Excellent review thank you. Love my Agility Peak 5 and will stick with them as don’t run technical trails just hard packed here in the new forest Hampshire uk. 🇬🇧
Thanks Mike for the review! In your written compass I’d be curious to compare it to the SLAB Genesis. Both Matryx uppers and similar lug depth distance shoes.
thanks ! i would like tom see a comparison of this Merrell and Tecton X 3and Salomon Slab Ultra, all similar at weight and stack height, thanks (one with pkate)
I may have SLAB Ultra on the way for testing. I did do an A/B/C comp video against the Enduris 4 and Caldera 8 - which I think are more direct comparisons.
Great vid and thanks ! How does this shoe do on a long trail (20+ mile) in terms of comfort to Brooks Caldera 7/8 and On Cloudsurfer Trail (most comfy I've ever worn) ?
I'm testing Caldera 8 right now - the Brooks is heavier so that would be a big difference maker for me. Will be posting a short initial review video soon on those. Cloudsurfer Trail I've never ventured to take that long. They're comfy for sure, but to me a bit unstable. The lugs on those also can't handle real trails. Much better foothold and security with both the Merrell and the Brooks.
I'm really excited for these. I love a soft shoe, having run in multiple pairs of speedgoats since version 2. I find the speedgoat 6 to be way too firm though, don't know if it's the midsole density or just the midsole geometry change. Will your review have a comparison to the SG? If not, how would you compare the two just in terms of durometer of midsole?
Unfortunately I haven't tried V6, which I know many ppl feel are firmer than past versions. I do think these are comparable to the SG though in terms of ride. I'll detail in comps section of the written review. I will say one thing - for me, the Merrell toebox is way way better
These are different - MS4 has a softer feel underfoot and less of a drop. MS4 is more flexible throughout, maybe better in technical terrain if you can work with the soft feel. Adapt is more supportive underfoot if on the other hand the MS4 feels too squishy for you.
Thanks for the review. It sounds like it could be a good alternative to the Mafate Speed 4 for long mountain races. The Mafate 4 has worked great for me but I'm not loving what Hoka has planned for the 5 (time will tell).
Great video- wish they came out earlier.

Good pick, I'll think that one through for the written review. S/LAB Genesis is way more flexible underfoot for sure though.
Interesting design. Willing to try a pair out

@@HumbleRunning oh thanks, very interesting!

@@HumbleRunning Thank you - I will await your Caldera 8 review - did you mean the Merrill feels heavier than Caldera?
@@BobTrieste No, Caldera for sure heavier. +1.0 oz in the samples that I have.
@HumbleRunning ahhh, this may lead me to try the Merrill MTL Adapt.
I'm looking for the trail version of what the Brooks Glycerin Max is for the road. All day comfort, stack, soft yet firm.

@@MikeP-BoiseLife Awesome, sounds promising! Thanks for the review, Mike!
Would these be a good next shoe for a Mafate Speed 4 lover? Or just stick with the MS4?

That's one of the top comps I have in the written review. Little different feel but will be covered in the written review.
Thanks! any comparision to the New Balance More Trail?
I'll do comps in the written review. But actually, I've never run in a NB trail shoe = /
When is the release date for these shoes ?
May 2025
I think the Zegama 2s would be a good comp with these. A battle of the thicc dual density cruisers
Zegama 2 way softer. Full comp will be in the review.
@@MikeP-BoiseLifethank you! Looking forward to it 🫡
Morning all. No for me. Like from 🇪🇸 Spain. Happy week.
Says May 2025 on screen text. 🙄🤣👍
