I can confirm your statement on the screen size. I also got somewhat sick when testing the C2, sometimes a light headache. The Alienware on the other hand is just perfect for on the desk.
Very similar with my experience of using the AW3423DW and LGC2 .. C2 during the day looks better overall but QD-Oled really is something else at night when there is no ambient lighting .. all the colours look so deep and vivid with QD-OLED
Was your HDR testing with LG C2 using HGIG tone mapping mode or dynamic tone mapping? Dynamic tone mapping artificially brightens darker parts of the image, which could explain why the C2 looked brighter than the Alienware.
Even with HGIG the C2 was brighter for me except for 2% window where my C2 can only get to 700ish nits and the Alienware can hit 1000, for whatever reason at 10% the alienware is like 450 nits while the LG can still hold 700 nits. Couple that with the size difference and the C2 is definitely the brighter one.
Excelent comparison. I feel like since you are a photographer you are better suited with every other flat 32" OLED model that comes this year, don't know what Alienware smoke to put a curved display on a 16:9 monitor. I agree with the productivity comment on your video, using a 42" you can leave scaling to 100% and have windows on the sides. It's remarkable for the LG to be so close since it's 2 years old, I wonder how the 42" C4 would compare.
Unless everyone eyes are different, the color on the LG are way better than the AW when side by side. I have a 42” C4 but I’m debating if I should get the AW here or a 1440p 360hz for fps games.
Comparing colors through a TH-cam video is useless as it is not representative of actual colors. QDOLED has slightly better colors than WOLED (LG) and the out of the box calibration of this particular Alienware monitor is excellent whereas the LG needs calibration. Both are still great since they're both OLED. In your case I would get this Alienware. 240hz on it if you can reach it is amazing. Plus it's smaller so better for competitive fps.
As the owner of a Samsung S95B QD-OLED TV, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my Alienware 32 4K QD-OLED monitor next week. Want to see what improvements a gen 3 QD-OLED panel has.
It’s fantastic imo. coming from owner of LG 40inch OLED tv (a few years old) and decent 4K HDR 144Hz IPS panel (against which the Alienware wins by a country mile in every category)
@@AA-vs9khI know this months old but I literally have a 65 inch lg c1 and a 1440p omen 144/165 hz monitor. I’m on a series x now with plans to either move to a ps5 pro or a 4070ti super. Figured I could purchase the monitor first and make my experience now better before I upgrade. I currently game at 1440p. My only dilemma is if I go pc id probably just get a 1440p oled monitor. If going the pro route the Alienware really looks nice. I don’t know how a 1440 image would look on a 4k panel though and I know the 4070 targets 1440 high frames. I mostly play COD but have been going back to story games more often as I’m getting older and don’t have the attention span for cod as much. I’m assuming I could get used to fps games at 32 inches though it’s been years
I tried the brighter C3 and the Alienware. I returned the C3. In comparison, the colors looked dull on the C3 and the gray/shadow details were totally lacking; whites were exaggerated/unnatural as well. On the Alienware monitor everything just pops; details in color gradations are very apparent; a more balanced look. I mean just look at the video @ 7:04, 8:29, 8:54, 8:59; and that's with TH-cam compression. In person the difference is even more noticeable.
Yes, because color mapping on CX series is bad. Really bad. Also I had a asus monitor and the same. The colors on the Alienware are just way better that ANY other monitor out right now.
I did the same thing with the c3 the 32 is a lot more comfortable IMO visually both are amazing I do prefer the glossier look on the c3 but its close enough it wasn't a factor.
I still prefer the LG because of its smart TV functionality. I can go from gaming to hooking up my jailbroken 4k firestick to watch my favorite shows without a hitch. You can't do that on a computer monitor without doing a lot of extra shit to make it possible
Why the hell isn't the glossy of the C2 the default option in oled monitors, how can anyone not see it as objectively better especially as how much they struggle with balancing brightness and burn in risk.
@@dolan_plz yea thats why i was asking. i have the c3 and i calibrated it to tftchannels guide getting it as close to 6500k as possible and it doesnt look anything like what was shown in the video. not sure if that c2 was calibrated correctly or not.
