I love that gravel bikes are meant for exploring new places. I also love that they're quiver killers, mine doubles as my road bike with a 2nd wheelset and it's honestly no slower than my old road bike.
Hey Having only ever owned mountain bikes at around the £100 point and struggled to keep up with my chums on far superior bikes in both cost and type, I finally treated myself to an upgrade. So I now own a gravel bike. I took it out for its first proper ride on the weekend on a mix of gravel tracks, paved roads and wet mud. I flipping loved it! The difference in riding a quality bike fit for the types of riding you do and a cheap mountain bike that weighs in at around the same as a small car is way more noticeable then I would ever had imagined. So, first trip out I know you’re all going to want to know how I did?! The ride, by the numbers...... 1 hour 35 minutes, 18 miles and 236 feet in elevation. You gotta start somewhere right? All the best from the UK.
Sometimes I think you have to many bike choices doggy. I'd have a hard time picking with the steeds in your barn as well. You need a cardboard spinny rigamoroll maybe? Like a board game of bikes. 🤘
Yeah now rides like THAT are what got me into cycling! Just finished possibly the last ride of this season and already cant wait fot the next year's to begin. Great content, good vibes, amazing views, pleasant pacing. Thank you for your videos!
To ride gravel, is to suffer. To survive this suffering give meaning to the ride and why you do it. I felt your suffering and can so identify with it. This is one of many many reasons, why I watch all of your videos
This is dope! I grew up in Corvallis and rode my Bridgestone MB3 "mountain bike" all over the central coast range fire roads in the mid/late 80s, dodging the logging trucks as they hauled out the most beautiful old growth. The fire roads go forever and ever. I miss that shit. Glorious.
6:59 oh I'm going to check these out. I'm not so much a prescription glasses nerd, I have to wear prescription glasses 🤓🧐🤓🧐🤓. No prescription glasses, no riding, I am that nearsighted 🙂.
You look so cold when you get back into your truck. I would stop riding 20 mins before end and turn on the heater for the Model 3. Ensuring a heated posterior when I jumped back in !! Thanks for the video !
Wait, what kind of water was that, Dustin? 3:03 All these body types and shapes out there, and the John Belushi guy is the strongest rider? One of the things I love about cycling.
You have earned my subscription. Just know I don’t give the out to everyone. Not some subscribe smash hussey. I love gravel bikes for the freedom. Not just constrained to road for exploring.
Good stuff! Beautiful ride, although it looked a bit uncomfortable at times, but that's what adventure is about, right? Cool tunes and love the attitude! Subscribed!
I end up riding the 2021 Norco Indie 4 everywhere. I hate it but now that I got rid of the Tourney stuff and put ancient Deore 7 speed stuff and fenders.. happy I think when they determined 47/50 was the best with 26 we should have just kept that with the others. I don't go more than 2.1 or under 35mm. I think it's all about the casing and tube etc.. I pair TPU presta with everything. also. I would be out there with my Trek 7300fx disc 29 mod. 2.1 happy medium
The reason Ron turned back had nothing to do with his lack of correct attire! It was he realised he didn't bring you any food,. You need to remind of this on your next ride. Great vid.
Been meaning to ride Valsetz and been VERY curious about the Valley of the Giants! It's been hard to find much information about the area, so super stoked at this sneak peak.
On those long dissents, one needs to either go slow, very slow, which is hard to mentally accept. That hyperthermia is not childs play. Or wear an insulating layer that is ridiculously heavy and cumbersome to pack on the accent. So, perhaps a multiple vehicle relay system is called for in such cases.
Chamois pulls double duty in the winter months, for padding and for soaking up the wetness like a big ol diaper when you choose not to bring fenders on a winter ride in Oregon 😳
Dustin......this was one of your best yet.....bloody fantastic entertainment. Could have done with a tad more Ron but the amazing and stunning trees easily made up for that. By the way what's a Super Bowl.....is it a really really big bowl???? Love the Jawbreaker's, i've 3 pairs....coooool......
Great and fun ride as usual! What's the reference for your Oakleys? I have both short sight and astigmatism, and I cannot find bike prescription glasses for the hell of me.
That’s weird. I remember I knew guys back in the 90s who had Oakleys that fit a prescription lens behind the main lens. I would think there would be all kinds of options these days.
Face it, it's only sportsball until the Vikings win the super bowl😉 I started to feel bad for Ron leaving the ride when there was blue sky and sunshine soon after... but in the end it looks to be the exactly right decision! How was Devin's ride on the broken down Volkswagen bug gravel?
Hi Dustin, Could you please let me know the model name of those prescription glasses? I've looked at the sportrx site via your link but wasn't able to find them
Now what I really want to know is what you think of the ‘Rock and Roads’ Dustin?? I have been running them on my Planet X Ti Tempest since I got it in October 2020, I run 32mm Vittoria Zaffiro Pro if I am road riding and the R and R’s for everything else-I have actually done some club road rides on the R and R’s which went ok-so what is your opinion??
I love the options for adventure and the pure unadulterated plushness🤤. Would be an honor to do the EBD podcast or any other excuse to have an interesting conversation with you. Ever want to hear from a type one diabetic, charismatic teacher who is making the most out of his small town, let me know player.
Epic slough! Would rather watch your content over the super bowl 1000% As with many Oakleys, while they certainly look functional, how should I put this politely...they look special AF
Hey Dustin, loved the doc. Thank you. The irony is in Australia I rode in 38 c. Gee it was hot. Winter is on its way may I ask what gloves you recommend when the temp hits -5 c?
Dude, ROB over at Sport RX?!?!?!? Need to get on those Wiley X frames - added straight up ballistic ANSI protection - plus you can crash, art and DIY in them. I know a guy, hit a brother up. Also....pocket pizza!
Do you get a fishbowl effect with those glasses at all? I tried a pair of rx wraparound glasses like that years ago, can't remember the brand, but I felt super drunk wearing them, never end up using them
What do you LOVE about Gravel Bikes?
Grinding away the cartilage in my knees on steep ass climbs
Gearing it up 😁
Can go on casual road rides with my friends, and rural or logging roads if i so choose. The versatility is nice.
Cool clothing and bikes
I love that gravel bikes are meant for exploring new places. I also love that they're quiver killers, mine doubles as my road bike with a 2nd wheelset and it's honestly no slower than my old road bike.
I love how Ron has no problem bailing. If he doesn't have the right gear, he won't be a martyr.
He has enough experience under his belt
Hey

