I love how clear you are. You don't waste any time. Big thanks. My question is, can this recipe be used with cinnamon rolls, frozen with butter, cinnamon, rolled up and frozen in that state? I'm certain you know the answer. Thanks so much!!!
Lol!! I wanted to freeze this dough, but wasn’t sure I could. So I baked them, then… lol, looked further, to find I could have frozen them!!😂 Know I know, so I will make these tomorrow, dbl batch, and freeze em!! Trying to get ahead for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Note to others! As your teachers said-I’m a retired one!-read the whole “test-recipe” before cooking!! It’s ok, who doesn’t like rolls??
There are so many great tips in this video! Using half whole wheat, making my own freezer rolls and how to slow rise them and filling up cleaning water before I start. Love it! Keep these ideas coming.
So...I’ve been going all COVID Bread on my family. My starter is healthy and thriving. I have frozen my excess and often use that to make dough, though it likes to have a couple days to get fully active. It is amazing that your frozen dough, fully prepared, rises beautifully. Mine has not, though I see why...I need to start sooner! Doh! I’m such a dork! Your video is fantastic. thank you!
Thank you!! Perfect timing with Thanksgiving right around the corner. I always like to bake the rolls Thanksgiving day so they are the very freshest and best. By making them ahead and freezing it will be one less task on a busy day. Always enjoy your videos.
I have made many breads and the last 18 months- sourdough, weekly. Mostly wanted to know how to freeze rolls. Made 1/2 the recipe and froze all the rolls. Haven’t baked them but can tell since the dough was so luxurious and easy to work with they will be great. Thinking using for Monkey Bread or use it fresh to make cinnamon rolls. Substituted butter for the oil.
This was a great video! Just one question. When you were mixing them with the mixer, you said to mix them 10 to 12 minutes because you don’t have time for a second rise. I’m not sure I understood that?
Me @ 2 minutes: "Ok, you have my attention. I'm with you." Me @ 3.5 minutes: "Yeah. This lady knows." Me @ 5.75 minutes: "Did we just become best friends?!" Then I hear the 3 hour thaw/rise time to use them, and suddenly I'm writing Sister Schubert's on my grocery list again. This is great for people who think ahead just a little though. Unfortunately, we don't tend to do that, so I'm off to find a way to make something I can pull from the freezer and heat up in 20 or 30 minutes. THIS is when I envy stay at home wives, and their families the most.
If I’m having thanksgiving dinner at 1:30 should I take the frozen rolls out about 9 am that morning or can I put them in fridge the night before? Thanks
I just bumped into this video & I'm so glad I did. What kind of oil did you use? Can softrned butter, avocado or olive oil be used instead of veggie oil (if that's what was used)? Thanks for the wonderful tips. BTW, loved your little helper ;--) Be well.
I dun have a stand mixer ... but all I bake is breads ... so I have a cheap breadmaker and a dough cycle which works fine. The yeast doesn't actually use the sugar the water alone is what is activating the yeast.. they eat flour... not really sugar. :)
Is it possible for you to do a video on how to make sub buns - I know how to do your hamburger buns but I tried to make sub or hot dogs and they came out too thin Also - I am having issues with the dough when mixing coming too far up and sometimes gets into the gear thing at the top - help I am doubling the recipe - I make it at least once a week Thanks in advance - Love love love this recipe.
Butter! Of course :^) Do you still use the Bosch mixer, or have you switched to the KitchenAid? My arthritis is making it very difficult to knead dough, and was thinking about the Bosch you had years ago last night while making bread.
@@OutsmartDinner Thank you SO much. Just got done hand kneading pizza dough for tonight and my arms feel like they'll fall off :) Definitely will get one and start freezing batches just like you showed. So excited about the new videos !
Wait! You didn't proof the dough at all? You just shaped the dough into rolls and put them straight into the oven????? I have never seen that before ???!!!😲😲😲 I wonder how soft those rolls are on the inside? It takes me hours to make dinner rolls: mixing the ingredients, kneading, 1st rise & shaping the doughs to rolls then the 2nd rise I mean if I can skip those 2 risings I can save a TON of time.
I've made twice now and I did just as she did. I took them out of the freezer 80-10 hours in advance to unthaw and rise. They were fabulous!!! It works!! @@char_lene_
I just came here to find out how to freeze my homemade dough and the first thing I see in your opening montage is how you hate cooking "making dinner is the worst" haha, yikes, thanks for the warning I guess, I'll go watch a different video made by someone that enjoys cooking. What an odd way to open a cooking video...
Let me correct. You said that batch of rolls compared to supermarket, yours cost $1 and supermarket cost $3. And change. It cost money to keep the frozen. Okay it's cost to heat that big oven twice or maybe more time to cook all of them. Then the freezer bag you have to buy. So please don't tell your viewers that can make them for $1 compared to supermarket prices. You're giving untrue imformation.bwhen grocery ses the they have to do food cost. And part of the food cost is how much the ingredients cost. Labor for making the rolls. Paying workers Comp. The electricity or gas that cooks them. The container that they house them in for sale. So when you compare prices again plz plz give the correct Information. When you buy thi gs in a supermarket there's alot that goes I to the pricing details. You make it seem like they over charge you. If you had a bakery would or could you sell that batch of rolls for $1. Please Ponder about what I have talked about.

Yes! Exactly! Totally agree with you.
Thank you for making this fine tutorial on freezing dinner rolls!
Wow, looks good! Thanks for sharing, friend. Let's stay connected.
Excellent. Super useful for me!
Well done little chef on the side 😂❤️
Perfect timing. So glad for this idea just before Thanksgiving.
You're so welcome!

Awesomeness! Most excellent advice I have seen on this matter. On a level all your own without a doubt
Butter and jelly-yum! Going to try this recipe soon.
YEAH! I'm totally with you on the butter and jelly!

Do you use egg wash when you bake them?
Butter!

You can use any oil, but the taste varies. The most flavorful is butter.
I dun have a stand mixer ... but all I bake is breads ... so I have a cheap breadmaker and a dough cycle which works fine. The yeast doesn't actually use the sugar the water alone is what is activating the yeast.. they eat flour... not really sugar. :)
Correct. Sugar delays the fermentation and salt doesn't affect the yeast, as explained in videos by ChainBaker and Bake with Jack

My arthritis is making it very difficult to knead dough, and was thinking about the Bosch you had years ago last night while making bread.
Oh, yes to the Bosch! Especially if I'm doing more than double the recipe...which I'm apt to do!

Butter.
Recipe in discription plz
I don't have a stand mixer. I'm a bachelor and it's not really worth while to buy one just for me.
Get a bread machine and use the dough cycle 👍🏻

meant 8-10 hours before to unthaw