Yes, it glows pink/purple/magenta even when the display is off. Horrible. QD OLEDs are dark-room only mastering monitors, not daytime. And that purple glow definitely does impact your perception of colour even when the scene is bright. There is NO WAY that is calibrated to a D65 white point if you measure it full-screen and keep the calibration meter pulled back away from the monitor so it doesn't block ambient light in the immediate vicinity of where the sensor is calibrating. The only way a QD OLED's calibration is even remotely possible to be valid is when the lights are completely off.
@@sindev3320 i think so, im too researching this, because woled has less color volume but better blacks but qd-oled ends the point of having n oled of the black arent going to be infinite black
@@sindev3320 I wouldn't say never, but that would need a complete overhaul of how QD-Oled is assembled and works. There is no easy fix, unless that come with a break throw, I estimated the solution is at least more than decade away.
Its a very informative and good comparison between the mainstream small OLED TV and current best 4k OLED monitor in market. In HDR performance, I believe there's not too much real life difference in terms of HDR brightness unless you are rich enough to buy different OLED displays and compare them side to side. A little correction from the video @Johny McPro mentioned. First, for LG TV, you can never turn off ABL, what he turned off is actually ASBL, which is dim down when static display detected. Its annoying ASBL cant detect when you typing and it dim down. ABL is depends on overall window percentage in high brightness, the large bright window, the lower highest brightness. The ABL for any OLED TVs are pretty aggressive that its to reserve the shelf life of OLED to prevent burn-in. The OLED monitors, since smaller screen size, the ABL is quite less aggressive than TV (technically) Second, about the peak brightness like this Alienware QD-OLED advertised. Its completely a marketing BS because its need a very very tiny high brightness window size to achieve. Fun facts, regardless WOLED or QD-OLED, 10% and above white windows (in testing) are only 500-600 nits. You rarely has any HDR gaming or movie scenes that can dive below 5% bright windows. For reason why LG C2 42 is generally "brighter" than Alienware 32 is because the larger bright windows for LG is actually do better than Alienware. It is also due to pixel density. For 32 inch 4k is much denser pixels than 42 inch 4k, a smaller self-lit pixel tend to has lower overall brightness compare to large one. Just simply go to RTings compare the C2/C3 in different sizes, you can see that the larger TV do has higher peak brightness. When you choosing between WOLED and QD-OLED, no.1 factor definitely your room condition. If your use case more on day time and pretty bright environment, better choose WOLED. If you purely on gaming at night, in a darker room, then go for QD-OED. For my case, my desk is right beside windows, QD-OLED raised black issue is really huge deal breaker for me. So I rather choose WOLED.
I have the c2 65” and now the AW3225qf too and I agree, the c2 overall brightness is higher than the AW but the the peak 1000 highlights on the AW are much higher than the c2. Despite the AW also being glossy I do think the finish on the c2 is is slightly better and more crisp. I think this may be because the AW is a “semi-gloss” vs a true gloss like the c2. Both screens are beautiful though that’s for sure.
@jlb4685 I've got the C2 and want the AW but I have plenty of space and only really play single player story stuff with a controller so seems kinda pointless??? Pc 4090 5800x3d
@@MrDogtown22 Yeah based of that I’d say just stick with the C2. Sure you could blow past 120hz on that 4090 but on a controller 120hz is perfectly enough as is. Maybe wait for new OLED models coming next year and weigh up any improvements they could bring as a worthy upgrade vs the C2.
5:55 Btw it's not just the matte coating that is raising the black level, qd oled inherently has worse black levels due to ambient light activating the quantum dot layer. It's a draw back of the technology.
@@DonDOOM4 Even without direct light hitting the monitor, in a well lit room the QD-OLED's black levels are gone in this environment, it looks even worse than an IPS monitor.
I use the following with good results: - Dolby Vision (monitor) off - HDR (monitor) on, and set to TrueBlack 400 - HDR (windows) on There is also software on Dells website that installs the colour profiles for display settings. So in my display settings on windows the profile mirrors what is set in the display (TrueBlack 400). Hope that helps.
