This video just shows that, with some ingenuity, creativity and some elbow grease, amazing things can happen. Thank you so much for posting this. May you be richly blessed.
Awesome! I still have my old Weber gas grill from 20+ years ago that's been un-used for over 5 years now just sitting in the sunroom. I've held on to it because it has the original heavy cast iron grates, which I prefer, that do not come with these modern gas grills. I was gonna rebuild the internals and controls but never got around to it and wife's been bugging me to toss it out. Finally had the idea of converting it to a charcoal/ wood grill instead. Thanks for the great tips. Keep on rockin'! 🤟
Thanks for the video, our BBQs here in Australia tend to be a very different design, so I’m still experimenting with mine and LOVE the lump Charcoal flavour 💕
Thanks for sharing! And great ideas too! ;) . I just happened to get a propane BBQ from a neighboor that I want to convert into a charcoal smoker and wanted to put a small metal box with a chimney underneat it. So I love the idea of using thin metal sheet to do stuff and covering the holes.
Did the same to my gas grill . But i cut a broiler pan up you use in the oven for steaks. It covers the bottom to hold the wood. I took off the side plastic counters and replaced them with plastic cutting boards cut to same dimensions
Most grill conversion videos I've found don't address the airflow issue. This is what I was looking for, thank you. If you close all of your vents does it reduce the airflow enough to extinguish the coals and possibly reuse later ?
@@petescarportdo you have issues smothering the fire after you're finished cooking? Also, those two holes on both sides of the lid are for a rotisserie 😉 I also have airflow issues in my gas conversion and was thinking about sheet metal
Yes never could smother it with air cut off so usually try and guage close to the amount of coal I would need for each cook and just let it burn off at end
@@petescarport I use a square Weber vegetable basket for my coals for low and slow cooks and Im able to move it to my Weber to smother it so I can reuse my coals for the next cook
2 things. Are you a robot? Takes you like 45 seconds to blink. How do you have a business that you been doing for 17 years and still look 24? Either way, love your vids Pete keep up the good work
That video you made with the diamond car mats, I'm just replying on the newest video here but I was wondering, when you were going through all this and that of laying the mats down, how many clips actually come with it bc you showed only 3 extra clips, but I can already see I would end up needing like 15 or 20 besides where they attach the clips to the mat already, I would need like 15 or 20 , in a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And is it still holding up strong after a few months?
If I use a good amount of wood I get a ton of smoke flavor it's all about how you vent it too. Has to be honest I'm new to the barbecue game but have been cooking my whole life. I want to say I caught on pretty quick and have a system down for the grill and use it at least four times a week

So if I were to make it again I would most likely seal it off better and than you would be able to

You should be able to ask for more. They are a good company but I think it came with a out 9 or 10
Ribs looked great. How much smoke flavor did you get?
