Amazon card is awesome. The wife and I buy most things off of amazon so getting 5% back is a no brainer. Every year I rack up around $500-$1000 in cash back and use it to buy Christmas presents and other things.
The delta cards (specifically the reserve and platinum) can get you round trip companion certificates too which could be useful to outweigh the annual fee
Another things that most people dont think about when using an AMEX is there isnt a minimum monthly payment that shows on a credit report. I work as a loan originator and when an amex card is on a liability report there isnt a minimum payment. In that case we go with 5% of the total balance. So if you are looking to buy a home using an Amex card isnt ideal is you have a balance.

Even though I am not John, you can take advantage of those higher tier sign up bonuses, and the benefits each one offers. Possibly leaving you with thousands of dollars in cash back or worth of points.

How did you slay amex platinum like that? B class? That's crazy! And did you have a bad experience with Delta? I get your point about devaluation of points but they are a quality airline. Plus if you use amex platinum you can stack delta and amex points at the same time on the same flights you purchase
Delta Platinum has given me great value including a path to platinum status and a few companion ticket the past few years. With just the companion ticket, I have average $250 value each year left after the annual fee. Further, Delta miles aren't the best but I'm happy with my RT LAX-London next year in Delta One for about 160k miles. Also, since I am a traveler, the platinum AMEX is a no-brainer top tier since I am usually a Delta flyer, even work the 5 visits/yr next year.
Agree with you Scott. I just downgraded my Delta Reserve to Delta platinum to maintain the companion ticket for $250/year with the skymiles changes for 2025. Based in Atlanta, I dont really have any other reliable airline options with the amount I travel. Opted to add the Schwab Amex platinum as my daily card.
I just wanted to thank you for suggesting Bilt. Going to save so much money not paying a transaction fee. There is a convenience fee, but $2.95 is so much cheaper than 3.1% of the rent.
Happy to help!! You can also use the account number and routing from Bilt or have them cut a check, that might help get around the convenience fee! Best of luck!
Hey, for starters thanks for the info, as always, amazing information you are sharing! For the chase cards, my main goal is to get the chase preferred, i already have 1 freedom flex, should i get the freedom unlimited too or wait for the preferred to have a higher sign in bonus ? Thanks again!
Bilt card only good if you have rent, I would downgrade that to A or B tier. Ritz is definitely S+ tier; best PP membership, access Sapphire lounges, best travel insurance, and if you use the 85k cert the card is practically free or has positive return value that gives you so many benefits. It should be alone on S+ tier.
Apple Card at D to me is low. I feel like it’s a solid C just because it lets you get apple products broken up into 12 month no interest payments pretty easily. That’s all I’d use it for.
Sapphire Reserve is still A tier. Broad $300 travel credit not tied to a portal, Global Entry, lounge access, car rental status, trip insurance, Pay Yourself Back at 1.5x multiplier makes this card worth the $250 annual fee after the travel credit.
Everyone has their own opinion on which credit card is the best but I choose credit cards by my spending categories in which I achieved the most bonus Rewards
Great knowledge an info... I mainly use my Amex thru my credit union. Low interest rate (14.25) 3x on gas, groceries, travel and 1 for everything else. No annual fee.. Im looking to travel more frequently (2-3 per yr, with 1 international flight) so looking to get that capital one venture x. I have a excellent credit score with low utilization. Do you have a video of how to redeem points for flights and hotel?
Right now I have 2 cards on the C and 1 card on the D. Have beeen trying to learn more. I have a 750 credit score but I don’t travel anywhere. Literally no where. So I’m not sure what card should be perfect for me….🙃🙃
Only reason why I have the apple card is I got it without them running my credit. Preapproved then locked my credit for the inquiry after and still got the card no problem
No love for the Citi Trifecta, eh? It’s not as good as the Chase one, but it deserves better than C. I mean, come on, the catch all Double Cash card earns 2%, which is better than Chase’s Freedom Unlimited at 1.5%. One can argue that the Citi Premier has better multipliers than the Chase Sapphire Preferred, earning 3% on travel and gas versus 2% and 1% for the Sapphire Preferred. The main advantage for Chase is Hyatt, making its points very valuable. Other than that, the two Trifectas are give and take. I would get the Citi one at least a B.