Awesome comparison. Each screen does shine in some instances over the other. When you had the side by side comparison it looked like the C2 had much better blacks. Very inky very nice while the AW looked a little greyish next to C2. But the colours in Halo Infinite looked better on the AW vs the C2. Not sure if it was the timing of when you took the shots but the C2 also looked like it handled glares/reflections worse than the AW. I don't play a lot of competitive games so the 240hz isn't a big deal for me, id rather better picture quality as the type of games I play cap out at sub 100 fps anyways at 4K and maxed out settings, even on my 4090 rig. But that desk real estate is daunting to go with a 42" screen.
For some people its impossible to realize to not shine a studio lights directly at qd oled panels to avoid raising blacks. Its the technology that bounces light back.
I love my Alienware I know a lot of people are talking about They had some issues but it’s luck of the draw. I’ve had zero issues and zero complaints. I can never go with the LG C2 for one. It’s too damn big and for two it really puts a neuter on my RTX 4090 as far as how high my frame rate can go in competitive games.
I have had the c2 for 2 years now and the first month I had It I hated it , colors were washed out and blacks were all raised. Soon as I put my color space to limited on the TV it made everything better , some black crush but much better , not sure why but running Full color space on PC/console and TV messed up the picture
@@Dx-so7jm Another thing you want to adjust is Black Stabiliser in Game Mode settings. Dark HDR movies looks much better to me with more shadow revealing at level13. WOLED has innately some black crush, so the dark nuances needs to be raised. Black will still be black.
Wow, look at the blueberries @14:24 , they actually look BLUE on the C2, and the blacks levels look much deeper and actually black on the WOLED panel. Thanks for comparing them side by side, and great review.
The first thought on the “gray” blueberries is the calibration is way off because my monitor (Aw3225qf) doesn’t do that… it can be adjusted via the custom menu…
@@TheUnrider it’s not just from this video, many of the reviews I’ve read state that QD-OLED do not have as deep blacks compared to WOLED. Of course it’s still going to be better than VA or IPS, and will get brighter than WOLED.
Well technically the Alienware blueberries looked more like blue berries you'd see in real life at the supermarket. Blue berries aren't no where near as vibrantly blue as the LG was showing. You might prefer the way the LG showed it, but the Alienware definitely looks more real and close to what an actual blue berry appears.
@@AverageJoeGlobeR I was just saying that the colors looked more vibrant than the Alienware, I didn't say that it was representing exactly how a blueberry looked in real life lol. Also, the OP stated that the color setting was left on standard (not the over-washed settings of vivid or "dynamic") and not calibrated, so for those settings I think the LG was impressive. Many reviews on reddit and forums have stated that QD-OLED, while brighter, don't have as deep as blacks. I've only seen the TVs in person but not this specific Alienware monitor, placing them side by side in person would be interesting.
Very informative video thank you. Have you noticed the Alienware having a more washed out look at that hdr 1000? Is the contrast different between the two? I like brights but not at the expense of loosing my darks. Thank you
It definitely does. But Dolby Vision support for windows is dodgy so I’ve turned it off. It’s supposed to work perfect from consoles / Apple TV etc but I’ve not tested it myself
Great review and info. The AW screen looks more grey in some backgrounds. I have the OLED42 and its amazing. Cant wait for 42in 240htz. Although I sit back to 3 ft with may racing rig. The 32 AW is still impressive.
11:50 Do you actually work with a d65 white point? When I turn that on for either my macbook pro or my lg c3 I am shocked with how yellow it looks, and I turn it off because my phone and everyone elses display is not that yellow, meaning if I make my colours one way, they will look another way on everyone elses screen. IDK how to get over this mentally. How comes it is harder to calibrate the c2 for you? Isn't it just a case of using a colorimeter on both?
Yes. I have my two Apple Studio displays perfectly calibrated to D65 and their native calibrated white points. D65 is standard for digital work in P3 and is a neutral whitepoint equivalent to noon daylight. D50 and D55 are warmer and more for traditional print design.
