Realistic Schizophrenic Simulation

  • Listen with headphones for best effect. I find the accuracy of schizophrenia, bipolar and psychosis simulations on the internet not nearly up to scratch, so as someone who suffers from schizophrenic bipolar I decided to edit from first hand experience. I went off medication until I was in that state that I had an accurate reference to work with. I hope to make it as accurate as possible for a 'normal' person to get a sense of how horrible this illness is. It is a living hell. Please share with everyone who misunderstands or judges mental illness. The stigma must stop.

      Thank you. As an outsider, this is so valuable to hear an insiders perspective. Sorry if this is weird to ask but do you have OCD? do you think it's common for people with schizophrenia to have OCD? I'm just really curious about the relationship between the two right now

    • @TheVanmeijer

      @@winkleberrygang Everyones brains are different. I personally don’t have official OCD, but often have the feeling of adjusting out of line objects or seeing patterns or having the need to align my eyes to look at light or objects that they seem more parallel, but often official OCD suffers are extreme clean freaks and need everything perfect and ‘vacuum packed’ or it disturbs them even so much that they can’t move forward until everything is perfect as they need it to be. Usually my room is a mess and I hate showering, which is typical symptoms to psychosis/ schizophrenia. So there are slight overlaps of different symptoms but often you only get one diagnosis that adequately encompasses the whole. Also you can have OCD without having any audio/ visual distortions/ hallucinations.

    i also find the visual distortions very accurate too. the way they are nearly reality but not quite. the mind focusing in on really random moments, making them feel really important and relevant. especially facial expressions. very well done.

      PARTICULARLY the way they are nearly reality. This is something many miss atleast to me. They either sensationalize it and overdo it or make it seem like just a bad panic/anxiety attack. They miss the large colorful hell faces taking up the entire ceiling faded in half way between our world and there's (I hope I'm not triggering you just expressing my experiences) or the swarms that poke and prod at any exposed skin as well as the more basic things like it's more minor effects even in good times when people can't tell when the people who are fortunate enough to sometimes pass for normal are able to pass for normal.

    Visual distortions are a very important symptom to acknowledge. My mate Sully who lives with schizophrenia his whole life hates looking people in the eyes, because the longer he looks at someone's face, the more it distorts and contorts until it's an incomprehensible writhing mess. It's his most persistent visual hallucination.

    I think I might be getting into initial stage of psychosis caused by substance abuse and stress from work. I sometimes have "images" pop up in my mind's eye, as if imaginative pictures, but more vivid, uncontrollable and sudden in such way, that they somewhat shock me and overlap the reality. As if a piece of dream world intrudes you mind. Recently I had some kind of "vague entity" enter my mind's eye: it was not human, but definitely antropomorphic, somewhat ethereal and very vague, that I couldn't make out what it is, only a blurred outline. It was doing some sort repetitive motion, as if a dance, and it felt like it was trying to "attack" my mind in such a way. And producing a sound, like a mantra, or a song, but in a way it resembled human speech, as if there were "words". Initially I ignored it, but eventually I noticed that even though it was a vague blur in my mind's eye, I couldn't shake it off and it started to interfere with my ability to think straight and I started to zone out and needed to separate myself from people around me for a moment. Gratefully, it had passed after 15 minutes, but It was an entry point for me to quit weed. Now I understand that it was possibly a mild psychotic experience and now I understand how difficult it is for people who have it to describe what it is.

    • @TheVanmeijer
      @TheVanmeijer  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m not sure if you are in any way spiritual. But I know for a fact that drugs and also psychosis opens doors into the spiritual world. In the ancient times those who were born or developed psychosis were trained and used as the seers of the villages to interpret and give information on ‘the world beyond’ also people for all the ages used drugs, especially hallucigenics to access spiritual sight and experience. If you aren’t prepared for it it becomes very dangerous. People don’t understand what they dabble with when using drugs. The only lasting way of keeping your soul safe and escaping hell is through Jesus Christ. I can fully testify to that. Any other form of spiritual deliverance won’t help you much. I strongly suggest to pray and receive Jesus. It is clearly a demon who has infiltrated you and speaking curses over you. But the moment you come under the power and healing of Christ you have nothing to fear. ;)

    Hey bro i do think all these symptoms occur in every human being , i get the impression the condition exaggerates them even more . Like the voices telling you things isit your own voice of course its your brain changing it . We all talk to ourselves in our head sometimes negative sometimes weird sometimes anger etc noises we all do that too can be subtle can be a whisper thinking someone has said something . We all also become laxadaisicals and day dream to the point things slow down for a second . We all want to look and feel good and care what othwrs think its ego . I have a question the voices you hear are they your own or some random voice your have neve heard also can you mimic the exact voice if somebody asked you to? Im just interested aha hope tnings are well thanks

