I really hope you all enjoy this video... I'm just so sorry it took almost 4 months for Part 2. Also, I posted another video earlier about the BIoshock Collection Theme on PS4, which I'd highly recommend checking it out! Thank you! - th-cam.com/video/FHeITqHQR5w/w-d-xo.html
My favorite is the harpoon combined with telekinesis 2. You shoot the spear into your enemy, pull it out of him and throw it at him again with telekinesis. It does a insane amount of damage espacially on big daddys and you never run out of ammo.
I almost regret using the Spear Gun for most of my play-through since almost everything died in one or two hits when fully upgraded. Plus retrievable ammo was too good to pass up. In the end my wallet was almost always full and other guns went unused. Love/hate this thing!
@@jamesworkshop9181 But since Spear Ammo can always be retrieved if you can reach the body, it's not a problem so long as you don't waste all your shots.
A few notes on the launcher and drill: -The launcher starts with a clip size of 3, which gets upgraded to 5 when you get the upgrade. -cluster bombs make heat seeking rockets insane, as you can obliterate most enemies, and makes proximity mines the ultimate little sister defense. -the drill will automatically stunlock splicer enemies when you use the spin attack on them continuously, meaning you only need to zap them once to get a zero-to-death combo on them. -the reflect projectiles makes the drill dash one of the strongest attacks in the game, as you become essentially invulnerable when you dash (as the drill is considered spinning). -The drill is the only damaging weapon that can he boosted with tonics (via the drill power tonics), meaning that, even if it isn't your main weapon, you should always have a stock of fuel to do some emergency dashes or if you're overwhelmed and low on ammo. -if you can, always end research projects with the drill, as it will allow you to rack up a ton of research points for the damage and the death of the enemy
The wrench is definitely the best upgraded weapon. Getting the larger socket for more bigger nuts and the WD-40 upgrade to spin the clasp faster for faster swing rate is mmm deliciousness. lol. (No but srsly Rivet gun max pew pew all the way)
A cool thing you could do with a hacked security bot, is to deactivate it, then put trap rivets on it. That way, the next enemy it attacks, it one shots.
I have a love/hate relationship with the machine gun and the spear gun, for the machine gun the recoil is still big even with the upgrade and the ricochet effect is only good when the target is near a wall to receive the extra damage and for the spear gun the speed and the damage upgrades are nice but there are still faster and stronger weapons like the rivet gun and the grenade launcher. But in their defense, the ammo for both weapons are easy to collect and find, the spear gun is a way easy to get rid of weak enemies and the machine gun in close quarters is a hell of a beast And finally, shotgun, drill and grenade launcher all the way
i found myself really only using the drill during my first playthrough. After you get the dash attack upgrade it becomes so fun to use. it also has a lot of upgrades keeping it powerfull throughout the game. even though it has horrible efficiency, there is always a place to refill it nearby. The drill is my personal favorite weapon and i have really enjoyed playing bioshock on the switch
Minigun is definitely my go-to weapon with increased capacity, recoil damper and the ricochet upgrade. Even if I miss, my shot bounce once or twice around my enemies to deal damage, great for crowd control. Shotgun fully kitted out is my bread and butter for damage dealing, plus the Tesla coil has a utility effect with 1-2 combo from B1. Static shock enemies in the water without spending Eve and empty a pool of enemies while turning your attention to the big boys. My number 1 weapon spot has to go to: Spearbow - it is great in my opinion as a reusable weapon and sniper. Hear me out: your bolts are unbreakable after the third upgrade so you can reacquire them after each use, they deal large damage on alert enemies while unaware enemies from afar take large one-shot one-kill blows. Velocity multiples the damage on enemies from what I tested in a few play throughs. Zooming upgrade helps zero out enemies which always a plus with my Natural Camo and Fountain of Youth combo. I ambush while healing in water and recovering Eve and disappear when I take a shot furthering the overall powerful weapon for sneaky players like myself. I would go with the Ion Laser ... If I had the DLC. But the bow is so much better in damage and range, accuracy and it fits extremely well for my character build. On harder difficulty, the bow and my combos make me an enemy to be feared. Big Sis and Alpha series may have the Health Tank and Plasmid advantages ... but they can't hit what they can't see, touch or stop from regenerating everything from the shadows. I just need to duck and hide when I empty my shotgun and minigun. Once I get my bow out and retrieve the bolts, I'm Gucci. Just try and stop me from ripping out your Adam!