Hey John! Are there any credit cards good for nurses and computer part purchases and/or electronics in general? Additionally, any finance classes you know about to better build a foundation?
So much great info. Love your info. You mention something about adding a user. I am wondering if you may know if I can add anyone as a second user such as a friend a niece or nephew or is it only some credit companies let you do that??

Downgrade it to a free card with a much smaller credit line and sock drawer it. If the opportunity arises to use it and keep it alive and running, then do so. Otherwise, get rid of it.
Did Amex change their terms recently? So you won’t be able to get the sign on bonus for the gold if you’ve already received a sign on bonus for the platinum?
Delta gold card is useful. You get free checked bags and 100 flight credit after 10k in spend. Also, delta is a premium brand so you should expect it to be more expensive. I am not sure why you had to offer that opinion.
I'm hesitant to apply for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card since the year is drawing to a close. Do you have any thoughts on a sapphire reserve update. A lot of its benefits are actually going to end soon. It’s as expensive as the Amex platinum but it’s value and credit seem weaker.
I don’t think the unlimited match offer for the CFU is 6x grocery but instead it’s 3x aka double the base 1.5x, the other offer is 5x grocery and gas up to $12k spend though. Correct me if I’m wrong
The only reason I got the Apple Card is I can use it to finance my iPhone purchases to 24 months increments, only 45 dollars a month is way less burden than paying a thousand dollars upfront 😊
I'm considering a balance transfer card to eliminate interest on of my other accounts so I can pay it off faster. I see that Citi also has their simplicity card, which offers a 3% initial transfer fee vs the diamond preferred 5% initial transfer fee.
I need a advice for a friend So my main card (not first card) is the capital one savior one My best friend never had a credit card before, If I refer him and he gets approved I get 150 as bonus. But What I really want is my best friend to start in the best place possible when it comes to credit utilization, so you know, I want to have a good amount from the start so he can have a good credit score, so is it better if for him to apply to another card like the silver? Or is actually a good idea for him to apply to the savior one that I have ?
I think John's not saying you should get Prime for the card, he's assuming you're already a Prime member when considering the card. As for the US Bank card, which I assume you're talking about the US Bank Shopper Cash Rewards card, the 6% is nice, and it'd certainly be better if you didn't have Prime. However, if you do have Prime, I think the caveat of the US Bank card is that there's a $1500 quarterly limit on the 6% return, and after the first year there's a $95 annual fee. So if you're just getting it for Amazon, after the first year you can't really make up that annual fee compared to the Amazon card which has no annual fee.
@dizzyMongoose There is an annual fee of amazin prime for $139 vs $95 which you get 1% more points plus another places like Walmart ot target for food which again is 1% more then whole foods.
@@TheeScorge You're right about if you're using this instead of Prime for Amazon purchases for the cash back, and I agreed with you, but you didn't address my other point before. If you're already a Prime subscriber, which certainly a lot people are because of its own benefits, then the US Bank card doesn't look as appealing after the first year, because you'd be paying for Prime plus the annual fee.
@@TheeScorge Right, well, if you're not going to accept the premise that people would get Prime regardless of the credit card, we're just going to be talking past each other.
i bascially jumped from F- tier, to A and S tier. lol. i ddint apply for cards for almost 10yrs after repair/rebuild my credit.I'm gonna pause and apply for chase reserve in a cpl years once my student loans fall off (and for once get an APR sub 20%!?)
In defense of the Apple card, it can be a good option if you apply for it when making a large Apple purchase. You get to pay off the purchase interest-free for 12 months using the card. And you get ALL the Apple cash immediately which can be used as a statement credit or can be put into an Apple savings account that has a respectable interest rate (so this is the card's effective welcome bonus in my opinion). One thing to keep in mind is that the card's issuer, Goldman Sachs, is looking to drop the card sometime in the future so this is all subject to change once the card has a new issuer. And yeah, the physical card is all for show...only use the Apple card where mobile wallets are accepted
Hey John! Thanks for the video! Quick question - if you have an Amex Biz Platinum and A personal one - would you get two Priority Pass accounts or not?