@@JohnnyMcPro So when you go to post a photo to instagram, you finish editing it on your computer, air drop it to your iphone, and then it instantly looks different? Seeing as nobody viewing our content is calibrated to d65? Or am I missing something.
@@definingslawek4731 On the Mac, it's seamless and beautiful. All Apple devices are calibrated to P3 so you don't have to worry about it. Most people are viewing content in P3 color / D65 these days, they just don't know it. You can then take it a step further and get a good calibration tool to get your delta E even lower.
@@JohnnyMcPro I find this stuff so confusing and frustrating. I don't know if apple comes stock at d65, when I enable reference mode on my m3 pro and hit d65 it becomes a bit yellower than it was stock. Also what really confuses me is if I go to filmmaker mode with the stock d65 white point on my LG C3, it looks WAY yellower than the macbook d65, it looks like the mexico filter. Which is interesting considering you said you were fighting with it being too blue. I ended up going filmmaker mode but with the white point manually set by eye to roughly match my macbook. Will getting a colour calibration tool help me with this? Also which display profile did you have the LG c2 on in your macbook when you were using it? I switched from the stock profile to 'display p3' as to my eye it matches the macbook much closer. And on the qd oled alienware, do you use the stock profile?
That Dolby Vision bug is actually a problem with Windows poor implementation of Dolby Vision support. That said, a recent firmware for the Alienware display has added an option in the OSD to turn on/off Dolby Vision thus making it a non-issue now.
For video work on a macbook pro - would you prefer to use either of these two monitors, or the studio display? You get OLED with these two, but do you find the studio display more closely matches what audiences are looking at on TH-cam? If money wasn't an issue either way, which would you go with, studio display or the Alienware/C2?
The interesting fact is, the Alienware is more color accurate than the Apple Studio Display (after calibration). Based on this, I would choose the Alienware for color critical work versus the Apple Studio Display. The Studio Display is no slouch though, and is probably more reliable overall if you’re in the Mac ecosystem.
Are both LG and AW3225QF calibrated to a D 65 color temperature ? If you have CALMAN, you should be able to calibrate the LG automatically. It seems like the LG has a cooler color temperatur. If you choose Cinema mode on LGC2, you should be at D65. Also, when you are shooting the comparison, which HDR mode are you on for both devices? if you are playing Dolby Vision content then you have to make sure that both units are calibrated at the D65 in Dolby Vision Cinema mode or Dolby Vision Dark. The alienware red color seems to be orange. It doesn’t really hit the P3 color however looks a lot deeper red and it appears to be more accurate than the Alienware. Do you have DEITP or DE2K?
I also have a 42 inch c2 and got the asus pg32ucdm. When in HDR mode it locks out the settings. Im not a fan of the warmer colour temp, everything has a yello tinge to it. I prefer a cooler look but cant change that. I take it its the same on this monitor too
When you have them side by side, it seems like the LG is darker with the blacks, or richer in color. Where the alienware appears a little washed out, maybe its matt finish.
In this video, when they were side-by-side, HDR was not enabled, so content like that video appears more washed out. It actual use with HDR enabled, the Alienware has amazing black levels and rich color.

I had to return mine because of the dolby vision bug. It would not disable even when I turned off HDR. The Alienware was absolutely amazing though and I plan to buy it again when it is fixed, but for now I just returned it.
I bought mine recently. there’s a toggle in the firmware to turn it off and I have done that, as windows gets funny with it on. Works fine after that. Brilliant display for me in mixed use for productivity, games, and vids. Hope that helps.
Trying to make this decision but i dont have them side by side. The lg c2 that i have is brighter though not because is a larger display but because its brighter in 10% 25% etc window sizes than the alienware. Alieware and all new qd oled monitors do 1000 nits for 2%. Sizes after that take a nosedive with 10% being at 450. I would like to try a new qd oled for the 240Hz since i have a 4090 but am worried i will regret it due to the brightness difference…any opinions? Thanks
I’m doing something similar choosing betweenAlienware and my Samsung 90c. One note about HDR 1000. It does get brighter but at the expense of the rest of the image being darker. If you use true hdr 400 highlights are dimmer but you get better overall brightness.
