    never heard of bonsai lotus before, but I'm growing lotus in a plastic container (around 5 gal) right now.
    They need fertilizer every week or their leaves will shrivel away. I put a betta in the water so it won't harbor mosquito larva.
    I got those seeds from wild growing lotus from a certain marsh

    Dwarf Sagittaria! I’ve used this in various tanks over the years and while some stay around 2” to 3” but a lot really go for it and get to around 10”, and they don’t like being trimmed! Enjoyed this vid, it’s been a while since I saw a ‘dirtied tank’ demo. Will be interested to see how your lilies grow, will give them a try if yours go well!

      @@MARKSAQUATICS Hi mark. i examined the soil at my stream and i remembered that the soil is already occupied with other aquatic/swampy plant roots, which i am worried that it may choke out the lily since it’s mainly dollar weeds which i heard were really bad.
      Since the soil is going to be submerged and the pre-existing root systems are going to going to be broken up, will they just rot and die or will they somehow find their way back since they are in a familiar environment?

    Hey mark I know this has nothing to do with your video but I had a question about the dwarf puffers. I have 4 and while cleaning my tank I found what looked like 6 tea colored balls in my tank. I accidentally broke one and white liquid came out. Are they dwarf puffer eggs?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS

  • @jasonpeculiar

    Hey Mark, I've tried growing a few of these now in different tanks, so has the wife. They sprout no problem and send runners to the top, a small furled up pad starts to form but then it turns brown and rots off. The bulb sends out new runners, but the same happens to them all. We've don't know what we're doing wrong. Do you have any idea? Cheers.

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've found that. The way I got around it was plant them in a long shallow pot / tray of good aquatic compost plant the seed and then cover the compost with small gravel. They need lots of food to grow properly. The reason the die off is lack of nutrition. Hope this helps.
