Yeah...and its a great article! Would love to see a new generation of miners developed that ran at hotter temperatures...that would really be revolutionary

Very interesting, even the promotions. Thank you.

Thanks! Yes...I think there are many opportunities in the home mining space.

Heat pump is installed for 20-25 year lifetime. Your miner will
Be obsolete in 3-5 (mostly 3) if you live in an expensive electricity area. How much is the cost of a miner?
Also does the cost of a miner make sense if you only run it during cold weather

Thanks for the comment...and you bring up good, valid points. Previous generations of miners indeed didn't last that long, but as i covered in my miner efficiency episode, the turn-over in miner efficiency is slowing down. For example...the s19 design is going on 4 years old and some models are still very profitable. There are folks using S9s for space heating (see CryptoCloaks' website for examples). I'm very curious how long the latest s21-class miners will stay profitable (maybe > 10 years??)...and who knows what comes after that!
We are definitely early and miner heating is currently driven by us hobby-ists who are having fun building and showing proof-of-concept...but if the prevailing trends hold, I think there will be a time down the road where mining-based heating will make a ton of sense over the long run. An average furnace/heat pump costs several thousand dollars...I think there may be a time years from now where a miner-based furnace is just another competitive long-term option to chose from.
That's one of the main purposes of the channel...to push the technology and show what could be done. Think the late 1970s in personal computers or 1950-60s with performance add-ons for cars...early tinkering leads to innovation leads to commercially viable products for the average user. We don't know what is possible until we try...and when we learn what is possible, we can build on that and try again 🙂. Some of these ideas will definitely be failures...but some will work. We have to try them all to find out!

What I would add to that is that older miners can be obtained quite cheap. People tend to look at them only in term of bitcoin rewards vs electricity usage. If you count in the heat provided, the whole game is different. Question is not wether you can heat for free. But a lot cheaper than with alter alternatives. But I do agree with a bitcoin miner for heating for your calculations its good to have a horizon of a few years. If you can, invest in solar energy for your home. Will also make businesscase more favourable.