I really don't care about gaming cause my pc laptop is a 4070 and I'm also on a macbook pro so it this the monitor to use for both? because you said it had good color accuracy?im currently looking for a monitor for both
Red Dead has a broken HDR. You are actually gonna get a better picture in SDR. You were probably in SDR without knowing. The pixel aperture on larger displays is naturally gonna appear brighter. That's why I'm leery of moving down from my 48" LG CX OLED
I double-checked. It had HDR enabled and was working perfectly fine on both displays. It's just the more aggressive ABL on the Alienware that would throw me off as it would dim the bight snowy scenes.
@JohnnyMcPro I'm in Red Dead right now. You can have HDR enabled on windows, but when you check your displays output there will be no HDR signal. The ABL on these new, smaller displays can't reach the window size nit of a TV display. 25 to 50 percent. That's where it matters. Not the peek.
How is the pink tint on the lg oled? I read that every evo panel has this coating that gives reddish hue to the image. Alot of images and stories online.
ive had quite few issues with mine, hope the FW comes soon. i got about 1 week left to return it. but it seems based on early reivews, Asus was not able to squeeze out any extra performance out of their model. so must be panel limitation and Asus also wont even have DV ready at launch, which could be a sign its not Dells fault either?
32 inches is more than substantial when sitting close, also bear in mind its a curved monitor so it feels more natural to peripheral vision, easy to get lost in when playing games
LG C4 - Larger screen - Brighter HDR - Darker blacks - TV and apps - Built-in speakers - Better for movies - Trumotion for movies/sports AW3225QF - 240Hz - Better PPI - Curved display - Ideal size for desk - $350 less vs C4 (in my region)
Really reminds me of my IPS to VA comparison. Difference is obvious. QD is technically obviously better - more realisitic colors. WOLED is like addin white color or to everything. Unfortunately i havent seen 38-42" QD Oled and >1440p. But C2 still OK and immersive .
It goes yellow after 4 hours of use, indicating that the next time it turns off or goes into standby, it will perform pixel refresh. Then it will be green again.
Bro what 😂 yellow panel health means it's been on for 4 hours and needs a pixel refresh. People really be spending $1200 for a monitor and are clueless to how it even works 😂
iam currently rocking a LG C2 42" as my main with the Alienware AW3423DW as a side monitor (long story as to how I came to have this setup) and I have noticed the blue tint to the LG C2 and I have yet to be able to correct it, having the 34" QDOLED next to it really make it stand out more as I have the 34" set to DCI-P3 and the colors are magical and it does suck i cant get the LG to match. Is there a certain setting that can help or do I need a service remote and a calibration tool to improve the colors of the LG C2?
It works great for that - just make sure you have your task bar or dock auto-hide. Make sure your desktop background is set to change every few minutes. Move your app windows around every few minutes. Once you get in the habit of that, plus letting the pixel refresh do it's thing - you'll never have burn-in issues.
Great video. I also have both of these. I love the AW3225QF but I am having to return mine, the RGB on back doesn’t come on and work and I keep getting this thermal warning on mine when gaming. But I love the color compared to the C2 and the 240 hz motion. After having and using both its hard to stomach that after taxes and shipping the AW is $1300 compared to the $800 I got my C2 on sale for at BB. But I think I might try try the 360 hz version as I play mostly FPS titles with 4090.
@@zacdavis7 Coming from a 240hz OLED, think so. Most noticeable is input lag, a bit less blur. Less screen to deal w/ when playing FPS. Still looks incredible.
