EQ set flat........Lets come forward to 2017 I ran an Alpine head unit in my work truck with a 12" Alpine Type R sub and Type R 2 ways, dedicated Amp for sub of course, dedicated amp for all other speakers. Total cost $6+ Large...not a huge amount in Car audio terms, but it was a panel shaker......haha. Still appreciate great Car audio.....

It occurred to me after listening to some old Motown tracks that this guy's voice was very-much like El Debarge, from the Debarge family act of the early 80's. Never even registered the lyrics, all these years, apart from "Aretha...." 🤭. One of the finest produced, of 80's 👏.
This is the song that connects all the 80s acts of this genre best songs into one. Totally memorable. Has all the hooks and beats . No other song does it.
When I first heard this back in '84, I was mesmerized, it sounded so new and different. All the 80's music was brilliant and never bettered before or since, but this sound was utterly unique. My analogy on how it sounds so different is a bit like the way Jimi Hendrix guitar and songs so amazing and unlike anything else ... like it came from another planet...
The bridge (middle 8) of this song is one of the best ever in a pop song. 2:05 Next time you play this track through a decent sound system or your car, blast your volume to the max and you'll see what i mean.

i like a pretty diverse set of bands and artists, but I am a sucker for a great melody , and I always found Green had the ability to capture a real ethereal sound with amazing melodic hooks. as a kid I only heard perfect way because in the states that was their only big hit...I figured they were a one hit wonder...then as a young adult I heard the sweetest gi rl and thought. hmmm...thats the group who sang perfect way...thats 2 great songs...so I went and dove into their songs and I have been a huge fan of greens ever since
