    Crazy, I have this and hit bullseyes at 45 yards. Using exact Heavy mk ii and h&n hornets. 25 yards is a serious understatement and doesn't do the weapon justice.

    1-31-24 Just minutes ago i ordered this Gamo magnum 25 caliber break barrel air rifle after seeing these videos online, I love 25 caliber air rifles, have shot many different brands.,and onece you hunt with a 25 caliber its hard to want to go back to the smaller calibers. I wanted this one as a s.h.t.f. hunting air gun.

    Rick, have you shoot the Hatsan Speedfire 1250 Magnum repeater in .22? If so, what did you think. I can't find much on it.

    Just watched a video today of another TH-camr hitting i think a detergent bottle 400 yards away with this thing, the same guy also punched through one of those little coleman propane tanks for camping went through both sides and that was at 40 yards. This thing is pretty impressive with power

      Figure out the ballistics, and I think will find that is not true.

    Thanks for your videos Rick. Does the GR .25 have a steel breech?

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sure it does. The .22 is just a plastic cover over a metal breech.

    What speed FPS did you get with the 25 grains?

    • @EarthSurferUSA

      I think about 700fps, or a bit more. Probably drops a mill dot every 15 yards.

    Is this rifle supposed to have an automatic safety?
    When I cock my barrel my safety doesn't engage.
    I' love this rifle and i just got it delivered today but I'm concerned about the safty.
    The high cheek stock also makes it impossible for me to shoot with open sights.
    I am forced to use a scope on it
    I wish I could use it with open sights because thats how I've been shooting since I was 8 years old
    Im 30 now

    • @mynameishall8736

      I have it, and no, the safety is not automatic.

    I wish there was a national competition for springer guns where you shoot up to 100 yards and shoot for money, (where we can write everything off as a business expense).
    I would love to take your money all day long. :)

  • @kenfan5666
    @kenfan5666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There is no advantage to buying this in .25 when .22 is more readily available and has more penetration and farther ranges. It's basically the old Gamo Magnum without the Swarm magazine system and in a harder to find caliber.
    Gamo is just trying to get rid of old stock inventory parts due to the plandemic and logistics problems.
    Gamo should just try lowering prices to make sales and forget trying to milk us and overcharging for old parts and sold as new products.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The heavier pellet will have more energy at further ranges. I bet about 5fpe more at 70 yards if pretty equal out of the muzzle. I have done enough measuring to know I am close.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you ever produced anything for sale? (complaining about price) I have a couple manufacturing degrees with decades of experience that goes way beyond a union worker, and know what it takes to make something. They don't grow on trees.

    • @kenfan5666
      @kenfan5666 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EarthSurferUSA It was not my intention to offend you.
      I am not an engineer, though I have experience in working with the Solid Works App for engineering and design. I have never developed any goods that I have sold. Although I did have an unpatented design of a prototype that was stolen before it was mass produced. And the design of the product that went to market was changed only slightly from my design such that the mechanisms worked in a similar fashion.
      The powerplants of both the .22 and the .25 are the same in the original iteration and the only difference are the color of the stock, the lack of a suppressor and magazine of the newer models.
      I am also a 53 year old man who has had nearly thirty five years experience in hunting, pesting, and trapping and have witnessed animals suffer needlessly when not properly dispatched with adequate lethal force.
      I would suggest to you that the "extra" approximately 5 fpe that you may possibly gain with this single shot break barrel platform would not have adequate terminal power on small game if body shots were taken. And if you were to take head shots only, shot placement is of utmost importance and there would be minimal difference in performance of either .22 or .25 because the difference in small game cranial skull thickness is negligible and you would be taking the shot in a closer range where that 5 fpe would not matter. If you were to move to a PCP platform, there would be a relatively little bit more increase than 5 fpe if you were to take a body shot, but then, again, you would more than likely also have the benefit of a magazine for quicker follow up shots.
      If you were to go for more robust medium game such as possum, raccoon, fox, coyote, or ground hogs, I suggest that a .30 or larger caliber would be more appropriate for ethical humane harvesting, thereby giving you more flexibility to hunt larger medium sized game in the future.
      As a consumer, I am also concerned about saving my money and not needlessly spending my hard earned funds on diminishing returns. The increase in fpe between .22 to .25 is negligible in a break barrel platform. With the same money you could probably afford a break barrel airgun from Hatsan or Umarex in .30 which has much more options than .25.
      Lastly, if you did try to take more robust game and body shots, either double lung or heart lung, you would likely have enough fpe for full pass through penetration. Even if you didn't, the fpe dumped would be devastating.
      It's just observation and comparison, common sense and logic, and efficiency in consumer behaviour. I was not attacking you personally. Feel free to spend your money on a single shot break barrel with a green stock, slightly larger caliber, and no suppressor or fast multi shot follow up capability. Feel free to have a harder time finding optimal pellets and slugs in optimal grain weight for hunting. Feel free to spend more and get less.
      No need to get your panties in a bunch.
      Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

    • @kenfan5666
      @kenfan5666 ปีที่แล้ว

      For reference, to anyone who may be interested, Ben Pierson of Shooting Gear Reviews TH-cam channel, has a comparison video between the two Gamo Magnum in both .22 and .25 in which he is only able to penetrate five cans of soda with BOTH platforms and also fully penetrates two similar sized watermelons. The only difference was the wound size/channel.
      So draw your own conclusions.
      Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

    I don't understand why they're wasting their time by not bringing this into the swarm platform. I don't want to step backwards with progression, blistering fingertips dont sound as appealing anymore when popping in a magazine is a far superior alternative. Thanks for the video, nonetheless

    • @justinholoviak5357
      @justinholoviak5357 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you single load the magazine guns? I like the single load in the breech guns. If you don’t need to use the mags I agree. Don’t take me as arguing. I agree with you. I just shoot from a bench most of the time. Like the simplicity.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      Heavy monster pellets pop out half way on my .22 mag. But I am sure one can be engineered to work. Maybe they are working on it.

    • @TheManic.5-OH
      @TheManic.5-OH ปีที่แล้ว

      @EarthSurferUSA I sure hope so! Can you imagine how awesome that would be to have a gamo swarm, in the bone collector wood, with their MAGNUM piston, and its in .25 cal? 🤯🤯🤯

  • @woofman4796

    you can't leave a spring cocked for too long, a gas ram can stay cocked for eternity, no fatigue, gas rams are more consistant on power and velocity, smoother shooting and lasts longer, i was hoping gamo would make this with a gas ram, i'd buy 1 for sure then, but i'm not a fan of springs

    • @markmcintosh7095
      @markmcintosh7095 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like how they shoot also. My three Hatsan rifles all failed in one year. Like the guns but the ram's leaked out in one year.

      @@markmcintosh7095 I have the hatsan carnivore 30 cal. I don't like the trigger, I haven't shot it much, I'll stick with Gamo, I haven't shot my hatsan in almost 3 years, I don't even know if it still shoots?
