    It was funny to listen to you at 530 regarding my loyalty. Last year my employer was willing to fire those of us that refused to take the shots. They pretty much told us we were expendable. They backed off in Dec-Jan after the governor of Florida weighed in on the legality of the mandate.

    Unless you are in a high executive role, 1-2 layers below CEO of a company with 10k+ employees, counter offer rarely make sense.

      Thanks for your comments on this topic. It's not an easy decision as there are so many factors to consider. I always recommend making a pros and cons list for both employers. Sometimes it is easier to see the right path when it is written down.

      Thanks for the comment. This is often the case when an employee accepts the counter offer and the only thing in their employment that has changed is their salary. There was a reason they were looking for another employment opportunity and it was probably more than simply money.

    Great video man ! I was in this situation about year ago! I tossed and turned of my decision and ultimately, I decide to stay with my current organization because they fought for me to stay and did almost everything they could to keep me.

      I'm so glad you found it helpful. There are so many videos recommending that you never accept a counteroffer. It's not a black and white decision. You have to weigh the pros and cons and ultimately do what is right for you. I'm glad it worked out for you. 😀

    Oh man , I was approached by a big company , got interviewed then we negotiated money , I got an offer with benefits exact amounts etc. I accepted, and get told cool so and so will be in touch, at this point I'm under the impression that I'm at the end of the whole recruitment process , so I go tell my boss hey I'm leaving soon. The prospective employer comes back asking for xyz info and wants to arrange another interview (so at this point I feel like I've jumped the gun), and each correspondence in writing is just catching me off-guard at this point, but during discussions over the phone Im assured the deal is locked-in and that this is just apart of their process. My current employer counters immediately, feeling exposed I accept the counter, and I let the prospective employer know hey I'm no longer available. They also come back with counter offer. But at this point I have accepted the counter from my current employer and I have no idea at what stage of the recruitment process I'm in. I know I want to leave but it just feels slippery at this point.

      Wow. This is a very challenging situation. My advice go with the company that is the right fit for you in terms of job, company, work/life balance etc. You have to be happy with your decision at the end of the day. That said, nothing is binding with job offers unless it is in writing. So make sure that whatever position you accept has given you an offer in writing first. No written offer then it is not a solid job contract. Good luck with your decision.

      You messed up by jumping the gun. Next time wait till you officially sign on with the new company.

    I just started a new position 3 weeks ago and received another job offer today. The salary is $5k more yearly, I want to stay in my current new role that I started 3 weeks ago. What do you recommend I do? Can I use this to get more money?

    • @clarkglassford9200
      @clarkglassford9200  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My advice on this is view your options cautiously as you don't want to hurt a relationship with your new employer if they perceive you as being greedy or a flight risk to another organization. If you really want to stay in the current role there is a reason for it (i.e. type of work, great employer, work/life balance, benefits etc.). Although $5000 is a lot of money, it may not have as much weight when you consider what you are gaining in totality from your current employer.
      If $5000 is a deal breaker for you, then make sure approach it professionally with your ask to renegotiate your salary. The old saying "you never know unless you ask" is very relevant here. Some employers may say yes while others the answer will be "no."
      If you want make the ask, simply approach your manager/HR and say "I've just received another offer. I'm really enjoying my role in this organization and want to stay. The difference in salary is $5000. Are you able to match this offer?"
      If the answer is yes, hooray!!! You are now $5000 richer. 😀 If the answer is no, then you will have to think about if you want to stay or go. But remember, keep it polite and professional. You may not get what you want so be prepared for that!
      Please let me know what you decide. All the best.

    Hello Thanks for the video, I need an advice here, I am having an offer from MNC tech. My current organisation is a small (1000 people) emerging Cloud Tech company. They are giving me a counter offer and I have been working here for the past 1 year and 3 months. The work environment is good and have a supportive boss.
    India's MNC tech - will have more challenge, work life balance will not be good
    Should I consider only brand value and move? or should I stay?

    • @clarkglassford9200
      @clarkglassford9200  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very tricky situation but a nice to be wanted by both companies. There is no right answer as it is personal to you. What I would suggest is that you give some thought as to where you see yourself in the next 5 + years in terms of your career. With that in mind, consider which company will be best at helping you achieve your career goal. The answer to that will help you determine the direction you want to take.
      The other big consideration is of course work/life balance. To me this is very important. If that is an important factor for you, then perhaps your current employer is your best option.
      Good luck in your decision and please let me know which way you proceed.
