      Similar thing happened to me with a high school crush. We never dated but hung out a few times until I heard she had said something disrespectful about me to her friends behind my back and I made a similar comment in kind. About 15 years later, we had a run in because we had a mutual friend who asked me to pick up their kid from daycare since I lived close by and hand the kid off to my ex-crush who was gonna babysit until the mom got off work. We exchanged numbers after that and on the first text conversation, she said something to the effect of "God brought me back to her" and my brain registered that as a red flag because when I wanted to go out with her, she made it a point to make me feel like I was unworthy but now that she was a single mom who put on a few pounds, suddenly I was very appealing to her. I told her I wasn't interested in being more than friends and she stopped talking to me not long after lol

    The scene is so powerful-- Hitch's "Oh...shit" is such an accurate reaction to seeing an ex things ended badly with by accident. She genuinely doesn't remember what happened because, to her, what she's done in her career up to this point makes up for it and they were "just in college." She's also so confused at her inability to charm him and doesn't understand why he wouldn't want to spend more time with her. I've watched the scene 6-7 times and I keep rewatching because it's so well done.

    The beauty in this scene is that she influenced a man to use his own heartbreak to serve men who are but socially awkward and shy when it comes to women. Yes it left him guarded, but her college behavior was what was needed for even him to find real happiness down the road. Bad experiences suck in their moment, but it’s about what we do when we get back up. Do we hurt others for our own personal experience? He knew exactly how much time had gone by, he knew her first and last name. She was bragging about who she was, he didnt belittle her, he didnt brag, he just showed her who he was with his pull. Killed her with kindness. Even at the end, when she threw herself at him, he was like "that's tempting". Didn't embarrass her or reject her or anything. If he bitched about what happened, she would have defended herself and been angry and justified herself and be glad it didnt work. His actions were like, "Im the shit and Im indifferent". And that probably hurts girls the most - that the man they had is now turnt up and doesnt give a shit about them (when most guys probably fall all over themselves for her). Well-played writers...

    As a guy that went thru something almost identical to what Hitch went thru, I have a bit of a different take on the opinion of the girl.
    I am not saying that her being with that other guy without breaking it off with Hitch was right. Both of them were in college so probably around 20. Both didn't have certain life experience. Hitch didn't know that being needy, clingy and coming on strong drives a woman away. Cressida I feel was too sensitive to Hitch's feelings to break it off with him knowing it would crush him.
    Yes she did hurt him, but unfortunately thats how relationships end. One person gets hurt, probably learns from them and becomes a better & stronger person as Hitch did. If Hitch did come full circle as he appears to have and as I did in my life, he shouldn't hold any ill feeling or a grudge towards Cressida

    • @rajhansakima
      @rajhansakima 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm not sure I agree here. Not all relationships end due to trying to protect the other's feelings from unreciprocated interest. I've been on both sides, and in each case being completely clear about the lack of desire for long term interest wound up sustaining respect on both sides. What Cressida did was shady, and though typical, shouldn't be accepted as a reasonable response.

    • @alexshah7860
      @alexshah7860 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rajhansakima I see what you are saying. Relationships don't end with one side trying to protect the other's feelings. Relationships end because one side loses interest. In this case Cresseda lost interest because Hitch came on too strong.
      The ideal thing to do is to be clear about this loss of interest, but maybe Cresseda didn't have the experience or heart to break it off with Hitch because she instinctively knew it would hurt him bad. I can understand this feeling.
      Yes what Cresseda did can be categorized as shady, but I can't say I blame her because I learned the hard way that being needy, clingy, over expressive about your love, a doormat are all sure fire ways to turn a woman off. We can't expect a college girl to handle the situation correctly.
      Believe me I had the exact same thing happen to me in college and the girl did something equally "shady" and knowing what I know now, I just can't blame her.

    This scene is just a conflict between Alex Hitchens and "Hitch", Carissa is the women that turned Alex Hitchens into "Hitch" but be mindful of the scene in the movie of what he looked like in college. Now this is really the moment that both Alex Hitchens and "Hitch" has been waiting for, to right the wrong that was done to him by being the type of man that Carissa would want but denying her the access to him. It's easy for "Hitch" to deny her but Alex Hitchens still has feelings for her due to the hurt she caused him. When he whips out the phone to flex and get the reservation that's "Hitch" but when he recalls the exact time since the last time he's seen her that's Alex. Alex starts to tell her where he lives but Hitch stops him, he acts as though he had to remember her name was "Hitch", remembering her name was Alex. Then after he's has her obviously and shamefully throwing herself on him "Hitch" steps in and rejects her in a cold blooded way.

    Really Good Scene!! Gotta Admire A Man Who's So Gentlemen Like When It Comes To Things Like These.

    Not going to lie I've begin to become very petty because females these days are ruthles when it comes to loyalty. Maybe cause I been cheated on.. and really I would just lash out if they tried to contact me later. This clip showed me it's OK to be the bigger person, and still get your point across thoroughly. Thanks for the clip bro 🙏🏾

    I love the foot at the end of the scene. Puts realism into the movie. ;)

    the way he said "oh shit Alex" and then said how long it really had been.......he's never forgetting the hurt but gently showed her his status in society and left

    Scene should have been included. Why it was cut probably because some woman didn’t want the truth out there how nasty and superficial us women can be

    0:32 - Robinne Lee. Gorgeous Jamaican sister. I remember her from her first film "Hav Plenty".

      She is absolutely stunning! Usher's music video for Confessions is the first time I saw her, before this movie. Then, I recognized her in other things (Deliver Us from Eva and National Security).

    Not just women, but men do this. On that note, I've had crushes on girls who wouldn't look my way at all or put me in the "Friend" zone. Then realizing they married the popular guy or the bad boy after high school. But most of the ones who peaked in high school tend to stay around the ones who remember their glory. Then I've had them come back years later and want to go out or date and say "you're so cute, or you're such a catch and the big one I let you get away".
    I've been the same person, you just realized that it's no longer high school and you're not the prom queen anymore and the "bad boy" translates to "asshole". Then ask "where are all the good men at?" That's the thing about us Nice guys, we are the guys you see at the gas station, grocery story, gym, work, mall, and give you a compliment for no reason. You discarded us for so long that we evolved into something else emotionally and sometimes physically. I always treat them politely like Hitch did and maybe even get together to eat or drink, but never a relationship.

    The subtlety of faking like he struggled with her name to giving her last name with the quickness

    Good scene should, have kept it.
    Similar thing happened to me at a concert in Houston. The concept of this movie in general is original and amazing. Underrated movie
