Hello! Could you please do a video of a complete style guide for men in the tropics/humid places where we can only wear a single layer lest risk leaving a trail of sweat where we walk? Much appreciated!
@@boltthrower3215 We have a full guide on ironing. Linen is easier to iron than wool, as you don;t have to think about the heart, just crank up the iron, and you don't need a layer of cloth in between to prevent any sheen
Excellent content as always gents. This channel has truly inspired me to improve my wardrobe so I truly appreciate all the insight. I honestly wish I could wear my Dark striped suit more often but I managed to get a few casual blazers that feature patch pockets which I find more versatile and appropriate for any informal event. It gets extremely hot out here so my blazers are unlined cotton and the other is a Wool/ Linen Blend although not sure of the lining but I assume it can be worn in warm weather as well. I will definitely double check.
I'm big into hats, too! I wear them every time I leave the house. My hat of choice for felt season is a fedora, but I've been known to wear homburgs, a bowler, a pork pie, flat caps, straw hats such as the Panama, boater, and straw pork pie, and even a couple top hats with formalwear, one of which is a collapsible opera hat from the '20s! The only hat I'm not that fond of is the trilby. I consider it the less elegant cousin of the fedora.
Could you do a video on Belts vs suspenders. When you should use one over the other; and the different types of suspenders and belts. Also, when not to wear either? The No-belt look? No suspenders? Just perfect fit …is this a thing? 🤔
Belts Pros: More "normal," works with casualwear. Cons: Leather gets ruined easily, restricts your waist, must be matched to both leather and metal. Yes: With casual looks, two-piece suits or sport coats, and especially with equestrian wear. Never: With suspenders, with a waistcoat, with a stroller, dinner suit, morning coat, or evening suit. Suspenders Pros: Non-restrictive, more elegant, holds trousers up better, works with more formal looks. Cons: Requires the sewing of buttons on to trousers. Yes: With a waistcoat, suit or combination of any kind, stroller, dinner suit, morning coat, or evening suit. Never: With a belt or with clips. The No-Belt Look I personally like this look, even with belt loops. It's a bit of a modern fashion faux-pas, but I personally dislike the workwear aspect of belts and don't like untucking my shirts. I think it looks fine. When wearing a tailored jacket or some sort of covering, though, I wear suspenders.
Love this video. Always enjoy when you get back to classic menswear. I really like the look of the basic outfit, especially with the vest. That’s something that I have to try. Still searching for my own style. By the way, do you think that you could wear something like this with a flat cap, or not? If possible, please let me know. Thanks
As someone who wears suits every weekday, there are times when I'd rather not think about my outfit so I'll wear a white shirt with stainless steel cufflinks or barrel cuffs and a conservative tie that goes with any of my suits.
I really need more of Preston's grey suede shoes, they are just beautiful, and I'd love to see about getting them at some point. This is coming from a guy with a shoe collection of one.
Great vid. Love how you guys are so transparent about your own little idiosyncrasies. You really got me experimenting and trying new combinations and finding what I'm confident int. Helped me find ME, and not so much of trying to fit any particular mold or fashion! Thanx
A correction - the original James Bond wore a Rolex Explorer in the books. Sean Connery wore his own Rolex Submariner 6538 as Bond. I wear a steel diver on a bracelet with a suit.
He wore an Rolex but the model wasn't mentioned I think. However Fleming wore an Explorer himself what makes me believe he had an Explorer in mind while writing. Enjoy your Steel Dive👍 I can see this go along with a suit. Is it one of their Submariner homages?
I recently discovered this channel and have found it quite informative . I love the fashion tips here, but find many of them suited more for East Coast climes. Do you have any classy suggestions for hot-weather climates such as California and the American South-West?
"If you look at [King] Charles or the English aristocracy, they often wear pinky rings and it has nothing to do with a mob." Friend, I have to disagree with you there if you think the English aristocracy isn't The Mob xD
No Rafael,Charles is the biggest mobster in this world, actually Mazini who created the mafia was a 33 level mason of the Scotish rite...read the book Dope incorporated by late Lyndon Larouche, it's very informative about the actual top criminals of the world, But the British monarchy is by far one of the top bosses, if not the last boss :)
@@TheSultan1470 It seems to me there is a mob like mentality to every governing system. The mob might say pay us "protection money" and you can work on this block, where as the government will say pay us taxes and you can work in this country.
@@TheSultan1470I'm not sure where your 'What' came from. In the UK part of your taxes go to the 'Sovereign Grant', which mainly pays for Royal property upkeep; there is no option to not pay this. Most of the extended Aristocracy do not get any of this money and live off the income from their land and investments; they own about 1/3 rd of the UK.
I find it strange that many of the commenters on this channel claim that if I wear jeans and a t-shirt to help someone move I look like a bum. Newsflash, I've never been a bum. I have worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. What have you done with your life?
Thankfully, most of us here at this channel couldn't care less what's in and out of fashion this week. Dressing for oneself is a pleasure some sadly never find.
@@danbee415 I'm a firm believer that style is all about personality. I'll grant you that hats like fedoras are often worn by neckbeards and those with no taste in style. However, fashion fails to take into account individual personalities and preferences in favor of homogenizing humanity. I wear suits and ties daily, complete with a pocket watch, dress hat, opera pumps, and occasional dress cane. I once had a friend tell me, "If you show up in casualwear, I'm calling the police." I just hope those who dress in a trendy way do it because they want to rather than because they feel forced to in order to be liked.
Little known fact: 50% of the success of GG is the way Raphael and Preston carefully enunciate words.
Probably true.
Great video that got back to the basics of The Gentleman's Gazette. Thanks so much.
Just here to hear him say “Dapper”
I'm not pressing the like button until I hear Raphael drops the D word

“Caaashual”. M.
Dapper, man
He didn't make the video so we could hear him say it he makes them so we can become dapper

Raphael - you forgot to highlight the BELT. And you guys sell those too! Can't wait for the next video. Please do a broken suit next. Two thumbs up!
Amazing!!! Always waiting for the next release and this one is a gem 💎
Wow awesome color schemes
I always wear a fedora with a suit. Hats are a great addition to any wardrobe. In fact, I always wear some type of hat when out in public.
me too! everyday!
I believe hats are good not only wirh suits, but also with leather jackets and...dark blue indigo jackets (please don't shoot me on that...)
on light colored clothes fits better light colored hats (straw, light blue or very light gray).

The biggest no is wearing a belt with suspenders together. The other thing is when wearing a vest, you must wear it with suspenders.
Belts
Pros: More "normal," works with casualwear.
Suspenders
Pros: Non-restrictive, more elegant, holds trousers up better, works with more formal looks.
Cons: Requires the sewing of buttons on to trousers.
Yes: With a waistcoat, suit or combination of any kind, stroller, dinner suit, morning coat, or evening suit.
Never: With a belt or with clips.

It depends on the flatcap. A super tweedy one, may not be the right fit, a solid colored one could work though
Thank you very much.
