Why are Dallas roads that hard to drive on when they are wet? Doesn’t matter whether it’s rain or snow, everybody can’t drive on them without wrecking.
The large amounts of detergents in motor oil buildup on the highway from leakage, causing them to release along with the petroleum products in the asphalt when it rains. The longer it goes with high temps/dry weather the slicker it gets when it rains. A clue is when you see a white foam on the highway just after it starts raining. Sounds like BS but watch for it and you'll be a believer!!
2 reasons, and I'm not saying they weren't going too fast, but reason #1 is it's been hot here and no rain and the streets see temps of 150 degrees constantly. This brings up oil from traffic. The roads are very heavily traveled which makes them smooth also. So that first rain we had these past days makes them very slick. Why the driver wouldn't know that and be careful I don't know. Then in the winter it's not snow, it's ice. You can be in an 18 wheeler stopped and be sliding off the road. Raised freeways freeze first.
