    I just wanted to thank for this. I'm solo training at home with a dummy that just arrived, and your videos helped a lot. Thank you.

      🥺 It's having a family who wants you to be a part of the tradition, but what they didn't like was I preferred wing Chun instead of hung gar.
      Maybe sifu didn't have that kind of pressure. Chinese families are a bit of a pickle for us

    Couple of things. First, I love watching your stuff and feel that your explanations are very thorough. Thank you! Just wondering, is that wooden dummy actually wood? Also, what is that dripping sound in the background? Wish I lived closer to BC! I am training under Grandmaster Kwok with Ip Man lineage. So much to learn!

      Originally it was just wood, I think modern ones are plastic or something. That one looks a little light in weight, density, and the sound is weird yeah. I don't know.

    Oh sifu, wasn't it better to fix it with rails and just slide it? 😅
    Ok, that muk yan chong looks lighter than the damned one, full heavy wood. Pain at first.
    I don't know why do you use that kind of dummy, or everything is like made of plastic these days? 😅

      He mentions in the course intro that it's because they wanted to film in the studio here they were renting, but they can't drill things in, so they used a plastic one.

      @@virtuafighter3 Where did you get this kind of dummy from?

    • @virtuafighter3
      @virtuafighter3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@leibi1 I bid for mine second-hand off, ebay. I bid around £100. I would not pay more for that, as that is what it is worth materials wise. When it came out in the UK it was about £150 and the price kept creeping up to £300+. Now I see on Amazon UK it is £400+. This is not worth that as it is hollow plastic. You fill the base with water to give it mass. It can take a beating and a kicking - I have see on someone on TH-cam doing that. I already had another dummy and this complements that, due to its mobility.
      If you can get this cheaper it is wise. Otherwise you will feel a bit guilty spending money on something that is like a water container for the garden.
      (Having said that, if you use it, and you train with it regularly, and your skills improve, then anything is worth it over time, and everything Wing Chun wooden dummy is expensive anyway).
      If you look at the video above you will see holes on the far side cut out. That is because it comes with 3 other arms and an extra leg, that can go in, too, on the other side, so 2 people can train at once. Or you have some arms and a leg at a different height should you want to go to the other side and train that, or you have a child etc.

    • @TheAnsonysc

      plastic is cheaper than wood and can be produced by machines with same models.