With the right plasmids and Research damage buffs. The spear gun can be a viable and retrievable weapon to use in BS2. Being able to take a good portion of health out of a Brute splicer, Alpha Series, and the Rumblers. The increased Damage and acceleration increase can make it a viable weapon to engage up close and from afar as well
I like your choices. I remember the first time that I saw the test last coils on the shotgun, it blew my mind! What I like to do is to use insect swarm in combination with the shotgun, ribet gun, or the other guns that I have ammo for at the time. That combo that you can do using plasmids and your weapon is absolutely insane! And the drill is totally underrated. When it come to the brute or even spider splicers, the drill can be very helpful. Specially since you can use it without spinning it and it’s still a weapon but it doesn’t waste any amo. Great for any splicer!
I knew that the frozen drill upgrade was the way to go. Although not the best, i deffinetely agree that it belongs here on the list. I used it in my playthrough and it was so much fun. Keep up the great videos :)
I've played BS2 a couple times (sadly I've not been able to play the Minerva's Den DLC), and my top 5 would be: 1. The Speargun - It does a ton of damage and I had a lot of fun watching my enemies flying around and then getting impaled in the wall 2. The Drill - It's the first weapon you get in the game, it's a really unique and the upgrades are very useful, and it's very satisfying beat the living hell out of your enemies 3. The Shotgun - It's simply strong, nothing really special about this one 4. The Machinegun - Yes, I thought it was trash at my first playtrough because of the insane amout of ammo it use, but after trying this weapon in one of my runs, I noticed how much machinegun ammo you can find in the game, also the upgrade that reduces the spread really helps on spending less ammo 5. The Launcher - EXPLOSIONS >:D
I have to actively avoid using the speargun when playing, getting it fully upgraded with the headhunter gene tonic is just literally playing on easy mode. Fully studying alpha series and being able to 1 shot headshot them in the endgame is ridiculous tbh
The shotgun, especially when using solid slug, is deadly fully upgraded. I haven't used the Rivet Gun much, though. I think try it out more on my next play through.
Contact grenades are amazing against big daddies, stick 6 of them on any with telekinesis movable object and throw it at them. Thatll be at least 2/3 of a big dadies health, sometimes bouncers or rosies will even be onehit
Great video! My two favorites are the drill and ion laser. I was wondering, when will you make one of those crazy BioShock theories again? I really like those. If you are out of ideas I have a theory worth thinking about. So you know how right after you kill Andrew Ryan and Atlas reveals that he’s Fontaine you fall into Tenenbaum’s safe house? Well she removes most of the genetic conditioning by Fontaine, but what if Tenenbaum basically did the same thing to Jack to make him kill Fontaine? What if Tenenbaum genetically conditioned Jack so that when Tenenbaum used emotion or humiliation like for example when she says “You let him get away” or “Go! Go now! Hit him with the needle!” to get Jack to kill Frank Fontaine so that she could become the new owner of Rapture. Then maybe after Jack leaves she tries to take control of Rapture but is quickly blown off by Sofia Lamb who then does the same thing Ryan did when he humiliated her for the terrible things she did in the German camps. Then maybe after this, this is why she once again goes into hiding with the little sisters and awaits someone to leave Rapture with... I highly doubt that this theory is true but I just think it’s something neat to think about. Looking forward to future videos, have a nice day!