Bottom of the settings menu is an option to change the HDR to HDR1000 or HDRTrueBlack400 or if Dolby is on (like it is on my computer) you can change it to Bright, Dark, or Game. Shutting off HDR you can adjust the brightness and contrast levels

I wish they'd make a 42 inch 4k 240hz with MLA! I was considering returning my LG C3 and getting one of the new finally good oled pc monitors but I have decided that 27 inch and even 32 inch is actually too small for me. 42 inch is amazing. What's a shame is the LG C4 will not be getting the new sub pixel arrangement and no 240hz and no MLA unlike the 27inch and 32inch desktop monitor panels from LG this year. So they put MLA on small panels, and on the huge tv's,, but the 42 inch won't get it :(

Nice video! Im currently using the 42" C3, And am currently contemplating about going to the new MSI 4k monitor that was just released. Since your Alienware and the MSI are using the same screen and tech, My real worry and question is. Do you notice DSC at all on the alienware? And what did you use for a cable to hook it up? HDMI 2.1? Or DP 1.4?
I have this Alienware (and ordered the MSI as I don't like the curve) and can say the DSC is not noticeable at all (using Displayport 1.4 cable). The autodimming is very noticeable though and quite annoying in games that fade to white or have large white areas (I haven't tried Red Dead 2 but I can imagine it being terrible in that).
@@PlayingKarrde Just to be clear, You notice alot of Auto dimming on the Monitor? Or the TV? Cause Ive now had my C3 for a week, And I am noticing the auto dimmer like crazy and its really annoying. Thanks for the comparison video! Do you still miss the immersion of the C2 or did you get used to the smaller monitor? I'm using a 43" QN90C and I'm concerned that I will miss the size if I get the AW3225QF.
I own both and I definitely prefer the 32 inch oled by AW. Just a beautiful display and I am patient enough to wait on any firmware updates to address dolby vision issues.
No need for calibration for Alienware AW3225QF at all. It got the highest pre-calibration score from RTINGS that is 9.7 and same score on post-calibration so basically calibrating it doesn't do much and only Panasonic W95A beats that score by 9.8 on post calibration.
qdoled is too warm, not sure why people dont ever point that out? I checked with my ceiling light 6500k and the color temps of the qdoled is 10% hotter.
These QD OLEDs are just too dark. I have the PG32UCDM and bright highlights are amazing but in order for those highlights to burn so bright, the rest of the image is dark. Playing RE Village is soooo dark on the OLED. On my pG27UQ it looks perfect.
240hz is amazing but qdoled black levels are allegedly significantly worse than woled in moderately - well lit rooms. I even saw a video that was measuring 'percieved black level' on various panel technologies and the conclusion was that qd-oled had significantly worse black levels than NON OLED panels (tn/ lcd) at a certain point of room illumination (there's a threshold))
@@JohnnyMcPro 'No way' as in you aren't satisifed with the black level with lots of light in the room? Or is it blacker again in a very bright room and this effect of raised black levels is just in a dimly lit but not pitch black room?
The ABL is broken on the Alienware at Peak 1000. Where there is more white on the screen it gets dimmer than the True Black. However in dark games and videos Peak 1000 has amazing highlights.
Why is nobody talking about the poor white uniformity of the LG C2? In a white screen scenario you will see a pink tint in the centre of the screen, and a green tint in the corners

In person the difference is even more noticeable.
the only problem in QD-OLED is the black levels... don't seem like black, it's like a magento.
You can watch without issues any HDR movie even with dolby vision on PC. Media player classic + madVR HDR ON and it will auto map HDR content.
I feel like putting a matte coating on an OLED is a sin, especially so on qd oled given the much higher black level it has compared to woled.
I dont understand how ppl can tolerate 42" at 70 cms distance, it is waaaay to huge
That's what she said!
I won't go back, even a 32p screen seems too small to me now.
I'd totally tolerate it, but the pixel density is too low for me.
That's what she said. 😏
I did that on a 48" 😂
Why the hell isn't the glossy of the C2 the default option in oled monitors, how can anyone not see it as objectively better especially as how much they struggle with balancing brightness and burn in risk.
Thanks for the video. It was helpful
did you have a "cool" profile on the c2 in the footage? it looks like the aw has a warm profile and the lg has a cool one on.
Yeah, I have C2 set to Warm 50 and it's almost perfect. It doesn't look like the example in this video.
