- If you're serious about off roading or considering modifying your Toyota Tacoma to go off road than you have probably heard of Air Lockers in the past. In todays episode we are headed to Money Pit 4x4 in Cashmere Washington to work with a Jarred a legendary gear and axle technician. Not only will Jarred show us how the air lockers are installed in the truck but these also going to explain why ARB air lockers are a far better option over E-lockers if you're serious about wheeling your Toyota. After the install we had to battle our way through near white out conditions over Washington states beautiful Stevens pass while towing the Tacoma with my 3rd gen tundra. #overlanding #rockcrawling #toyotatacoma

I agree with this my I installed a lunch box locker in my 3rd Gen 4Runner and it’s ridiculous to steer locked in 4wd. The rear is electric and no issues.
My Jeep both electric which makes driving experience better!

East coast gear supply offers a full clam shell differential with the Air locker installed and you ship them there core if you have a decent mechanical knowledge and electric knowledge you can install it yourself and save a ton of money with a good product lockers are awesome
if you have stock gears you get zero core return. I was told "we don't want you stock gears"
@bakwoodz08 I had stock gears and I got 100 percent of my core charge back it doesn't matter what gears you have it's about the condition of the case so they can reuse it if it's super rusted they will give you less but otherwise your getting money back

@loganfurst3010 you got lucky then. I spoke with a guy yesterday and that's what he told me. This is directly from their website "TV6, T8 AND T8 Clamshell Differentials
• Differential Housings must be in usable condition (no excessive rust, broken, spun bearings, etc)
• Damaged Ring & Pinions or Bearings are of no consequence
• Carriers must be present and in usable condition (not broken, excessive run-out , etc)
• Side adjusters must be present and in usable condition
• TV6 cores with a factory 4.88 gear are not acceptable."
Might be time to get a Harbor Freight welder and make yourself some trailer fenders!

@dannyv2335 you most likely can. Since rclt kit and portals come with lca and uca would be a waste of money using one or the other. Especially you spending top dollar. Plus portals give you too much height which will feel real tippy on off cambered spots.