I would like to state at the start that this is my own opinion and if it sounds like criticism I apologise in advance. I tend to judge the bioshock weapons based on versatility and their end game usefulness , thus I feel that purely focusing on the upgrades is a bit incomplete. To start off, the Rivet Gun clip upgrade increases the clip from 12 to 18, and also increases overall carry capacity. The Launcher clip upgrade increases the clip from 3 to 5. The Drill upgrades may seem awesome in general, but unless one plans to specialise in melee I would personally not recommend it because of its fast fuel use even with the efficiency upgrade, and the reflector upgrade still consumes fuel. The Rivet Gun is fine with a fair headshot potential, in the right hands its not a bad DMR but some weapons can outdamage it. The Launcher can drain your wallet significantly if one isnt careful, I would use mainly proximity mines unless DPS is needed or upgraded fully with cluster bombs. The Shotgun and Gatling Gun would be the more commonly used upgraded weapons for late game, but the Ricochet upgrade isnt the most applicable upgrade given the intensity of some fight sequences. If there is another underrated weapon I would recommend it is the Speargun. Yes, it is a poor weapon to begin without any upgrades but when fully upgraded, it is a great weapon because normal splicers die to 1 bodyshot, rocket spears are extremely damaging, it is probably the fastest Alpha series killer with 1 headshot - especially if there are several together - and all spears travel faster with the final upgrade, making it capable of short range combat to some extent. But as an additional note, do not use the Speargun as an offense/defense weapon without fully upgrading it, and ideally pair it with plasmids that divert enemy attention. The Speargun can also be dubbed the 'cheapo' gun because you can retrieve the spears after firing provided you dont shoot too many and cause them to despawn. With the money saved from using the Speargun you can stock up on other supplies and go nuts with other weapons if desired. I dont use the Ion Laser as much but I would classify it at around the Rivet Gun versatility or slightly better.
Grenade Launcher upgrade goes from 3 shot magazine to 5 and increases the total ammo you can carry from 12/6/6 to 15/10/10. Rivetgun magazine upgrade (12 to 18) also comes with an increase to the number of rivets you can carry, an extra 12 of each type. Rivet ammo is also super cheap at the vending machines, even the special ammo costs the same or less than the most basic shotgun buckshot and you get more rounds. Trick with the Rivet gun is that the heated upgrade will 100% start a fire if you score a headshot Drill specialist cuts plasmid costs in half, in otherwords you can now use twice as many plasmids. The drill is the most supported weapon by gene tonics.
My top three would be in this order. I won't go into the first two much since you already covered them. 1. Ion Cannon 2. Drill(but number 1 for iconic aesthetic for sure) 3. Machine gun. Yes it may have alot of recoil, but if you learn how to prep it's aiming, the recoil isn't too bad. With it's high fire rate and impressive damage(especially when paired with the armor piercing rounds) it is a beast against crowds, and a good stable option for Brute splicers and Big Daddies(Big Sisters are very fast, so I'd choose another weapon for them).
DMG increase on the Speargun buffs both the impact and explosion of rocket spears which is very nice. Trap spear electric wire only gets a dmg increase from electric flesh
The speargun is great though, when combined with the shotgun or the launcher. Hopping off from doom eternal's quick swap technique, you can fire a harpoon, quickly swap to the grenade launcher and fire to bypass the slow fire rate. Rinse and repeat, it deals mad DPS lol
I just finished my marathon. The collection was on sale for 11$ on Xbox recently and I beat them all again but with a major change. I never knew infinite had dlc, even back in 2013, I just never heard about it somehow so going back I had a even bigger excitement bar....and holy fuck. So good. Can't wait for Bioshock 4
I used to love the Speargun in BS2 but then they "fixed" it. Pinning them to the wall was half the fun of the thing but now it's just the crossbow from the first game.
@@daltontharp4002 In the original release version of Bioshock 2 you could use the Speargun to pin Splicer's corpses to the wall if you killed them with it. Remastered however, no.
k first of i love the intro cause i love how you can traverse the sea in bioshock 2 and also i try my best to watch all of the bioshock videos in this channel.
My favorite weapons in 2 are probably the machine gun, the shotgun, the drill, and the ion laser. The rocket launcher is also good and is very helpful against big daddies and big sisters. The rivetgun is also a good weapon (especially when protecting little sisters). I personally don’t use the speargun that much (outside of protecting little sisters, in which case it’s very helpful). The remote hack tool isn’t really a weapon, but it’s still very useful. So is infinite and burial at sea next?
I actually love the speargun (with max upgrades). One shots nearly all enemies, has infinite ammo and once you get acceleration there is pretty much no airtime and no wait between shots. Super op as long as you are a good shot.
