I am 71 and live in Arkansas. I usually wear dark blue or black jeans. I like short sleeve striped shirts. Occasionally, dress pants, white or blue dress shirts, and tie for church, weddings, etc. My problem is finding shoes that go with any occasion. Thanks for the tips. Lots of good ideas. I am amazed how some people dress ( or lack of) attending formal events. Weddings, etc. Maybe I am getting old and picky, but it seems more people dress poorly in the last few years.

Agree with the brown shoes and jeans, but with a medium color jean I have worn black shoes with a crisp ironed cotton white shirt with good success.
I got the slit collar and boy it solves a big part of my problem.
Works with shirts and polos. Highly recommended... no more sloppy collars.

These videos are awesome. I needed a big “facelift “ in the fashion department. I’ve replaced virtually everything in my closet over the last three months. This one about dressing up your jeans is helpful. And the collar plackets make a huge difference in how your shirt looks. Thanks John.
Lots of very good nuggets in this video. One the best thing I did a couple months back after doing some research was to purchase several pairs of quality trim Blue to Dark Blue Denim jeans unhemmed and then taking them directly to the tailor to be customed hemmed to my personal fit. They now fit perfectly and much different to my previous baggy jeans. As well a very distinctive different look with mid to dark brown shoes and more dressed up knit or shirt and jacket if need. More classy than reg baggy jeans and sneakers.

Oh, I’m also back to wearing a sport coat most days, with jeans. If you’re going to wear a jacket with pockets, why not? I always get treated better when wearing a sport coat. Especially when traveling. Even in the grocery store.

John, I totally like to watch your fashion videos. They give me great ideas. I sent for the Slick Collar and can't wait to try it. When my shirt collars fan out more than I like I use a small patch of masking tape behind the collar and stick it down to the shirt and it works great. By the way I'm 78 years young.

@ Philip Mack. I think that the only thing that matters about trouser length is that you wear the length that you prefer, which is entirely different to not caring about what others prefer, I am Old School, so I still have my trousers altered so that the length over of the front crease is about half an inch shorter than the rear crease. That way the trousers fuuly cover the heel of the shoe, but the front does not crumple up over the shoe laces. That is not being picky abot drtails, it''s just how the numerous Italian and Greek Tailors in Melbourne Australia used to hand tailor suits when I was starting out on my Business Career in a British owned Australian Bank, where I was very well paid and expected to dress to look like a responsible Banker. And the length of your trousers certainly mattered in Melbourne when it was the richest City in the World due to the Gold Rush, and both the Finance and Fashion centre Of Australia. Phil
