But I don't see why people are bashing on him in the comments section for talking about himself and seeing money and such as a game and becoming ultra-rich and successful. Money may not give you happiness but it sure removes the stress of knowing if you can fill your car up or even pay rent or get groceries and that's far worse than just being sad
It really isn't though, I know plenty of broke people that are happy raising families and taking care of things the best they can. I also know quite a few rich people with their lives in shambles, or dead from suicide. I know it's stressful when you are asking people for help, juggling credit cards, asking for rides to work so you can afford to pay back the last ride to work, but I'll take that stress any day over being so hopeless I off myself with a decent savings account.

He seemed so humble before in his previous podcasts, but now all I hear is money, I got so much money idc about money anymore, women, I fucked so many women idc about women anymore, where’s the guy that appreciated the small things in life???
Honestly, yeah. The idea of playing something like a video game is figuring out the meta, and abusing it. You know the idiots who got into nft’s early and made bank? They’re not idiots. They just play it like a game. Anyone can be successful, if it’s the only thing you focus on. It’s like being in shape, or good at a video game. If that’s the only thing you focus on, you’ll succeed. But do you really want that? I’m much happier focusing on my wife and daughter. I enjoy working my 9-5 and I don’t want to have to dedicate 100 hours a week of my life, potentially for the next 30 years, just trying to make money. To me that’s foolish. But, if that’s what you want, that’s what you can do.
It's because everything gets boring once you achieve it. People who make millions or Billions stop feeling anything for it. And when you become financially free permanently then you lose a major aspect of life - which is working to survive. This is why so many retired people become depressed or aimless. The issue though is they have money to fall back on. They won't go homeless if they don't work. So people who say money doesn't mean anything are able to do so because they don't need to worry about obtaining it. If Choe was bankrupt and suddenly couldn't afford food - then suddenly money would absolutely be important again. I think what Choe really means is the pursuit of money itself isn't fulfilling. Or it won't satisfy you when you reach it. The fact that so many rich people tell you this probably means it's true. But that still doesn't change the fact we need money to live. And having wealth frees you up to pursue passions. So to the vast majority of the population who are working to survive, these kind of messages ring hollow. But I do understand what Choe really means. He's just saying that becoming wealthy and famous isn't as rewarding as society makes it out to be. But him reaching wealth has now freed him up to pursue things that are actually fulfilling (spirituality and traveling).
Yeah, some of us lack the nuance to connect with a take like this. It sounds wild on the surface, but might be relatable when you get into the details.

Just to be clear, it's entirely possible David Cho "worked hard" and "Got Lucky" at the same time. And the "Got Lucky" part probably pulled a lot more of that 100 million he made than "Working Hard" and that 100 million pulled way more 10's than his funny jokes. That's why so many rich and successful people are like this guy, trying so hard to find something "real" because they realize they were just tools for more powerful people and they feel guilty that they won the rich man lottery. They also feel like they wasted their life being that tool because they're not happy with the result, despite being rich and having tons of sex. Sure, you can tell he's been through stuff and is probably not as trustworthy. But I don't see why people are bashing on him in the comments section for talking about himself and seeing money and such as a game and becoming ultra-rich and successful. If anything, this should be inspiring, not offensive to hear. David Choe's story shows that no matter who you are, if you dedicate your life to something, you can succeed and get good at it. Even money. Also, he's a guest on a podcast. Of course he's gonna talk about his life story. This was a great clip from this podcast.

Exactly. I'll be taking the bus to work for the next few weeks because I can't afford to wheel my tin can into the shop for repairs to keep it on the road. And I'm a fucking supervisor at a government agency.

His unintentional point: being wealthy to begin with definitely helps you make more money and helps you stop caring about money
Man... his appearance on JR Experience #1518 was so amazing, and this one is such a letdown. Wild.
Someone tell Joe to get Jacob Siegel/The Tablet “Guide to Hoax of the Century”
I put my hamster in a sock and slammed it against the furniture
