thats some great sound. you gotta get the GEs at low speed to hear that. when they're flying by at track speed all you can hear are the traction motors singing.
@@GeneralRELee 335RPM's in Low-Idle. Skipfire will make it idle around 330RPM's so certain cylinders can fire which each cycle to save fuel. A High-Idle would be around 440RPM's.
I guess I know why they chose a AC4400CW for Unstoppable, the thing sounds like a grinding menace.I will always love the SD70ACE never the less, but those and the ES44AC come very close for me.
I love the sound of these GE locomotives. I wish GE had supplied the parts to the UK when Brush Traction built the Class 60's although the Mirrlees Blackstone MB275T does sound similar but less aggressive.
Nothing like doing a roll by standing by these powerful Bruts lifting a hundred loads out the yard, especially when the head end is in a hurry to cover the road ,and heavy on the notching up.the ground starts to shake under your feet.thanks.
Great stuff Ben! Sounds fantastic through headphones and a close up Beaver shot as well!! Just think, I'll be there in a short while to see it for myself. Thanks for the tease..LOL Cheers Gregg
You bet Gregg. Headphones or a decent stereo are necessary to recreate these fantastic sounds. Still don't get the reverberation in your chest though, you need to be trackside for that :) No problem! Ben

Thanks. I was thinking about that the other day. I've got quite a few ready to go: 100 ALPX - Alberta Heritage Fund Hoppers (CP cars) 100 ALNX - Alberta Heritage Fund Hoppers (CN cars) 100 Government Of Canada Hoppers 100 Ex-wheatboard hoppers 100 more two bay hoppers 100 CP Rail Trinity Grain Hoppers (CP Rail and Beaver Logo) I just have to get off my butt and make some music to go with them. Hopefully in the next couple months.
roaring EMDS, rumbling GEs, Thundering Alcos.
Although I love the sound of EMD's, I have to say, GE's have their good sounding moments too! I especially love the slow idling noise! :)
+Benjamin “Ozias” Esposti Yeah definitely in the lower notches the GE's have a nice sound.
The whining AC traction motors sound epic when a train is running at high speeds; especially when a GEVO or AC4400CW gets assigned as a DPU.

Something special about the chug of a GE locomotive! Nothing else like it (except maybe the sound of a 4-8-4 steam locomotive!)
Although I'm more of an EMD person, I still love hearing the distinct GE rumble!
You're a man with good taste dude , and also they are 2 total different things , so there is no comparison , the bottom line you can love them both .
@@talalzakry Thanks!
In my headphones you cannot beat these sounds. Boy oh boy do these sound good! Great Job!
0:21 gives me the tingles.
GE locomotives have a nice good ole' chug noise when they rev up
The Idleing cp at 1:32 sounds like a old farm tractor!
Mike Pendergrass I believe they idle at 400ish rpms.

While some may dislike them for being “generic GEVOS” and “boring GEs”, I certainly enjoy them completely!
Very nice video! The sound quality was excellent. Gotta love the sound of those GE engines!
Randy
Absolutely agree Randy. Can't beat the low end chug of a GE.
Great stuff Ben!! Love the good old GEs! Gotta enjoy the smoking AC44s ;)

+TheBlueHero22 Haha yeah it sure does, I want to go back to that spot, the underpass amplified the deep sounds of that GE prime mover.
Love 2 strokes but 4 strokes... What was the thing which is above love?
Especially love Dash 9's throttling up to high rpm's at low speed.
That is awsome !
why does it look like the ES44ACs have most of the horns facing backwards instead of forwards?
