I heard Marina Sirtis was delighted to have some funny lines in this. She nailed it perfectly!
Supposedly she had a blast during this scene
Which part the drunk part 😂
"Who is this jerk?"
The director of this movie.
Explains why it's such a good movie !
1:17 Ladys and Gentleman, the guy who made the Federation possible;-D
Lol that guy in the background at 1:20 wakes up and starts drinking again when the music starts playing!
lol!
1:23 I love her face before she passes out!
I'm sure Jonathan's avoiding eye contact, otherwise he'd crack up 😆
"I can't handle this guy anymore"-Troi
I’ll still laughing at the passing out part 😂
"You're blended, all right." 😂
"Timeline! This is no time to argue about time! We don't have the time!" I died from laughter first time i heard it lol
Yeah xD
Time
You really didn't. That's a ridiculous thing to say.
@@markfox1545 are you aware, that my response are 9 years old, and that you have no sense of humor?
The bit when the guy at the back just sits up and goes straight for his beer is brilliant..my mate and i used to absolutely crack up at that bit.
I didn't even notice that until I read your post! 😂
I love Cromwell in this role! He has said that this character, of all the roles he's played in his acting career, comes closest to himself in real life. LOL! 😆
Ms. Sirtis also shines here: Supremely drunk off her butt, and very self-righteous about it. An exchange not shown here, Deanna to Will: "...I was just trying to blend in..." Will returns, " ...You're blended, alright... " Uh huh.
I think, though, those scant few seconds of Cromwell brilliantly dancing to the Ooby Dooby truly makes the movie for me. Guess that makes me a dirty old lady, hm? 😸 Heh...
last paragraph was the most cursed thing I’ve read all day
That dancin always cracks me up :-)
everytime I hear this song when Im NOT watching the movie, all I think of is the dancing
@@scottythegreat1 HAHAHAHA me too.
Glad to see that Roy Orbison’s music lasted centuries!
Indeed.😸
Good music never dies
James Cromwell is one of the top reasons this movie is as insanely good as it is.
Him and, er, the other guest star!
My all time star trek movie. When Zefram Cochrane lifts off in the Phoenix and he sees Enterprise shadow he turns and exclaims 'Sweet Jesus!' as he sees a glimpse of the future made me think of Da Vinci and what his reaction if he saw the modern helicopter and together with a superb cast (James Cromwell's performance was very funny)
FYI... The song playing is Ooby Dooby by Roy Orbison.
YES that was what i was looking for ( a very long time ) thanks
I thought it was Robert Gordon
Thank you!
"Friend of yours?" "Yes." "Husband?" "No." "Good!"😂
You missed the whole Deanna "I'm Not Drunk" and "he's nuts" speech,
If I was going to fly in the worlds first warp capable space craft that was made in a post-apocalyptic world out of an old, recycled, WMD rocket...... I can't really criticize him for drinking. Cochrane is a BOSS. Magic carpet ride indeed!!!😂😂🖖🏾
That is such a fantastic scene! Love the dancing :-)
Years later, Jonathan Frakes would do the exact same facepalm after directing Thunderbirds.
BEST. DANCE. EVER!
I’m a controls engineer. That was my dance the first time I got a machine running…..
It cuts out the best part- "You're drunk"-Ryker "I am not! I'm trying to blend in to a primitive culture."--Troi "You're blended all right."---Ryker
Good to know orbison and mick Jagger moves will last into the mid. Century
The man can dance....
Yeah tha man can dance! Wish i could do that after a bottle of scotch!
The Vulcan crew danced the night away. Captain Solkar had a fine headache the next morning He never told a single soul what he and Zephram talked about when he finally reeled in home. Three days later than expected. :)
0:56 "Timeline!? This is no time to argue about time! We don't have the time! If you're looking for my professional opinion as ship's counselor, he's nuts!"
Great clip, except you missed the "I'm just trying to blend in!" part, and Riker's response to that-LOL!
One thing that always gets me about this scene, is how Cochrane is towering over Will Riker, who is usually the tallest person in the room.
Yup. James Cromwell is a good 4-5 inches taller than Jonathan Frakes.
6'7" vs 6'2" or 6'3" (he shrank over time)
The smirk he makes after Cochrane asks “Husband?”
Hey, it's the Crash and Burn Bar with its famous one-song jukebox!
Zefram and diana drunk is the best
At least Zefram Cochrane has great taste in music.
Some of the best SF takes place in bars. That's where the characters develop and you get most of the laughs. My two favs are Callahan's Crosstime Saloon and Tales of The Screaming Eagle. Great books.
i need to find a gif of that dance at the end
W / synthehol you can just shrug it off. Real booze is a whole different critter. You can't just clear your head & magically become sober.
