I fucking love living in Europe. For me it doesn't mean harmful homogenization. It means an absolutely beautiful diversity that's easily discoverable.
I was raised in France, learnt French, but with American parents. Learnt Spanish in school. Now getting a masters degree in Italy, learnt Italian. Love it here. Probably going to Germany next year as part of my program. Probably going to learn German and probably going to love Germany too.
Why would anyone think Europe is harming individual nation's cultures? It makes me appreciate my French culture and history even more, just as much as it makes me appreciate Europe for having such a diversity of historical and beautiful countries.

I don't know much about cd projekt or who created skype, but with the context and the Harry Potter example, I'm guessing they were founded or had a major notable boost by someone who either lived/was from one of those poorer economic zones that recieved aid, making a better circumstance for them to thrive and create what they did. Or they were poor themselves and received that aid before being successful with their programing. I know Rowling often talks about how poor she was before getting the first book published and receiving financial aid at points, so I'm guessing the others had similar stories. Not having to worry so much about starving lead to innovation that birthed massive economic bonuses for their country.

Your comparison with the USA and Mexico is absurd. The US and Mexico are not in a political union. A more apt comparison would be between US states, which have had "open borders" for 200+ years. Your comparison to Mexico would be more akin to the EU's relationship with Morocco or Syria. You don't have open borders with them.

Hey man, i've got this test on European Institutional Law this friday and there's this one thing i don't get.. At the end of the video you talk about the freedom of goods and that this was enabled by the Single European Act (1987). You say that it gave equal standards for goods in all of the EU by harmonising laws of the Member States. The thing i don't get however is that how is this competable with the Cassis de Dijon-ruling (1979), which stated that whenever a good is produced in a Member State according to the rules of that Member State, it shall have free access in the rest of the Union?? Didn't "Cassis de Dijon" already solve the problem of differences in standards for goods??

The UK has been a net contributor every single year hasn't it, since it joined in 1973? So the UK paid more than it got, every year. You video at 2:40 is misleading at best on that, if not completely dishonest. I like the fact that we now need to thank the EU for Harry Potter though :) Also, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't some of the longest border walls those of Spain's walls in Africa? Yes, the same Spain that is part of the EU. Lastly, the EU is not Europe. Europe is a continent, and the EU is a political organisation which came into existence in 1992 with the Treaty of Maastricht.

The problem is the British are Anglophiles . They rarely travel or work in Europe nor do they speak European languages .British people tend to live and travel to English speaking countries such as in the commonwealth and the USA Also having open border’s into the UK is just not going to work because Britain is a small island and also a popular world destination immigration would just be too much
The British people were never going to ruled by laws from a centralised European Commission. The Eu to the British smacks of dictatorship. You can’t vote out rules, regulations and diktats. In Britain the people have the power of the vote . It’s not like in Europe where the state has all the power. In Britain the government has no powers. It only governs by the consent of the people and can easily be removed .You cant remove the European Commission . That’s the difference . The Eu was never going to work in the Uk.

See this is why we need to make sure the EU survives once you take in to account what the EU does you see why it's highly unlikely to fail
As if the EU fails Europe fails
It's one of the reasons Germany did what it did in Greece they needed to stabilize the euro so that Europe doesn't have a recession
I understand the complaints against the EU but dismantling the EU is basically economic suicide for the European economies
Greece was handed money to pay off loans during the Greek financial crisis so that its fall wouldn't hurt Greece and especially the European market
Overall the EU is better but we must safeguard what it stands for and prevent it from failing at its own goals
We must safeguard the EU against authoritarians and skeptics looking to disassemble the EU like how in Germany threatening democracy if a criminal offense which is wise considering the history of how dictators rise