Man. Everything about this video is GREAT. Love the musical choices and the style. Keep it up man!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Masterpiece! The trees, the dudes, the rain, the maps...nailed it soo hard!💥👌👌👌
My man!!
I still need a gravel bike...
But Dude, I don't know why, this is my favorite video of yours. Great scenery, great tunes, great shots!
You are a player!!
@@EverythingsBeenDone yeah man! What’s the title of the songs, if you don’t mind my asking? Need them for my cycling playlist.😅
Ron had that all planned out, evil genius.
Beautiful scenery. That old growth forest looks Awesome!!
That section made the ride!
Always break before the corner. We love the rain in Ireland.
Sometimes I think you have to many bike choices doggy. I'd have a hard time picking with the steeds in your barn as well. You need a cardboard spinny rigamoroll maybe? Like a board game of bikes. 🤘
How about a spinner? “Dustin’s wheel of bikes”” where the pointer lands that what he rides...?
Yeah now rides like THAT are what got me into cycling! Just finished possibly the last ride of this season and already cant wait fot the next year's to begin. Great content, good vibes, amazing views, pleasant pacing. Thank you for your videos!
Your videos are always good, or ... great! Cool guys, great tunes, beautiful scenery and epic play by play. Keep it up!
To ride gravel, is to suffer. To survive this suffering give meaning to the ride and why you do it.
I felt your suffering and can so identify with it. This is one of many many reasons, why I watch all of your videos
The best editing and soundtrack ..... once again, thanks DK
“Hey Ron, tell me about your lack of rain gear!”
LMAO!!
@@EverythingsBeenDone The title should be why you need more rain gear, who cares about the bike. Bike ain't going to save you in the wild.

