In preparation of future yard work improvements, I decided to experience the process with growing Bonsai Water Lotus. This Video is a Day by Day journey complied over a 20 Days (give or take) time frame. Enjoy the documenting and let us know what you think about Water Lotus in the comment section bellow!
THANK YOU
I bought these because of the beautiful flowers that they showed in the picture
I must admit. with your first close up I thought you were sprouting these in some sort of Euro toilet bowl tank. LOL
Lol I love it
That’s what I thought toilet tank ! Just flush 😂
How about the flowers, do you have a video with the flowers?
I read where they said that the flowers don't appear until about 2 years!
But you only have leaves, just like mine, where's the flower? I'm your video of the woman picking the roots, she also just had giant leaves and no flowers
You have to wait for the flower to bloom
Lotus flowers usually bloom between June and August, though the exact timing can vary by location and year
I read that the blooms don't show up until about 2 years!
Thanks Awfully I am going to follow this method with my first Sacret Bonsai Seeds received today.❤
Great video! Any updates on how it looks now?
Just got some American lotus seeds from a friend. Thanks for the video. Now I know what to do:)
It's amazing how the water just rolls off the leaves. I wonder if the scientists studied this in order to make waterproof clothing and boots
Thank you so much for this video. Would we bring them indoors in the winter in a place like iowa.....Anybody with some experience on this?
Also, please post a follow-up video about your experience.
do not add any fertilizer to your water or it will kill your leaves, You can add some after the leaves are growing above the water line
Do you have to change the water? I also read to add fertilizer wrapped in paper and push down in soil to gradually dissolve
Beautifullll! When you have your lotus in the barrel, do you need to change the water?how often?
wondering the same, mine just started growing its vines so I need to transfer the seeds just like he did. Growing them in my office
I live how excited you were! ❤
Weeks in the making! The seeds look like chocolate covered almonds 😳
Are you worried about mosquitoes laying eggs at all? I feel like this set up without running water could be a mosquito attractant.
I have some fish in my buckets. If you live in a warm climate guppys should do the trick, otherwise try medakas - japanese rice fish.
Might get frogs that’s what I got
As he said, he is changing out the water daily
I just got mine today too. Thank you for your podting
are you adding any ageacide to prevent your water from turning green ??
haven't use algaecide
What about mosquitoes?? Do you put anything in the water to prevent them ? And are they in a sunny location?
Thanks
Such a good video! Wondering if you changed the water in the first 20 days? Does it rain on it? Thanks
Was that some special kind of tank that you started them in?
how are they doing? were they actually a smaller "bonsai" variety? seeds looked like they'd be from larger varieties
Can you grow these in the cold Northeast (NJ) weather? Or do they have to go inside during the cold winter months?
My Sister is doing seeds on the sill. I sent her your link!
Might be too many seeds in one container. The tubers get very large.
Very difficult to grow to flower stage. I got beautiful leaves, but then had algae problems, insect problems and leaves dying after getting spots
I enjoyed this video very much. What’s the coldest temperature bonsai lotus will tolerate?
Thanks for the comment . Lotus can resist temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F) if they are covered with an insulating cover of water or soil. Lotus will die in winter and come back in summer. I hope this answers your question.
@@Self-taught_Therapy Good morning, I really enjoy your video. How do we change water in this situation, or isn't that necessary to change? Thank you for your answer in advance.
@@dilfuzababajonova111 It's recommended to change the water every 3-4 days to prevent stagnation.
Nice video thanks help me out alot😊
I purchased lotus seeds on line but there were only 10and they came without being scarified like yours. Let me stress to anyone who is thinking of starting lotus seeds, that the scarification is a ton of work unless you use a sander. Can you provide a link as to where you bought yours?
I just got some on Temu.. and they came ready to sprout with the tops removed. Been soaking overnight and already a few are sprouting!
Can I plant the sprouts in Aquatic Potting Medium instead of soil?
What machine are you using
I've seen videos where you can just scrape the tip of the seed against concrete until the white part shows.
How long did they take to flower?
Base on my research 2 years before it bloom.
Why didn't they flower...?
i read they can take 2 years
Aw, I wanted to see the blooms. I got some of these on July 27. They are getting leaves. already They say they bloom in 45 days.
How did yours do?
I read that it takes two years!
@@donnasliger8179 That's probably more like it. Mine are just now getting leaves that coming out of the water.
I have leaves that aren't as small as those but no flowers. I poured water til it just covered the pot the seeds are growing in, inside a larger pot but I'm not sure what to do next. The leaves are quite tall and droop over the the sides. In wonder if these are Mini lotus or if they're just going to be only leaves
I've read it can take 2 years before it flowers!
the videos l seen they keep them in water with rocks not dirt
How do you deal with standing water and mosquitoes?
You can water pump
Mosquito dunks.
Where did u get the clay?
Sure wish this guy would answer some of these questions.
How do you keep mosquitos from leaving their larvae or the water from stagnating?
I bought aquatic soil and fertilizer from Amazon and bought some fine sand at lows and rocks at dollar tree.
I bought mosquito dunks at lows or Home Depot or Amazon. This doesn’t harm the fish or plants
Where is the flowers
@@brenda3650 Lotus flowers last up to 5 days and typically bloom between the months of June through August. Got this from Google
