    There are SO many good trail shoes on the market now. I purchased some Salomon Slab Genesis, Hoka Speedgoat 6 and Dynafit Ultra 100's for myself as a Christmas gift last month but also have a lot of La Sportiva, Scarpa and other Euro brands. These are very interesting!

    Looks like a great shoe, and nice review! Comment about the sizing, when a shoe is off that much (a full size) it makes it difficult for stores to order properly and sell the shoe. It also creates a lot of overhead with returns and exchanges. It's crazy to me that a company in 2024 can't figure out their sizing.

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think La Sportiva has always been this way. I suspect it's a climbing thing - climbing shoes are of course extremely tight, so I think their more rugged mountain shoes have seemed to follow that pattern.

      Was waiting anxiously for this review to drop! Did not disappoint! Knit collar aside, I’d be curious to see a comparison with the VJ Maxx 2. • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks - I prefer doing it on the run anyway so it works out. Yes, I'm 10.5 - full size up from my true to size 9.5. I do often go 10 for "ultra" sizing, so depends how you want to look at it. La Sportiva does run small, objectively speaking. I list all my sizing in the comps sections of written reviews. This one's coming out in Spring, so it will go into the 2025 bucket for sure. Sometimes my "best of" picks get a bit mixed up around December. But I got these after I completed my picks.

    How do you think this would would perform on technical mountainous long runs, eg the Hardrock course

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't see any reason they wouldn't perform just as well as any Hoka for example or S/LAB Genesis. There's no plate - so that may be a preference thing - if you need/prefer rock plate protection or not.

  • @francoisbouchet9907
    @francoisbouchet9907 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    seems lilke a good S/lab Genesis alternative (with better stability?) from La Sportiva! ... I love my regular Prodigios and am really interested in those pros... is the toe protection stiffer than the regular Prodigios? that's the one thing I'm a bit skeptical on my regular ones, especially on gnarly mountain terrain.
    thanks!

      Yes - I'd be interested in a comparison with the S/Lab Genesis too please. Taking on a mountainous 100-mile race next summer and was fairly sure the S/Lab would be my shoe of choice but this review has me thinking otherwise now 😁 Thanks Mike!

    • @HumbleRunning

      Good pick for a comp. Very similar shoe in terms of idea and execution. I'd roughly say the Genesis slightly more agile, and the Pro-Pro more runnable, faster. More details on comps when I do the written review.

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, toe bumper is definitely thicker and more rigid than the regular model. That one has just a thinner film-type layer. The Pro has some rigidity to it.

    How technical could you go? Have a sky mtn race, lots of above tree line, ridge running(walking). Would they stand up? Was thinking NF Off Trail TR, but like the run ability of these. Thanks

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to say exactly - probably depends on how well they fit your foot and how secure you feel. The TPU in the midsole is definitely energetic - maybe unstable it it's too rocky, loose rocks, shale etc. Off Trail TR is a different category I'd say. If it's really that rough you may need some type of protection underfoot. The Pro Pro still leans "runnable" mountain terrain I'd say.

      RTR Sam chiming in for Mike. I had one day in Prodigo Pro during UTMB week and have reviewed S/Lab Ultra Glide here:www.roadtrailrun.com/2024/09/salomon-slab-ultra-glide-review-max.html. It will depend on your pacing. If you are a "faster" runner in tech terrain then the Prodigo Pro is my initial thought. The Ultra Glide does fine but its strength is in either slower paces or smooth terrain where it is fantastic and surprisingly one of the very best "road" shoes I tested in 2024

      Option combo🙂. Like these examples: Prodigio pro and Salomon Genesis or Prodigio Pro + Hoka SG6 or Prodigio Pro + X shoe. Thanks

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@luizfelippe1495 Hard to say with so much dependent on context. As far as an ultra-racing combo, I'd go with one of the "Big 3" I talked about in the video for very long ultras, and the Prodigio Pro would be a good complement for a little less distance/duration. The LS is also way more usable for training. So much is dependent on the terrain you're in though. I could make a case for using the Prodigio Pro for pretty much everything too.
