  • Wooden Dummy Form is mainly about recovering from mistakes, and if this is not properly understood, all the applications will be done out of CONTEXT and they will be ineffective.
Today we will look at the first section of the form and the Gan Sau movement which repeats itself over and over. We will discuss its applications and also how to double its power.

never in my wildest dreams did I think i would get the same feeling as watching Saturday morning cartoons from a Kungfu youtube clip. And I mean that in a respectful nostalgic way!

I'm always amazed & impressed by the control & trust you both have to/with each other. That's in addition to the phenomenal insights & teaching you're sharing. Thanks for putting this out there. 🙏

The natural adaptability is the best thing about wing chun and this sifu is very fluid and realistic. Much appreciated

this video is full of good insights and applications. I have been training Wing Chun for several years and keep seeking understanding of various techniques, and blending other influences/styles to make them practical / applicable, to 'feel' things instead of just memorisation. Your gan sau examples, the hip pivot, the sink, make sense, it is good you mentioned the spiral/rotation of the arms at the end. If you analyse many of the motions, so many movements have a spiral component and can be used to boost power and speed. It is interesting having learned the 3 forms how different things come up and new ideas sprout. Then also there are parts of the Bat Jam Dao knives form that also have overlaps...
Today we were experimenting with using the forearm / laan sau rotation to strike. You can hit the dummy face/neck with that when you are close, like a powered up bong sau / laan sau. Siu Lim Tau work with some new students we were able to show some other portions where the spiraling/ rotation added power, structure, etc.
I like how you describe movements and feelings, as well as the practical and physics / angles / principles of Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Bagua, etc. and seek to go beyond 'just doing the motions' into using things practically and more effectively, and actually more naturally and automatic. Thank you again for what you've done and continue to do.
PS: that is a cool and interesting dummy, you can move it around but has a weighted base; mine is in the garage mounted to the wall, I got it from Sifu several years ago, but having a mobile one would be good. Where is it from?

Gaang sao is a HUEN SAO movement uses to FORCE a transition much like the QUAN SAO where we step or BONG SAO we transition with. The GAANG we basically throw the arms in a circle. Instead of us having to step with a deflection, we use power and slam his arms with it, switching and shifting his top body attacks. 😎🙏SON TSI I would be careful with the blocking roundhouses thing cuz people will feint low and bring it up. Not so safe. And as a punch block. Not really used that way. JUM is actually much more better. Even a simple sloppy FOOK. The truth about Gaang SAO is, it’s a FORCED SHIFT move. Cut in with it. Reach inside. Right hand inside slap and left hand back fist GUA CHOY. Think hot potato. We’re juggling the arm back and forth with it. Then we have KEI JAANG too. Fantastic show Adam. ㊙️😎💥🤛

I just signed up for the online wing chun program and it advertises a certain number of lessons, but I only have access to 1 week of content. So you actually have to pay way more than advertised to get the content advertised. Its actually $50 per 4 lessons, not $50 for all the lessons.
    Very misleading.