@@dolan_plz yea thats why i was asking. i have the c3 and i calibrated it to tftchannels guide getting it as close to 6500k as possible and it doesnt look anything like what was shown in the video. not sure if that c2 was calibrated correctly or not.
Yea, you have to raise the warmth - Warm 50 or 30 depending on your taste.
The raised black levels on the Alienware is caused by a lack of a polarizer when high ambient light is shown on it.
It's not, it's because the quantum dot is on the external side of the panel, they absorb light and glow, like a fluorescent vest.
@@mrxcs so qd oled will never be as black as woled ?
The OLED monitors, since smaller screen size, the ABL is quite less aggressive than TV (technically)
Second, about the peak brightness like this Alienware QD-OLED advertised.
Great points.
Which one do you find yourself using more?
@@MrDogtown22 I use both depending on what I’m playing. C2 for controller games and the monitor/desk for shooters using a mouse/keyboard.
@jlb4685 lg dis such a good job with the C2. Have you ever tried 1440p on you C2? Still looks amazing
5:55 Btw it's not just the matte coating that is raising the black level, qd oled inherently has worse black levels due to ambient light activating the quantum dot layer. It's a draw back of the technology.
Hence the need to control the light in the room. Make sure there's no direct light in front of the display and you're good.
@@DonDOOM4 Even without direct light hitting the monitor, in a well lit room the QD-OLED's black levels are gone in this environment, it looks even worse than an IPS monitor.
@@4epa1012 A well lit / bright room =/= light controlled room. An overhead light, window to the side etc are all still direct light hitting the panel.
@@DonDOOM4 There is huge difference between direct sunlight and reflected sunlight... Jfyi
@@4epa1012 Right, and I made a distinction between the two.
What were your settings using the Alienware monitor, in Windows and on the Monitor itself?
I use the following with good results:
- Dolby Vision (monitor) off
- HDR (monitor) on, and set to TrueBlack 400
- HDR (windows) on
There is also software on Dells website that installs the colour profiles for display settings. So in my display settings on windows the profile mirrors what is set in the display (TrueBlack 400). Hope that helps.
I've got the same combo and lg c2 is noticeably sharper and clearer. Made me regret buying the monitor and I plugged the LG C2 back in.
Uh, what? They are both 4K, and C2 is arguably better for different resolutions too, since you can do ultra wide and super ultra wide natively.
I have had the c2 for 2 years now and the first month I had It I hated it , colors were washed out and blacks were all raised.
Soon as I put my color space to limited on the TV it made everything better , some black crush but much better , not sure why but running Full color space on PC/console and TV messed up the picture
@@Dx-so7jm Looks like you had the wrong black levels. Anyway, you should also only use HDR on PC, seeing as SDR looks bad and is dark.
@@Deffine nah , I played with all settings for a month before I just mismatched color settings , had no choice
@@Dx-so7jm Another thing you want to adjust is Black Stabiliser in Game Mode settings. Dark HDR movies looks much better to me with more shadow revealing at level13. WOLED has innately some black crush, so the dark nuances needs to be raised. Black will still be black.
can you run the LG in ultrawide resolution and make a picture side by side ? i run my oled always in ultrawide, when sitting infront on the desk
Wow, look at the blueberries @14:24 , they actually look BLUE on the C2, and the blacks levels look much deeper and actually black on the WOLED panel. Thanks for comparing them side by side, and great review.
its not as black on the alienware because of the background light in the room
Loving the Alienware vs the C2. It’s so sharp and punchy. Hardest part is finding the color settings that you prefer.
The C2 is solid. It does take more work to calibrate - but for a no-fuss experience, it's just works great.
Very informative video thank you. Have you noticed the Alienware having a more washed out look at that hdr 1000? Is the contrast different between the two? I like brights but not at the expense of loosing my darks. Thank you
Can i watch dolby vision movies on the Alienware? Does it support dolby vision?