I think the rivet gun is the best becouse if you get the damage upgrade and the headhunter tonic you can oneshot thuggish and leadhead splicers in Hard difficulty if you hit their head, and also if you get the heat upgrade to the rivet gun you can start the film with the research camera and shoot them in the head so you get A from the reseach
Speargun by far is super OP late game even not upgraded. Add on all its upgrade and watch as your enemies fly all over the map spreading fiery destruction in their wake.
yes someone agrees with me ion lazer also you kinda forgot the drill dash if you consider that as an upgrade but i believe its something you learn rather than upgrade
Only weapon I disagree with here is the Shotgun, it is the only weapon in the base game that can be fully upgraded on the same level you find it. That is actually pretty nice for anyone that is a fan of it. My problems with the gun are that the drill is just a better close combat weapon and you can barely carry any ammo. As for the upgrades extra damage isn't special and Increased Clip Size only serves to make the weapon usable, more correcting a flaw than turning something from good to great. Voltic upgrade, 3 upgrades to have what seems like a less than 10% chance to do anything at all and in a game where you can offhand the more reliable electrobolt instead that isn't great. Speargun is my pick for the top 5, a base ammo that is the best value for money and provides a great long range weapon. Secret trick of the weapons power is the rocket spear which is crazy fun but also benefits twice from the weapons damage upgrade getting a buff to the direct impact of the shot and to the delayed explosion. Trap spears also gives you trap ammo which the shotgun doesn't get so you can use the weapon in more ways.
Yeah, all Bioshock 1 and 2 plus the Minerva's Den DLC are powerful weapons are the best. Well you know all character powerful weapons with powers. Get some great ideal to share character both weapon and power too. Like teamwork.
is the laser gun exlcusive to dlc only or we cna complete the dlc and then bring it over to the main game some point during the story progression ?? please anyone would you kindly answer this question immediately because if you can then i intend to play the entire game with laser gun only that would be fun if we can do so
In order it would go machine gun, shot gun, spear gun, and rivet gun. Id use rivet/spear when protecting little sisters, then machine gun/shotgun for all aggressive play. The drill was fun to mess around with, but the launcher was never really my cup of tea. As powerful as it is, it just wasn't that satisfying to use in comparison to the other weapons imo. If I wanted to, I could run around blowing people up easily, but that's just not as fun to me
Number 1 for me is accelerated spear gun. Don’t laugh, try it out. Basically infinite ammo and will 1 shot most enemies. Also with acceleration there is barely any air time making aiming as simple as aiming and shooting.
I’m really confused. Separate remasters were just released for 1 & 2. Are they the same remasters from the collection, just released separately, or is it a better remaster?
I just replayed Bioshock 2 and my favorites were the shotgun at number 1 for raw power the rivet gun at number 2 for versatility and I honestly wish I had leveled up the machine gun at 3 quicker it's great for mobs and you find ammo EVERYWHERE i played through on medium and at first the game was pretty challenging but as time goes on meh
How do you get the shotgun before the first PttP station in BS2? I only had the drill, rivet gun and hack tool. And the machine gun you get literally a minute after finding the first station, so I had already upgraded the river gun..
I dont like the drill because of it being a close range weapon which means enemies out of range of a drill can kill you without taking damage and the drill is the most ammo hungry weapon in bioshock 2 and you will have to buy tons of drill fuel Edit: Okay now i like the drill a bit more because of drill dash but in the beginning before pauper's drop and the genetic research camera you can't close the distance quickly on easier difficulties it's manageable but on harder difficulties it's not manageable making it hell the drill being ammo hungry also doesn't help
upgrades only? or weapon fully upgraded? if the former cool, if the latter, the spear gun is such a sad omission, it was a sniper that also no-scoped at close range no problem and got ammo back, however, depending on when you played the game....... you may well be right to skip it. the remastered bioshock 2 was great, but i never recommend it because of how it broke the most fun weapon in the game, spearing splicers against the wall, or using jet fuel to launch them into the sky to explode, or even slowing down daddies and sisters if you rocketed enough into them. sadly these physics effects were removed/glitched in the remaster, speargun upgrades are pretty bland, but the weapon itself, extremely effective and the most fun thing since learning what eletric gel chemical thrower can do
I really hope you all enjoy this video... I'm just so sorry it took almost 4 months for Part 2. Also, I posted another video earlier about the BIoshock Collection Theme on PS4, which I'd highly recommend checking it out! Thank you!

Trick with the Rivet gun is that the heated upgrade will 100% start a fire if you score a headshot
Drill specialist cuts plasmid costs in half, in otherwords you can now use twice as many plasmids. The drill is the most supported weapon by gene tonics.
