Just received a low ball offer and just finished your low ball offer video.
I'm waiting to hear back after my counter and now mentally preparing myself to have to walk away because I don't think they are going to budge :(

Sorry to hear that but at the end of the day you need a certain salary to live your life based on your skills and experiences. If the employer can't meet your counter and what you have asked for is fair based on market rates, then yes you may have to decline. Please let me know how this turns out.

hello! I want to thank you for all the tips you give :) Right now I am negotiating a job offer and hopefully, I will sign soon. However, there is one thing I don't like about my current situation. At the job posting, it was said that a relocation bonus would be provided. after I applied for the job I believe they updated the job posting and the relocation bonus was not mentioned when they gave the job offer. I have asked about it and they said they were waiting for that to be approved. But it looks like they tried to trick me into signing without it and it doesn't feel good. I still keep being nice but what should I do?

Be patient as it sounds like they have to get the relocation approved. In many organizations this takes some time due to the expense. If they do not offer relocation and this is one of the main reasons in applying, you will have to determine if the salary and benefits offered is enough to still be interested in the position without the relocation. This opportunity may also be good for your career development so although it is not great that relocation is not available, use the job to progress your career.
I hope that helps. Please stay in touch and let me know what you decide!

@clarkglassford9200 you were right, I guess that was just a formality. They approved that relocation bonus too and I accepted the job :))

    Insightful analysis !
Could you share some secrets or unknown rules to get a first high paying job as fresher with internship after completing engineering & not depend on job hopping after some months ? Where should i apply more in start ups or mnc companies ? Which type of roles usually do get more earnings is it designing or execution part.. which soft skills should i showcase and learn to stay ahead in the game ? Any top books recommendations around this topic to help me land a good pay job..

Lot's of good questions. My first rule when someone is just starting out their career is, get experience!!! Look for companies and roles that will get you the experience you need to accelerate your career. Often we focus on who pays the most. However, this can be an issue if the job does not give you the experience you need to move ahead in your career in 3, 5, 10 years. So put some time into reviewing where you want your career to go and be selective in the roles you apply for based on what they offer and how it can benefit your career. The money will be way better in the long term! 😉

Thank you so much for this video. In my case, I gave my expected sal at the start and they still continued the rounds. But then gave a lowball saying that’s what the sal of other employees I will be working with is. So now they say that they cannot give more hike since the band will change and also the sal for me will be higher. Not sure if it’s anchoring or real. Have told HR to work on it, let’s see. What are your thoughts?

Yes wait and see how they respond. They did ask for your salary expectations up front and chose to continue with you. If your expectations were out of their salary range they should have told you. That is the professional thing to do so you don't waste time in a recruitment process only to find out that the company can't meet your salary.
You will have to see what they come back with. Are there other areas that are not salary that will perhaps allow you to accept a lower salary (i.e. Bonuses, vacation, pension etc.)? These may be an area worth negotiating. However, you may be in a place where you have to walk away from the offer if they cannot meet your expectations.
Let me know how it all goes and good luck!

@@clarkglassford9200 Hi Clark, thanks for your advice. While they didn’t reach my expected salary, they gave a better offer than the first one after I negotiated. It’s a couple of hundreds less, but at least I didn’t leave that extra money on the table. And best thing is it’s a good firm with lots of extras such as discounts on its products, better med facilities, etc. Plus, the people I will be working under have lots of experience, one of them worked at Microsoft sometime back. So good mentors 🤞🏻.
Your video was a bonus for me, keeping my moxie high in the wait and watch period.

What to do if you decline a job offer and the employer gets so angry that she starts badmouthing you to other potential employers?

    • @clarkglassford9200
      @clarkglassford9200  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

That is completely unprofessional and you should ask them to stop. Applicants declining job offers is all part of the hiring game and employers should be used to this. If the behavior continues, you may want to consider getting legal advice.

How can they know of who your other potential employers are? Either way that's not just unprofessional but sounds borderline illegal as if it could be slanderous and defamatory if it prevents you from getting other opportunities.

@@Whoeverwhateverwhenever ahhh I see. Well my suggestion is to document everything in emails date and time stamped. And if you need to, do it in an email with them directly document what the conversation was and what was said. If you are in a 1 party state of consent then you could possibly record the conversations for your protection. I'm in California so there's no way I could do that. Also take screenshots of any phone call logs you had with them or your phone bill or Zoom meetings and other employers as well. Threatening to harm you by reputation is very serious. Document everything and contact an attorney.
