    ***How could I forget to mention water resistance???😱😂***
    100 meters for the Garrison and 200 meters for the Tough

    I have a few Citizens. Never been disappointed. They are restrained in their design but that kind of makes them timeless. Both seem excellent!

    Citizen also has a promaster tough ecodrive in full titanium and 300m water resistance, with arabic numerals - BN0118-55E, often referred to as the Ray Mears. Can be found from UK citizen ADs. I think its really slept on in the states.

    I have two Citizen Eco Drive Stiletto watches. One has been my daily for over 15 years. Eco Drive watches are powered by light, be it sun, LED, flourescent, incandescent, halogen, etc. Solar powered indicates sun powered.

    I have the stainless Garrison same setup with a couple differences: mine has 24hr numbers that are smaller and set center to the 12 hour numbers and I have integrated polished crown guards. Eco drive and Sapphire Crystal. I love this watch so much I gave all my other watches to my son( including my citizen dive watch I had during Gulf War.). Citizen in my opinion is the best watch made for the money.

      I have the tough. Got it for $175 at Kaye Jewelers as a year end close out. Heavy solid well built eco drive watch that it very accurate. It’s made to last a long time.

    For me the garisson wins, nicer looking dial

  • @watchchimp3102
    @watchchimp3102 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I stumbled on this review and I had to chuckle, because I have both of these watches, as well as half a dozen other Eco-drives.
    Anywayz, as similar as these watches are, they are also very different. I find the the aptly name Tough to be just that. A bit more chunky and rugged. The Garrison is more sleek; it's so lite you forget you have it on; people unfamiliar with titanium watches and titanium bracelets may not like it, because the lightness of the bracelet makes it feel cheaper than it is. I like both watches, but the Garrison has a special quality in that the lightness makes it a good choice for situations (like mountain biking) where you are exposed to a lot of vibration and shock. It just doesn't bounce around as much as a heavier watch and can be worn looser as a result.
    Side note: my Garrison is the white dial version that I bought thinking (hoping) it was full lume (it's not), but it also has light markers so the contrast isn't as good. If I was gonna buy one again I'd go with the black, blue or green dial.

    I love my Garrison super titanium. Great watch! I own an eco drive paradigm that’s 22 years old and has never been serviced or had the capacitor changed. I’ve beaten it up as well. You gotta love the eco-drive.

  • @ztejstronymarcin

    Super titanium is 5x more durable than a regular alloy... yeah, the Pagani PG1717 watch looks better after over a month of people doing everything with it, carrying wood, chasing the dog, driving a wheelbarrow, cleaning the garden and many other things - it is less scratched, than the "super titanium" Citizen watch I took out today, and I'll add that I didn't do anything to it - I wore it at home, scratches are visible just by looking at it... I have a Citizen Titanium Eco-Drive BM8560-88E watch. In itself it's ok, but these abrasions on the clasp are a disaster, they literally showed up straight away...

    • @troyschonke6304
      @troyschonke6304 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a super titanium as well and it took nothing for it to scuff, first day out it looks like I've been wearing it for months! Thinking they changed something to save money, it's super light weight and the movement is accurate which I love, but man is the finish ever terrible!

  • @PpaStrmpf

    The Garrison is like a little brother of the BN0018. I like the Garrison even more because it is available in all continets and the price is good. Only thing that I miss about it is the radio controlled movement.

    I have a steel monocoque promaster that from 1990. Has a very similar face to the Garrison. Been my daily watch for around 12 years. Has worn-in character...To my knowledge it's never had its capacitor replaced... Still keeping solid time.. (has a knurled screw-down crown too). The only minus is that the lume has faded (it has been over 30 years...). Bomb proof tool watch!!

    On the Garrison, I disagree about the crown. It has been an issue for me. It pops out easily, espexially.when taking off a jacket or long sleeve shirt. It actually broke off once and I had to have the crown replaced.

  • @Trapvision3D
    @Trapvision3D 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree, screw down Crowns should be threaded. It just adds to overall love of the watch for me. Now, that won't keep me from buying, but I'm just saying!

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right??? I can't believe that wasn't noticed right away from the Citizen design team. But... now that I think about it, their design team thought it was a good idea to have a non-rotating dive bezel on the Tough Chronograph so they're probably not the brightest designers in the world lol.

    Hey man! I have an Asia only release version of the Citizen Promaster Calibre 2100 Titanium Sapphire "panda" grey face chronograph with the deep etched case back. I am going to sell it because even though its like 12 years old, it's immaculate and NOBODY has these, and it's too nice for a guy like me. All the reviews on YT are the ones with the non-heavy etched case back. I just bought a Garrison and that's about more my style for hiking and outdoor life. I seriously have called Citizen USA with the serial # and they can't figure out which exact model it is.... its like AV0021-5??..... not AV0021-52H.... that's the one with the non-deep etched back. Citizen just released a reboot of that watch in stainless and it retails for $950..... I have the original all titanium version that apparently it ultra rare..... Ebay soon... but I will make a video to show it. Thanks for the vid!!

    Off topic, DK....how do you feel about Grand Seiko??? I know your love for Seiko, and Citizen.....Japanese horology,in general, but I don't think, I've ever heard your thoughts on, IMHO, "The King." I do remember you having the "GS homage," by San Martin, but to my recollection, that's the only time, I can remember you making mention of the brand. Great review, BTW. My reasoning behind asking, is two-folded. I've often wondered, your opinion of their designs, but in lieu of the topic, my pick as the "1-watch collection" would be the SLGH-005 a.k.a., the "White Birch." In my eyes, there has never been, a more perfect watch. I literally feel that I could buy that one piece, and be done. Never own, or wear, another watch, the rest of my life, and be completely content. One of the ways that I've really connected w/ Aragon so much, as a brand, is that I see a lot of "Japanese horology" symbolism, throughout Wings' designs. Just curious, as to your thoughts

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they're great (but that doesn't mean much from me as I've never held one in person). No reason why I've never bought one other than they're not cheap and I can only afford one luxury brand at a time. The reason why I picked Tudor over any other "entry level" luxury brand is specifically because of the Holy Trinity of Steel (i.e. Steel Black Bay, Steel Chronograph, and Steel P01); the rugged and WWII era factory manufactured feel I got from them was irresistible. Grand Seiko watches on the other hand seem to be much more refined, bordering on art, thus not something that resonated with me... yet.

    • @tarasmathers7423
      @tarasmathers7423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@degenerateWA I see your point, and completely understand your "dilemma." I truly don't think that for under$4,000, that there's a better value proposition, than Tudor. They punch far above their weight-class.....if that makes sense??? Now that you mention it, and knowing your general taste in watches, and the characteristics that you find appealing in them.....I don't think there was a different choice for you, that would've made more sense. As you know, Tudor is all about, a modern take, of their own heritage. The classic "tool aesthetic. Grand Seiko, it can be argued, may be "the," best value, in the luxury market segment, period. At least, in terms of finishing. In fact, their official slogan is, "Timepieces that are made by hand, for those who value perfection." I feel that kind of says it all. It took me awhile to really get into them, but now that I have, I'm really in awe of a lot of their pieces. Particularly, some of the pieces from their "heritage collection," like the "White Birch."