Beautiful ride. Crummy a** weather. I would never leave the house if I lived there. Colorado in case you wondered. Ride on.
I like the Ron method of setting up a ride with brutal climbs and bailing lol. Might try that regardless of weather
LOL you’re even more into football than I am. Good to see I’m not the only non-football watching man in the country
I heavily support the Pittsville Pikers. Best football team ever!
I have a gravel bike (sorta). Now I need to go ride it in Oregon, the magical bike trail land!
6:59 oh I'm going to check these out. I'm not so much a prescription glasses nerd, I have to wear prescription glasses 🤓🧐🤓🧐🤓. No prescription glasses, no riding, I am that nearsighted 🙂.
"Please feel my pain" 😂

😂🤣😭

@@EverythingsBeenDone been enjoying the vids! Now I want an e gravel bike.
I rode for 3 hours yesterday. 14 ft of climbing and not a tree anywhere. I am moving to Oregon.
Woah! Did the same ride last year. Glad to know it’s still just as gnarly. Good for you guys!
I'm new to your channel and really dig the videos! Thank you for including us on your Chunderland adventures! I love all of the bikes.
Oh I liked that drum break through the bumpy parts section

Too funny! Love those mud scenes! And the music is soooo appropriate! Lol
Anyone knows the brand and the model of the frame bag? Thanks!
Good morning great music,
Can you put up a playlist please?
Loved this epicsode, especially the psychedelic music is great
Is there a snail mail shipping price option on the website for stickers?
They are all snail mail
We Need A Report on Ron.........Did he make it to safety? Is he ok? Why did he switch from Rene Hearse to Teravail Tires? So many Questions......
Great video! What is the name of the band covering Something in the Air (I think it is a cover anyway) you used in the video? I must know!
Whoa. Didn't know that Devon was the one doing the voice of Crusty the Clown!?!? Amazing!

Cool glasses. Tech Noir on Pico Boulevard, what movie is that from 🎥?
Winter in Oregon and not prepared for rain?
🇮🇩 I'm from Indonesia, I like your content. keep gravel 👍🏿☮️
stoked for that directors commentary!
It’s now live!
Logging slime?? No way! That's too awesome to be real. Ron is a robot imposter from the future.
Beautiful scenery. But how cold was that?
Hey Dustin, good shout on the Oakley Prescription cycling glasses! Which model are those? Thanks!
They are the jawbones! I still love them.
To ride gravel, is to suffer. To endure and survive this suffering adds some deep meaning to the ride.
To go further and faster on trails less travelled. 😊
7:58 this is hands down the best part of the video XD
Ron is the route building maestro!!
Agreed!
Your videos are always a joy thank you so much

That forest was so beautiful
unfortunately I'm too blind for any fun cycling rx glasses. my prescription is too high to fit in the curved lenses!
Mine is on the edge. There are several dual lens options that should still work for you!
I enjoy your videos I have to ask what pants do you guys wear in the rain?
Oh my... I so wanna ride this route. I'm not a football fan really but "Magicals". yes Magicals.
I love the options for adventure and the pure unadulterated plushness🤤.

My gravel bike is a 2003 Toyota Tacoma.
Yes I am subscribed! Awesome videos !!
That forest is ace! Is the Red and black Gore jacket a Micheal Jackson Thriller edition?!😂😂👌👌

I even had a clip of me talking about my Michael Jackon jacket...LOL
@@EverythingsBeenDone haha! Brilliant! With those glasses you’re rocking it! 💪💪👌👌👌😂
