunk of units in the bottom left and was just playing with a third of his supply missing for the final 10 minutes of the game, they never moved and weren't really defending anything
One thing that was worth hundreds of MMR for me in SC2 was accepting my mistakes. When i miss a macro cycle i build production. Because that bank will never get spent if i dont increase production. Itll just float there.
Huge D level mistakes by protoss lost him the game. At 18:00 not evacuating probes and lost most of them whilst trying to pointlessly micro 2 reavers defense against 8 tanks . Then at 19:00 could have easely a-move + flank and crush entire terran army but looks like he completely forgot he has 2+ control groups of army iddling at 7 base, that army sit there minutes doing nothing. By the time he realized he had that army, he already lost his main army running over mines and trying to snipe sieged tanks. The 3 waves of storm drops barely did anything, a total of like 8 scvs out of 50 died. He could have easely come from 2 angles and storm both minerals and retreat path killing alot more. When terran is 1 base and has 50 scvs, loosing 8 actually makes your mining faster bcs the base is not overly saturated with scv's iddling from patch to patch and path-blocking other. That's not to say that Flash should have gone all in on protoss main and win the game straight up there or take 2 more bases while doing siegeing main front and buying time.
I played brood war back on release but never kept up with any competitive games. I’ve watched a ton of competitive sc2. I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve watched so much sc2 that I’m bored of it but it’s kind of mind blowing how much more interesting these games are compared to sc2.
Considering one of the best assets a SC player has is time management rather than military leadership, he'd be world-class at anything involving logistics
Seems like Flash hasn't regained his pre-military service power levels yet.. Remains to be seen if he ever does. He won, but it was way too tight for a ladder game against non ASL/SSL player.
Thank Artosis for casts. Flash is very good it is true, but this protoss player was just bad - attacks vultures using zealots, and tanks using dragoons, generaly You want to do literally opposite. When retreat his dragoons, he even doesnt shoot, and many many many other mistakes.

I second this! It would be a really cool way to commentate a few games
That’s a cool idea. I’ll try and do it in a couple of weeks.
Remind me if I forget
Yeah boy, when he hides one player's vision, it suddenly feels like this game was partially inspired by the Aliens and Predator movies or something.
Love this idea!
No wonder my living room is so cold. Artosis keeps getting chills and it's cooling me through my monitor and speakers.
I have been going through a tough experience and these videos have been a really helpful distraction. Thanks for making these

Is this back to back Rich vs FlaSH THEN?
Rich is very good but iirc arty is not a fan (probably ran into him a few too many times on ladder with much cursing)
Good players dont care if arty likes them. arty doesnt belong anyway. Not good enough
Flash is so good I’m surprised Korean military let him leave.
They didnt. Hes currently special agent in the star force.

Is there a world in which after killing that scouting SCV the toss cancels the nexus, makes goon range and goes basically all in?
