  • Hi everyone, I decided to upload my first ride with my dream bike that I just picked up from the dealership. It's the newest version of Honda CBR 650R from 2024 which had some visual improvements and a great modern TFT dashboard added. Also this is the first bike that I own.
    I took the riding courses and license 12 years ago, and I haven't ridden much since then, so I'm getting used to riding and learning the bike in this video. Since I was very young I've been riding motorcycles and I have extensive experience, but since I haven't ridden for so long it took me some time to learn the ropes again.
    I purchased the bike August 2023 and it arrived February 2024, so during the wait, as you can guess, I've been very excited and had a couple of months to learn a lot about the bike itself as well as the best riding practices, mistakes to avoid while riding, and also what maintenance is required for the health of the bike and the safety of the rider from various sources.
    With this said, I may already know most of the advices that you are probably going to throw at me, but I'll still be happy to learn something new from you guys!
    I wish safe rides to all bikers out there and I hope you like my first video! =)

    Please note that I haven't ridden a bike in 12 years and I had to learn the ropes again as well as get used to handling the bike itself. I'm riding with much more confidence now, after 2500km on the bike and I learned a lot, so you can expect much better riding in my upcoming videos. I wanted to capture the moment with this video and I hope you like it. Thank you! :)

      @@StanielBG I hope you got my point that you need to warm up the tires before any aggressive riding. The TPMS monitors tire pressure but I would still check tire pressure with a good gauge every week at a minimum. I do it so often that I can actually feel a difference with my fingers on a cold tire. Trie pressure and getting the rubber to the right temperature is SUPER IMPORTANT. Best H.

Three of us went to a motorcycle training school, got the license, and one friend on the same week bought a brand new Yamaha R6 here in Massachusetts USA. We were laughing because he told the story of how he kept stalling the motorcycle in the middle of rush hour traffic. People kept beeping the horn, this was back in 2009 he has since upgraded to 1000CC.

      @StanielBG  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, if you have passed the courses successfully and you got the license recently, the experience and the knowledge should be fresh enough for this bike. You just need to get used to the weight and the handling, but overall it's pretty easy to ride and a very comfortable bike. Maybe if you get it, try doing some exercises in a parking lot with slow speed maneuvers to get comfortable with it. I'm also somewhat a beginner since I haven't ridden a bike in like 12 years and I have never before ridden a bike of this weight and engine power. :)

      The comfort, the power, the reliability and the looks, as well as the price. It's basically my dream bike, but I found out about it last year. Originally I was a huge fan of the 2012 CBR 600RR but since then I lost track of the models and wanted to buy a brand new bike so I went with this one. I'm more than happy with it, it surpassed all my expectations. PS: It also has a Traction Control and ABS, they have saved me twice already, in slippery situations.

    I'm still no rider (want to get a license) so I don't understand one thing I always see in Pov riding videos.
    Why does the handlebar look perfectly straight when doing a "zigzag"? Is it a illusion of the video?

    • @StanielBG
      @StanielBG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PolPingo On sport bikes you turn more using leaning rather than turning the handlebars. It's because the bike is heavier and the turn radius is bigger. If you check other bikes for example nakeds or adventure bikes you can see the difference. They have much smaller turn radius with wider handlebars and you can make sharper turns with them. Also the front fork has smaller angle towards the road. When you ride fast you can't turn a lot on any bike, the difference is more visible when you ride slow. For zigzag motion you don't need much movement from the handlebars, you need just enough to throw the bike off balance and then return it straight or throw it in the other side, the movements are quick. You'll get it as soon as you start riding. :)

    • @PolPingo
      @PolPingo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@StanielBG Ngl it seems hard but I've never tried it.
      Considering that my plan is to get a sport-looking bike as first bike (I know, isn't the best, but I follow my heart), I hope to learn fast. I watched your video just because CBR650R and the Ninja 650 are on my list. I know that this bike might be too powerful for a newbie, but my plan is to get one and keep it for a long time

    • @StanielBG
      @StanielBG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PolPingo it's actually perfect for new riders. It will move as fast as you push it to move. It's a bit on the heavy side, but it's surprisingly easy to get used to it. I suggest, start like me, first 500-1000km ride it slow, ride it progressively, get used to it. It's not that scary or that difficult to get the feeling of it. The most important part in my opinion is never to panic when something happens and to learn all the safety tips for the road and in the traffic. When you get used to it you will relax naturally and ride it however you like. I've had only one scary situation for all the 8000km I have currently, and I handled it perfectly because I was prepared for it. The bike also has safety features like ABS and Traction Control which gives you additional protection. :)

      @PolPingo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@StanielBG No yeah I'll definitely take it slow, for 1 year or 2 at least.
      Idk if I'll get this bike or the ninja 650 (or another bike), but safety features are surely my number 1 priority, especially where I live. In sicily the volcano Etna sometimes erupt and the ashes come all the way to the city, covering the street and making it slightly slippery and dangerous, even if you walk. So at least Abs is a must