Surprised you put the Delta Gold business card at D class. I;d put them up at B at least. No 5/24 hit, no hard inquiry.. free domestic flights. AF waived first year, $95 AF. Low spend requirement. I'm considering a balance transfer card to eliminate interest on of my other accounts so I can pay it off faster. I see that Citi also has their simplicity card, which offers a 3% initial transfer fee vs the diamond preferred 5% initial transfer fee.
Can you pay your mortgage with BILT?
If the Amazon card is by chase are you able to transfer those points to other chase cards?
Nope. It's cash back, not Ultimate Rewards points
What’s a good first time credit card to apply for I’m trying build my credit score but I want to pay it off quickly
Can I actually get a personal Venture X and later flip it to the Business Venture X though? 🤔
I would apply for the VX business directly for another sign up bonus! Best of luck
@@johnsfinancetips Thanks, John. I'm trying but having a lot of headaches dealing with their business support. Good card but such a lousy support 😿
Why is the Business Amex Platinum better than the Personal Amex Platinum card?
I need a advice for a friend
So my main card (not first card) is the capital one savior one
My best friend never had a credit card before, If I refer him and he gets approved I get 150 as bonus.
But What I really want is my best friend to start in the best place possible when it comes to credit utilization, so you know, I want to have a good amount from the start so he can have a good credit score, so is it better if for him to apply to another card like the silver? Or is actually a good idea for him to apply to the savior one that I have ?
This was kind of a random selection of cards.
Why pay $139 for prime and getting the credit card when you can get 6% on Amazon with thr new us bank card?
@@dizzyMongoose No point in one when you get more value with this card
@@TheeScorge Right, well, if you're not going to accept the premise that people would get Prime regardless of the credit card, we're just going to be talking past each other.
i bascially jumped from F- tier, to A and S tier. lol. i ddint apply for cards for almost 10yrs after repair/rebuild my credit.I'm gonna pause and apply for chase reserve in a cpl years once my student loans fall off (and for once get an APR sub 20%!?)
How is platinum business two levels higher than the platinum personal 🤔
what happened to the audio, John? How come you had to redo it?
These videos would be way better with time stamps or chapters
what card if i don’t travel.
why don’t you never talk about the Amex Green?
Cards for starters, low income, low spend
The benefit is the clarity in my opinion!
What about the Wells Fargo active Cash back the 2% back on everything with the $200 sign up bonus ?
B tier maybe. The Citi one is better cause of other Citi cards maybe? And there's multiple ways to get more than 2 percent cash back on everything
I’m confused, you say percent but is it times? 2x would be 200%, not 2%? Can you clarify?
2x means 2 points per dollar spent
Apple card has zero international transaction cost - this means i can be in england and use it natively like an english credit card.
Hey John! Thanks for the video! Quick question - if you have an Amex Biz Platinum and A personal one - would you get two Priority Pass accounts or not?
Yes. You get 2 Priority Pass account. There's no benefit to having 2 account though.
Is it true that American Express platinum credit card credits you back the annual fee if you’re military?
Yes if you inform them that you are military and verify it is free.
Do I still get the welcome bonus for personal gold card…if I got the business platinum first?
Yes, you are eligible. But you could still be in pop-up jail
not if they dont cancel the 1st card b4 the 1st and 2nd AF is paid@@LK_EBM
Surprised you put the Delta Gold business card at D class. I;d put them up at B at least. No 5/24 hit, no hard inquiry.. free domestic flights. AF waived first year, $95 AF. Low spend requirement. I don't do international travel ever. Also witht eh Delta gold card, you get 15% off on the flights booked with pionts even.
I was expecting the Paypal Mastercard on here. Maybe next time
Just opened my business card from chase. Can I pay my bills and mortgage with it? To reach my $6,000 goal.
Does cash advance count as spending?
No
Talk about the American Express green card
Any thoughts on AA Cobalt?
What about chase United mileage plus cards?