Bolt + Drill Dash =Spinarooneyyy to 💀
My top three would be in this order. I won't go into the first two much since you already covered them.
1. Ion Cannon
2. Drill(but number 1 for iconic aesthetic for sure)
The damage upgrade on the shotgun sounds like god slamming his car door
Immunity to explosive damage is op
I absolutely love having that as a "just-in-case" upgrade lol.
I love the no splashback damage on the launcher, and the bullets reflect drill upgrade
I like it as well.
@@TheBioshockHub also you are correct on the rivot clip upgrade
I love the drill. I wished it was air cooled though. In the first ever demo it was but for some reason they decided to get it gas fuled
Fax. But that maybe too op. Or it sucks - I'm not sure 🤔
DMG increase on the Speargun buffs both the impact and explosion of rocket spears which is very nice. Trap spear electric wire only gets a dmg increase from electric flesh
Using the spear gun with Electro Bolt is probably my favorite combo for dealing with Alphas
The speargun is great though, when combined with the shotgun or the launcher. Hopping off from doom eternal's quick swap technique, you can fire a harpoon, quickly swap to the grenade launcher and fire to bypass the slow fire rate. Rinse and repeat, it deals mad DPS lol
Here's a hint for anyone starting on hard and hoping to play through melee right before daddy hits with his charge to knock him off course
Just finished the first game, starting the second one ,right now
Every time I watch a bioshock video it makes me want to replay the series again
It's way too good honestly :)
Found your channel on part 1 so really nice to have a sequel. Just hope i dont have to wait till halloween for infinite
Lol, don't worry. It'll be up soon.
It's been so long since I've played bioshock this is making me want to play them again. Maybe I'll marathon them one day
You definitely should soon!
@@chrispy6953 same hope they dont disappoint 😁
Spear Gun is love, Spear Gun is life.
I used to love the Speargun in BS2 but then they "fixed" it. Pinning them to the wall was half the fun of the thing but now it's just the crossbow from the first game.
What do you mean,
@@daltontharp4002 In the original release version of Bioshock 2 you could use the Speargun to pin Splicer's corpses to the wall if you killed them with it. Remastered however, no.
@@OnDavidsBrain huh cool
wow, i am really early this time :D, i was asking for this in the livestream, so my day is now even better (love your voice btw)
Told you it'd be here soon :D
@@TheBioshockHub yup :)
k first of i love the intro cause i love how you can traverse the sea in bioshock 2 and also i try my best to watch all of the bioshock videos in this channel.
Infinite will definitely be next. Or maybe Bioshock 2's multiplayer?
TheBioshockHub, oh yeah I almost forgot about 2’s multiplayer. That could also be a good video especially since it has a unique weapon.
I actually love the speargun (with max upgrades). One shots nearly all enemies, has infinite ammo and once you get acceleration there is pretty much no airtime and no wait between shots. Super op as long as you are a good shot.
I love having a fully upgraded rivet gun.
First weapon i fully upgraded
The clip increase upgrade for the Launcher actually brings it from 3 to 5
I totally agree with the ion laser it’s great and lancers are so bad ass
Delays are alright. Adds suspense!
:o
The "Would you kindly" at the end 😂 i see what you did there
Yeah, all Bioshock 1 and 2 plus the Minerva's Den DLC are powerful weapons are the best. Well you know all character powerful weapons with powers. Get some great ideal to share character both weapon and power too. Like teamwork.
Hmm never done a Drill playthrough... thinking I should!
I played just about half my playthrough with the drill and it was very niice
I hope the new bioshock game will have great upgrades
Me too!
is the laser gun exlcusive to dlc only or we cna complete the dlc and then bring it over to the main game some point during the story progression ??
please anyone would you kindly answer this question immediately
because if you can then i intend to play the entire game with laser gun only that would be fun if we can do so
The machine gun was my favorite besides maybe the drill and lazer
I can't believe how good these games look after that 4k update
In order it would go machine gun, shot gun, spear gun, and rivet gun. Id use rivet/spear when protecting little sisters, then machine gun/shotgun for all aggressive play. The drill was fun to mess around with, but the launcher was never really my cup of tea. As powerful as it is, it just wasn't that satisfying to use in comparison to the other weapons imo. If I wanted to, I could run around blowing people up easily, but that's just not as fun to me
That's a badass thumbnail with the Big Sister, Erik! ✌🏼
Agreed
I'm glad you like it :)
The spear gun is pretty useful
I gotta buy them neca props before they get to expensive now that bioshock is getting popular again 😄
Number 1 for me is accelerated spear gun. Don’t laugh, try it out. Basically infinite ammo and will 1 shot most enemies. Also with acceleration there is barely any air time making aiming as simple as aiming and shooting.