It definitely does. But Dolby Vision support for windows is dodgy so I’ve turned it off. It’s supposed to work perfect from consoles / Apple TV etc but I’ve not tested it myself
Yes. Keep it off for Windows. Consoles and streaming devices turn on DV.
man i'm tempted to get the lg c3 because it's more burn-in ressiliant and has a polarizer.
Great review and info. The AW screen looks more grey in some backgrounds. I have the OLED42 and its amazing. Cant wait for 42in 240htz. Although I sit back to 3 ft with may racing rig. The 32 AW is still impressive.
The AW Dolby Vison should shut off once you are past 60htz.
For me, when I did the windows calibration and forced 1000 with the DV bug it seemed to overwrite the low peak with DV
'The Alienware looks more smooth'. Uncapped frame rates or 120fps? That's an important differentiation for console gamers.
Fantastic! C4 on the way! I love the colors on LG!
Do you have DEITP or DE2K?
loved your narration, man. a pleasure to watch. ty
Much appreciated!
I also have a 42 inch c2 and got the asus pg32ucdm. When in HDR mode it locks out the settings. Im not a fan of the warmer colour temp, everything has a yello tinge to it. I prefer a cooler look but cant change that. I take it its the same on this monitor too
does anyone know if the abl can be tuned off? that shits a dealbreaker.
You can't unfortunately, but it actually grew on me. I didn't see it as annoying at first now.
Since the camera makes the blacks worse on the Alienware, do the blacks in reality look almost good as the 42-inch LG?

Cant wait for my Alienware to arrive!
PC monitor vs a TV / monitor, how do you decide if you're primarily going to use it for entertainment, workflow productivity, or a combination?
When you have them side by side, it seems like the LG is darker with the blacks, or richer in color. Where the alienware appears a little washed out, maybe its matt finish.
its also stated in another review that alienware monitor need a little bit calibrations, but they working on it for the upcoming firmware update

You didn’t speak about the curve in the AW much. Did you feel it had any pros or cons as far as gaming goes?
I wish it was flat honestly. You get used to the curve and it does have it's benefits - but is actually doesn't need to be curved in my opinion.
Do you think the 32 inch Alienware is immersive enough (sitting close) or the 42 inch C2 is better by a lot in this case?
32 inches is more than substantial when sitting close, also bear in mind its a curved monitor so it feels more natural to peripheral vision, easy to get lost in when playing games

My problem with the AW is it’s already yellow panel life and have only played on it a couple of hours since hooking it up on Saturday (1/27)

Did you go into the colors setting in hdr and set it to 55 warm? Lg always comes in cool profiles out of the box.
If I use the Alienware mostly for work and office, just sometimes viewing Videos, would it have issues with Burn-In?
It works great for that - just make sure you have your task bar or dock auto-hide. Make sure your desktop background is set to change every few minutes. Move your app windows around every few minutes. Once you get in the habit of that, plus letting the pixel refresh do it's thing - you'll never have burn-in issues.
Plus keep brightness low if you can. Easy to do with the app called Flux
Need a deeper desk for the lg, and minitor arm.

And I hate that its a tv and doesnt wake up when i wake up my PC I have to use remote and turn it on.
Thanks for the comparison video! Do you still miss the immersion of the C2 or did you get used to the smaller monitor? I'm using a 43" QN90C and I'm concerned that I will miss the size if I get the AW3225QF.
Great video. Could you post your monitor settings? I know you said you use HDR 1000, what about the other settings.
I own both and I definitely prefer the 32 inch oled by AW. Just a beautiful display and I am patient enough to wait on any firmware updates to address dolby vision issues.
do you think the qd-oled blacks are a deal breaker? and almost feel like its a ips display?
On my pG27UQ it looks perfect.
thanks bro you can do the same fro other 4k Oled monitor that be release in 2024?
32 is too small, specially after using my 42 inch for immersion which i prio.
Yea - it really depends on how much light you have around you. In my bright sunroom during the summer - no way. In my dark studio, heck yea.
I Just got the c3 and im loving it but i just wanted to see this before my return time is up lol
And what did you decide?
What monitor did you keep?
