@@Drave_Jr.crossbow was really great but in bioshock 2 the spear gun is little worse and the rivet gun just does it’s job way better, which the revolver didn’t do to the crossbow
The shotguns my favourite weapon though! Agree with your analysis of it's shortcomings but blasting dudes Doomguy style is a very gratifying experience for me xD
I’m replaying bio2 for the first time in years right now and it’s really nice to see a vid like this from a clearly experienced player. My current (normal) run I’ve banned the rivet gun explicitly because it’s broken. My faves are definitely the spear gun and shotgun. I will say one thing to mention about the machine gun is that you can get an upgrade for it the moment you acquire it because a PTTP station is basically in the same room. That’s nutty early damage. What I really love about this game is that they made the weapons all feel like something a big daddy would actually use, heft and all. They knocked it out of the park with the big daddy idea. Great vid !
Disagree on the reflector, it's fantastic on any enemy that uses explosives, which is a fair amount of them late game. It combined with security command invalidates rumblers entirely, good on launcher alpha series and leadhead grenades too. I use it as a defensive option when I would need telekinesis to deflect an attack normally, but I want to use a different plasmid, then it's great. I always go for it after upgrading the rivet gun's damage.
I feel like the cost of the bullets shouldn't be too much of a drawback. I didn't have less than 150 dollars and now capping at 800 after mid game. This with buying and using better ammo and not even using tonics for less price.
Just doing another play and yeah shotty not that good. U gotta be so close but the Slug rounds are so good against splicers. I really only be using that. But been more with rivet, spear and grenade.
The Ion Laser from Minerva’s Den is also really good
they drasticly improve the balance and utility of all weapon in bioshock 2.
I know right I just used the shotgun and the chemical thrower the whole game
@@ncrranger6409 Wrench and Crossbow for me

I like to pair it with the machine gun when I fight big sisters you use armor piercing with machine gun and finish them off with the shotgun
Getting consistent headshots with the Rivet Gun was the most satisfying thing

not using the damage research tonic is a good way to restrict some of the players dmg to simulate a harder difficulty setting
Grenade launcher is improved but I tend not to use it because I already had rocket spears available sooner.
Um no vita chamber run is equivalent to survival but an increased difficulty lvl would be cool

Good video, thx you.
What about the Ion Laser from Minerva's Den? How do you rate it?
It is decent, it gets overshadowed by the spear gun in the DLC if you can headshot, so maybe a B tier.
W vid