    • @TheVanmeijer
      @TheVanmeijer  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The difference between suffering from psychosis and having natural negative feelings and thoughts are night and day difference. Psychosis is so overwhelming that you stop being able to function in normal society and you detach from reality. Yes everyone can experience some form of paranoia or feel down now and again some days. But Psychosis is like taking an hallucinogenic drug and having a very bad trip. It definitely isn’t normal… But most people may have a psychotic experience once or twice in their lives, usually when they go through an extreme experience like death in the family, divorce or break up, physical or emotional abuse etc. But like me, some people have it chronically and the brain tells you that you are going through that experience every moment of every day regardless of your actual experience because of chemical imbalance in the brain. I doubt most people experience exactly what happens in this video. If this is exactly how you see and hear things then it isn’t normal. Often we hear our own thoughts or ideas that can either lift us up or break us down. I believe in the spiritual world though and Jesus has helped me cope, and often negative thoughts that comes from outside of us can be satan or demons trying to break us down, but God can also speak to us through many ways. Also the area you live or work in can largely affect your spiritual and emotional state, because some areas have more demonic strongholds or Godly atmosphere… Usually when I leave the city and go to the country side I feel great relief, not sure if you can relate and also the voices are less, it also goes with country to country. Different feeling and different influence… There are usually 3 voices, God, satan or yourself, but with psychosis you hear all kinds extra delusional voices that simply does not exist telling you absurd realities, like you start believing trees can walk and you need to rip them out to liberate them from being trapped in the ground and you get so obsessed with it that you start telling everyone about it and even start blogs and fund raising campaigns to “liberate the trees” - It is more than just conspiracy theorists or cults where sane people are brainwashed. Psychosis is a mental illness, not a mental state or belief system. You can’t simply change your mindset to heal your mind, you need chemical help and a healthy lifestyle. Even eating wrong can trigger bad effects. Also long term unhealthy life styles and eating McDonalds every day with no exercise can cause severe mental illness, but most people can return to “normal” when they change it because their normal state is a healthy mind, unlike me who was born with mental illness. Basically I need a physical change in my brain to get healed. I believe God can heal me, but the medical world says it can’t be cured and they actually have no real idea what it is. It is stigmatised by the religious, general society and even doctors and scientists… They actually don’t feel comfortable with trying to understand it and tend to explain it away or just medicate it away that it stops bothering them…

      @@OS-bs9ky I don’t really lose awareness. But yes perhaps your post head trauma has caused similar symptoms. I don’t think you need to worry about that you might have schizophrenia. Head trauma symptoms have similarities. It is best to stick to what your psychiatrist says or advises. I have learned that lesson the hard way by going off medication or making my own diagnosis. This video is the physical manifestations that goes along with psychosis. The common misconception is that the sufferer hears ‘self talk’ attacks. But negative self talk is common amongst most people, not a specific symptom of psychosis or schizophrenia. Ofcourse negative thoughts can be more common with mentally ill people and only makes it worse, but that isn’t psychosis. I specifically did not relate with the other videos on youtube that ingrains this concept of psychosis/ schizophrenia amongst people. In this video you can hear a strange mocking voice at the end. Those are more the audio hallucinations that goes along with it. Usually thé suffer can not really figure out what they hear and have negative thoughts on ‘Is that really what I heard?’. That increases the anxiety.

      i have schizo effective disorder, understanding the difference between everyone's experience is also very very important, especially instead of treating it like its just a stereotype this video is more like what people think the disorder is like versus what it's actually like. i personally feel like Lorelei was partially on point with their comment, because you still hear everything regardless its just not as severe at times, life doesn't just glitch it more or less plays tricks on you like thinking you're taking an order at work, but really there isn't even anyone there, trying to decipher who and what is real, from what isn't--but then again those are MY symptoms. it could've been the main focus of this video, if those were your symptoms, but they're not. thus i do not personally think the video accurately displays my own schizophrenia symptoms.

      these visual distortions may be accurate for some people with schizo effective disorder, but everyone's experience is different because for me its more like auditory, and there's always multiple versions of my own voice commenting on everything i'm doing. there's never complete silence for me. i think you should've explained that in the description as to not make people who do have the illness and fall behind the category of what you are implying is a common stereotype will also make people who experience it differently feel misunderstood, like confusing people just to confuse them even more. i'm not saying this isn't or is the correct understanding of the illness, i'm mostly saying that other people with this illness will have different experiences and will want to share their input, it just seems wrong to label it as fake, when they could actually have it to you're disregarding other peoples symptoms. the proper response would've been everyone's experience is different. @@TheVanmeijer

    • @TheVanmeijer
      @TheVanmeijer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very accurate analysis. The mind might make connections with distorted visuals and sounds to connect to memory of things seen or heard that can trigger very scary imaginations. Something never comes from nothing. But if you listen very carefully to the layers of sound you can hear whispering and often the sufferer thinks they hear the thoughts of everyone around them and their distorted faces makes reading body language practically impossible and leads to them thinking everyone around them are evil and out to get them…

      Interesting observation. It is in a way a kind of short circuit in the brain, as the brain is full of electricity… But the images taken is often faces and distorted body language that causes immense emotional chaos in the person struggling with psychosis. The audio visual hallucinations is only the surface. It is the emotions that go with it that feels like you are being tormented in hell…

      @@TheVanmeijer I see. Thank you for that explanation. Very interesting how the brain perceives the messages. Is there a way to work with each part of the brain one at a time, in order to help the patients to take messages and emotions in, in a somewhat more soothing manner? I don’t know how to put this in words. Such as, voices, the part of the brain that expresses voices, could that be worked on separately?

    • @TheVanmeijer
      @TheVanmeijer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Intuitive1 I mean I have tried just in my own mind to try and separate and focus on separate things but that only ends up taking me down another rabbithole of chaos. If you try very hard to find a sense of sanity through meditation or focus it is like your mind slips from the pressure and you end up where you started. Like digging out of a hole only to find yourself back in a hole. Medication alleviates the symptoms and keep you ‘sane’ to an extent that you can to a degree function in society, but it is still an uphill battle. The brain is one unit, if one part is focused on it influences the rest. Many people who can’t afford medication tends to become alcoholics or use other substances, many also find relief in religion and a large percentage of people suffering from this ends up committing suicide.

Naturally if it is genetic the symptoms start to form between the ages of 17 and 25 and then stays for life. That is what scientists say anyway… It developed in me at age 22, but I was born with Torrettes syndrome and the symptoms for that already showed at age 2.
