I know it's 2 years late now, but for future reference, you don't pry just the white cover off the back of this model: you insert the spudger between the glass and the gray bezel so the the bezel comes off as well...you'll sweat a bit as you do this, since it requires a lot of force and you're right up against the glass as you do it, but it CAN be done. Definitely not with metal tools though: use plastic guitar picks to do this ! This explains why the connector wasn't fully exposed and you had to dig out the microphone part - the gray part was still attached...

The front cover is what needs to be removed for proper replacement of the battery and charging cable. Use a pry tool between the screen and the plastic bezel. Currently working on my mums Tab 3 for not charging issues though i believe i received a faulty port replacement.

Hi, Great Video & very helpful. My tablet has turned off and will not swtich on at all, my pc doesn't recognize it. I've charged the battery externally but it won't turn on, & if I plug it into a wall charger the motherboard starts heating up on the upper right hand side of the tablet (under the power button). I've unplugged all flex cables and even changed the usb power connector cable but to no avail. I've tested the power connector on the mainboard with a voltage pen tester & no voltage passes when the tablet is being wall charged or when the battery is connected to the tablet. Is there any way to pinpoint the problem & fix the tablet?

Gotta love the easy jobs. I don't know what they did to that connector but it was nasty inside.

I replaced the battery and the connector. The battery charges and a couple of times I could see the tablet screen showing that it was charging. After that the tablet wont turn on I tried doing the power and volume up but nothing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks

Mine is measuring 5V even after the cable... I updated android a week ago and now It wont charge... I dont even know which of all my chargers was the original, so I have been using the same I use to power my phone (galaxy s7 edge)... It worked fine but not it doesnt even let the device start... Is it possible they updated the drivers to make it unusable? like "you are not using the original charger, so it wont charge"?

Have a GT-N8020 tablet 10.1 Samsung.Diconnected the battery and charged it direct from my lab psu. I charged the battery upp to 50% and connected it to mainboard and it worked fine.I found out the chargind cable plug was upside down so if symbol on the plug was facing up like it should, the pins in the plug could not get contact with charge port( a cheap copy cable is my guess) I got a new orginal charging port and new cable with that is correct.Still do not detect charger.Could not use more time to fix it then. That was over 2 years ago. I tried to turn it on today and it still had some power left so battery is fine. Can it be charging circuit?.Do you have some tips. still learning after 40 years doing repair.

Doesn't the metal pry tool scratch plastics? I guess u need to be really careful not to scratch the cosmetics. Prefer to use plastic to be safe.
