So cool to see new options like this hit the market. To be able to bolt on a single product and get a lift, regear, disc conversion and full float conversion is pretty epic.
Most frustrating thing about DIY TH-camrs. No eye pro to be had and the ppl watching the DIY vids to replicate the project don’t know any better. Potentially literally the blind leading the blind 🙈
now you gotta give your portals an oil change, have you serviced those kings yet? should revalve with the new unsprung weight, probably added an easy 50lbs to each corner with the tire and aluminum
Sorry, but i had to laugh when I heard 39. Quinn talked me out of going with 40s, for good reason. He said 38s are enough. So I got jelz when i heard 39s. Lol, you guys are so smooth and just roll through the challenges that popped up. Thanks for all your videos and constant teachings.

Crazy it’s still factory style single shear outer tie rod attachment. I know it’s a weak point to keep the rack from getting wrecked (easier to change the rods then a whole new rack) but on such a cool billet piece you think they’d add a double shear heim outer especially with 39’s 😮

Remember when portals hit the sxs market? They were the biggest rave for about 2 or 3 years. Between the quickley wearing moving parts, oil leaks, frequant oil changes, shitty handeling and at the end of this 20k + upgrade your still left with limited travel. For 20k your better off going solid axle with super 60's. And probabley cheaper. If i had 20k to burn im calling Martek and getting there SAS kit for the 3rd gen tacoma.

Question: I’m going to get a Tacoma this year. I live in Albuquerque. After driving some sweet tacos, Would you rather have tactical application vehicles do a 2 or 3 stage setup or do portals. (TAV is in my hometown).
Haven’t tested the TAV setups so I wouldn’t be able to give you a good comparison. All I can tell you is portals are pretty serious if you’re planning on wheeling your taco a lot. Otherwise you can go with a regular lift that’s a bit less expensive 🤙
So...why don't these companies have a way to fully droop the chassis to determine contact without trial/error? Wouldn't pulling the coil spring off and reconnecting just the thru damper on the front be an easy way to test all your clearance issues?
Granted you have 3rd gen I have a 2nd gen toyota tacoma with 33s with 3.5 inch lift. Haven't been able to find anything on the internet to stop them from rubbing on frame while turning. Any ideas?
I would say your best bet is to do a body chop, here’s a video on it: th-cam.com/video/c7c9CH2uFds/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bSuKXXOwrT_rslrF a lot of it has to do with the geometry of the wheel well. If you have a really wide stance it’s likely to rub against it so if you don’t want to chop maybe consider narrowing your stance 🤙
@@tacomabeast .. my FJ is has stock gears. 37's would be the max i would go (no real desire to go any bigger). if i can get way without re-gearing that would be awesome. Living in NM wheeling colorado/ Daily driver i dont want to loose too much driveability.

Speechless, simply badass. What the guys at 74weld are doing is nuts.

On a side note, him cutting the fenders with no face or eye protection was wild lol..
its crazy how none of the car youtubers i watch wear safety gear...no gloves no glasses no respirator..insane
It was the blowing of the brake dust without a mask and cutting the axle with a 4 1/2 grinder and no face shield that made me cringe
Don't worry, I'm sure safety squint was engaged.
Not all faces are pretty enough to need protection, apparently.