“Keep it civil” was that a pun? Anyway the spear gun is great and top on my list of best weapons
“A gun in every home, peace on every street.”
― Frank Fontaine
I’m really confused. Separate remasters were just released for 1 & 2. Are they the same remasters from the collection, just released separately, or is it a better remaster?
Hey Erik I've been looking through your videos did you end up making a Infinite weapons video? Because I can't seem to find it
Currently on the list of works in progress :)
Bioshock 2 is one of my favorite games, mostly because of Eleanor.
I love the game as well. Summon Eleanor is busted lol.
Rivet Gun 12 Bullets - 18 Bullets upgraded, hope you know what i'm talking about.
I do.
and my favorite weapon is the ion laser and the rivet gun
Yaya the drill number 1
i always went with shotgun first, cant go wrong
When in doubt, shotgun... That's it.
How do you get the shotgun before the first PttP station in BS2? I only had the drill, rivet gun and hack tool. And the machine gun you get literally a minute after finding the first station, so I had already upgraded the river gun..
Another great video. I can't wait for the best upgraded weapons in Bioshock Infinite.
Should be out in a bit.
Bolt + Drill Dash =Spinarooneyyy to 💀
The ion laser melts any enemies in mere seconds in easy and medium modes
It's so fun to use.
@@TheBioshockHub :D Ken Levine needs a comeback. Its not like the new System Shock is getting released anytime soon.
Well the best plasmid is the Bee swarm none can get near you even the Bouncers
Insect Swarm = my favorite!
The skyhook can get really over powered
I'm currently playing on hard mode. Whats the best weapon to upgrade first? Drill rivit-or chaingun
I'd recommend the Rivet.
lol i love the way you pronounce fire!! “fierrrr” haha! love the content! subbed :)
Great video 👍
Thank you!
I dont like the drill because of it being a close range weapon which means enemies out of range of a drill can kill you without taking damage and the drill is the most ammo hungry weapon in bioshock 2 and you will have to buy tons of drill fuel
Edit: Okay now i like the drill a bit more because of drill dash but in the beginning before pauper's drop and the genetic research camera you can't close the distance quickly on easier difficulties it's manageable but on harder difficulties it's not manageable making it hell the drill being ammo hungry also doesn't help
I dont like the shotgun upgraded because with the damage increase its crazy loud for some reason
YOUR CHANNEL IS AMAZING LOVE FROM BRAZIL
Bioshock 2 Shotgun is awesome
Agreed, especially fully upgraded.
Launcher goes from 3-5 lmao, how many times have you played bioshock 2?
Can't...resist...to...like...this...video... :D
Appreciate it buddy!
Awesome channel
upgrades only? or weapon fully upgraded? if the former cool, if the latter, the spear gun is such a sad omission, it was a sniper that also no-scoped at close range no problem and got ammo back, however, depending on when you played the game....... you may well be right to skip it. the remastered bioshock 2 was great, but i never recommend it because of how it broke the most fun weapon in the game, spearing splicers against the wall, or using jet fuel to launch them into the sky to explode, or even slowing down daddies and sisters if you rocketed enough into them. sadly these physics effects were removed/glitched in the remaster, speargun upgrades are pretty bland, but the weapon itself, extremely effective and the most fun thing since learning what eletric gel chemical thrower can do
How about best gear to use in Infinite?
I could do that.
Thanks! Would be great.
**cries in machine gun**
Just got plat on PS but mught go back to play again tbh,
Congrats on the Plat!
Hello friend I have a question is there a new plus for bioshock 2 🤔
Who else wants these to have a remake on the Ps5
Can someone fact check the shotgun being any good? I used it on hard and it didn’t feel like it hit hard enough
Once again I would say shotgun
That's why it's on here :D
Drill ist the best