Best StarTrek movie ever! :-D
I love watching Riker in this clip, perfect reactions!
"That'll do, Will. That'll do.."
They are not used to anything but synthohol!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, in the Star Trek universe, that is a man that sits with the physics greats (Newton, Einstein, Hawking). The father of warp drive and hence peace and prosperity of earth, Zeframe Cochran.
In Z's defense, it probably took a crazy guy to go against established science and think outside the box enough to create the warp drive.
(Nighttime at a bar, Riker walks in and sees Deanna sitting 🪑 there 👀 looking kind of drunk; Riker unplugs the music 🎼 jukebox; Deanna turns around)
Deanna: (yells at Riker)
No 👎, Will! Don’t Turn Off The Mu-!
(Cochrane throws a glass 🥃 bottle at Riker and it breaks)
Cochrane: (talking to Deanna)
Who is this jerk?
(Riker drops 💧 the plug 🔌 to the jukebox)
Cochrane: (talking to Riker)
Who told you to turn off my music 🎼?
(Deanna introduces Zefram Cochrane to William Riker)
Deanna: (talks to Riker)
Will Riker, Zefram Cochrane.
(Cochrane and Riker sheds a look 👀 at each other; then Cochrane 👀 looks back at Deanna)
Cochrane: Is he a friend of yours?
Deanna: Yes 👍.
Cochrane: Husband?
Deanna: No 👎.
Cochrane: Good 👍. (Smiles)
(Cochrane picks a glass 🥃 and pour the melted ice 🧊 out and pours himself a drink 🥃)
Cochrane: Now this, Deena-
Deanna: DEANNA!
(Cochrane opens the cork with his mouth 👄; he pours Deanna one ☝️ as well)
Cochrane: This…is the good 👍 stuff.
Riker: (talking to Cochrane)
👨⚕️ Dr. Cochrane-
(Cochrane shush 🤫 Riker)
Cochrane: To the PHOENIX…
(Both shed a toast 🥂)
Cochrane:…may she rest in peace ☮️ 🪦.
(Both drink 🍹 up ⬆️;
Deanna grab her neck and throat and 😷 coughs; Cochrane hits the bar table and stretch out his left arm; he pick up a bottle of drink 🍹 that they had)
Cochrane: OK, that wasn’t so good 👎.
(Cochrane throws down the bottle on the floor and the glass breaks)
imagine other historical figures and wonder how they really were
like the movie coming abraham lincoln vampire hunter
wha?
Roy Orbison is a masterpiece
Epic scene
and of course this scene is being played in the background while a first contact temporal mission is taking place in STO
Yeah I don't really complain. Just always wondered why they couldn't give her better dialogue.
That is SOOOOOO me.... Like the time travellers got me to a T. Oh the part where he throws the bottle...
Cut out the best part where Deanna pokes Will in the chest
This reminds me of the "Humanity is Doc Brown" Tumblr. Cochrane is not how Vulcans would have done ANYTHING.
I didn't like the movie as much as I wanted to, but it has some great parts and this was one of them...
Best scene in the movie
She is Captain Obvious though. "I sense danger captain" Duh XD
1:24-1:32. That look explains why it took him 15 years to get his own ship
To be fair, they offered him command of the USS Melbourne after only three years on the Enterprise. It didn't take him 15 years to get his own ship, it took him 15 years to quit waiting for Picard to retire and finally accept a command other than the Enterprise.
Table..... meet my face
The Jim Lahey of the Star Trek Universe.
Epic trek!
Best dancing ever!
1:24 the best!
Im currently working on a federation history channel on TH-cam my first episode is hopefully going to drop tomorrow and gonna be about the event of first contact. Im gonna end the video with this song.
even people who act civilized in general, have their real colors show when they toss back a few shots of hard liquor
Husband?? Well, in the future time!!
I like his smirk when she says "No."
what was the music?
Roy Orbinson - Ooby dooby
infrawiz
thanks pal!
Good times... 😎
I tried to do the Cochran arm thing once when I was drunk and took a shot of Tequila. I ended up falling off the stool. lol
he's nuts!
1:19 That's exactly how I dance when I get smashed 😆
that dance so funny
I could dance like that, if I felt like it...
8 hours from bottle to throttle?
DEANNA!
lol
Muy bueno
Deanna, not Diana.
Why edit out Deanna's saying, "What was I saying?" and Riker telling her she's drunk?
I have no idea why I did that ^^ I was more drunk than her when I posted this.
Funnier scene, Tori drunk
Lol!
She me your mossy bank
TIME
god dam adds
Da fug??
