It does have a riser. You have two halves to the machine, the bottom half is just a redesigned riser, where it does not look like a riser, such as the old ones did. When they produce a cabinet where it is all in one and not in half that is when it will be riser less.
I have one of these units, and yes, it does! Simply hold the player 1 start button for five seconds in any game to save scores and head back to the main menu.

So tempted in buying the Pac Man Deluxe but I finished all my arcade collecting and I have the 40th anniversary edition of it.
I had the 40th anniversary and the new Pac Man Deluxe is a great upgrade.
