    This week on #DriveEveryFerrari an ultra rare manual 4-seater Ferrari - the often neglected 612 Scaglietti.
    A continent-crossing luxury grand tourer with a 5.7 litre V12 naturally-aspirated engine, rear wheel drive… and looks only a mother could love. But, a genuine Ferrari performance bargain, and a car that TheCarGuys have been dying to drive.
    In this week’s episode we give you a full tour of the inside and outside of this underappreciated car, a look at its history, and of course the full test drive.
    Drive Every Ferrari is a series within the main TheCarGuys.tv channel, which aims to get behind the wheel of every Ferrari road car from the company’s origins right up to present day. It’s going to be extremely tough to get them all, but with your help, we’ll get there. If you have a Ferrari that hasn’t been covered yet, please get in touch and see if your car can be the star of a future episode. Damian@thecarguys.tv

      @MrJubi40 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. Far to heavy and good luck with maintenance costs. There is a good reason why these cars are relatively cheap, M8. So is this manual, which btw. no one really understands how to order a manual gearbox in a Ferrari V12 GT….

    • @Tential1
      @Tential1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it's ugly.
      Jesus dude, we're trying to buy the car, not sell it. Tell people how horrible it is. It's trash.
      But ya... I f with this hard. It's my favorite. A stupidly expensive vehicle with amazing performance. Yes, not as good as a 2 Seater... And I couldn't care less. Driving a practical Ferrari is too hilarious a thing to pass up. The fact ferrari lovers don't like it because it's not a sports car only makes it better for me.

    I’m currently on a road trip with my 612 HGTC and loving it. We had a serious thrash through the Dolomites and even managed to enjoy a few mountain passes that are already open. Even after almost 6 years of ownership I”m always impressed with how well the 612 handles when you really push on. Most larger cars make you feel like you are abusing them when you attack a really twisty road but the 612 just gets better and better. Everything comes together and it all flows. Carbon brakes are a must for alpine passes though. I’ve driven a steel braked 612 on these roads and they really can’t handle the pace for long. A word on reliability, my car has been super reliable with nothing going wrong in the time I’ve owned it. Just services and tires. Drive it regularly and drive it hard. They don’t like to sit in garages, that’s when the break. Nice review Damian. People may question the looks but most are agreed it drives great.

    I agree with Jeremy Clarkson in his comment about the Verbier Race
    “I feel lucky to have spent so much time with it. Furthermore, I have the sense that I’ve driven a car that gets very close to motoring perfection.”
    So feel I every day. It’s absolutely fantastic, and the shape is as simple and perfect as a car bodywork can be. Nothing to add. Nothing to take. I felt in love with V12-4-seater Ferrari as my father owned a 365 GT4 2+2, so I bought my first 412 and loved it. What an incredibly elastic engine. There is nothing like the V12! Then the 456M, kinda loved it, too, but…Now it’s the 612. I love all of them, but driving the Scaglietti hard is gliding to heaven. And all other Ferrari, vintage or modern, too, each on his own way-even a Mondial is a really cool car and drive. This brand is just incredible.

Powerful sensation and V12 sound related to past time classic-car age are unmatched. I love it, to watch and to drive. Yes, to watch too. Aesthetics criteria are moving on, and I think it's going to be a wonderful Youngtimer. Today, more than yesterday, not so bad its appearance. Tomorrow?! Thanks for great video.

    Hello again ! Your descriptions and comments are spot on. I have never sat in or driven a 612 Scaglietti, but I agree that its not one of Ferrari’s beauties. Dimension wise, I used to (and still do) feel that a Maranello (5,50 m) was the limit for handling purposes, even for a rapid GT. At 4,90 m The Scaglietti is far to big in my humble opinion. And the dashboard wouldn’t have won any prizes, even in its time. I am well aware thar this is just nibbling on my part.
    Atmospheric V12 and manual gearbox are probably alone worth purchasing this underrated car. Your followers, many of which may not know all that well the history of Ferrari, are lucky to have you sharing these privileged sessions with them. Well done and thanks ! Good balanced review Damien with some excellent history - I think it's simplish design is now appreciated in a world of angles, reverse angles and bits tacked on we now get - Sort of a mash-up ofPeugeot 406 coupe (456 influenced) and Audi A6 coupe (coke bottle) swoopiness stretched out I'm thinking in profile. The manual is better I drove one at launch. I then stupidly bought a black 612 F1 from DK Engineering in 2010 (previous owner the Arsenal Goalkeeper... Almunia think his name was) - On test drive I quite liked it's stately elegance and poise, but once I actually got it I hated the bumpy ride, vague understeery nature of the front on sweeping bends, the F1 box that would drop out of gear at 5000rpm occasionally (not good when overtaking a lorry) and the high inertia felt within the V12 felt more like 400bhp to be honest. I expected a lot less quirkiness tbh given it was a 2005 car. Much better than a 456, which are in my opinion truly awful, but I think the beautiful to my eyes 400/412 (Rain Man -Tom Cruise and his Italian beau anyone !) would be my fave cheap 4 seat Ferrari although it's of course stodgy but you expect it of a 70/80s 4 seat car !

    Ooh, that's a bit harsh.."wine gums, marshmellows".. sorry Damien, but I have to disagree with you here. The double round tail lights are a classic Ferrari element. I love them on the back of my Maranello, situated atop the twin exhausts. I actually found the special edition 612, two tone cars, very classy. Loving the Drive Every Ferrari series. My 575M is there for you, should you wish to make the journey down under to drive one. More please.

    I liked the design from the get go and never understood why so many people detested it. With the manuel it's a very good proposition, I think.

    Looking at the 612 more thoroughly since long… time has been extremely kind to its design, well proportioned and the front, dare I say it, I think it‘s beautiful. Full stop.

    I think the side profile of the Ferrari Roma has a lot in common with the 612, especially the part next to the front arches. Cheers from the Netherlands

    I remember borrowing one of these for 24 hours to test drive as a collectible option years ago, also a manual, they lent it me overnight, I backed it into a massive plant pot at the hotel. Following day at the dealers I confessed the damage, handed it them back and told them I didnt want it 😬 By the way, if you want to try a manual 575 with FHP, let me know.

    Before Ferrari launched their sales office in India they had a pair of 612 Scagliettis doing a pan India tour to prove Ferraris could handle Indian roads. I saw the pair in town when they passed through my city and in flesh I actually liked their looks. It's the kind of appeal 911s have.

    Don’t get your hate for the 70s/80s 365gt4-412. I think they are very cool in a Bryan Ferry kind of way.

    I have always thought that the 612 was a really purposeful design,what’s not to like about a four seater coupe with a v12 under the bonnet and acres of leather inside. The only missing item was the Daytona seats. A great car and such a bargain still.

    A couple things I discovered from Ferrari ownership, there was One 2 One version of the 612, which was an upgraded version, also the blue came in slightly different shades. (The blue always looked the same to me )😊
