Using a kettle to heat water to thaw vegetables--that's a big brain play. I like that a lot.
Thank you.

Your videos are the best for all who love Asian cuisine but don’t have an Asian mom or grandma to guide us. Very simple to follow minus the hype and pointless verbiage. I’ve made many of your recipes and my kids and grandkids love them all!
Thank you, and keep posting❤️

You're very welcome. Great to hear you had great results cooking with frozen veggies. Thanks for checking out my video.
Thank you so much for this! I will be using it often. I tried once doing this with frozen veggies and ended up with a wok full of mush because I added the veggies right from the bag, frozen- duh. All that water. LOVE this!!
You're very welcome. If you have the time, you can just defrost the veggies without pouring the boiled water. My way is good if you are in a rush or don't have time to defrost. Thanks for checking out my video. Happy cooking!
Oh my gosh!!!! You just opened up a whole new world for me, I wouldn’t have ever thought of using frozen vegetables. This is such a great idea! Wow, thank you so much!!

Hi Dan!
Thx for the video, I also bought a big bag of frozen veggies... but haven't tried using them yet. Now I know what to do! I like the boiling water technique, I'm gonna use that!
Thank you!
You're very welcome. A big bag of veggies always come in handy. Thanks for viewing my video on Frozen Veggie Stir Fry.
I thaw my frozen vegetables the same way. If the broccoli is too big I'll cut it up into smaller pieces.
In 1991 I went to a driving school in another state and had to do my own cooking. I bought a wok. We had a communal kitchen and after the first time I used my wok every time I used it it was a teaching moment. I started learning how to cook when we were in elementary school. My grandmother cooked for a living and was my first cooking teacher. I also picked up some things when I was in the Army and also when I was overseas.
When I first pulled out the wok in driving school I could not believe the number of people who had never seen one. "What is that?" "What do you do with it?" "How do you use it?" "Can I fry chicken in it?" Every night for 10 weeks was a teaching session for using a wok. I tried to wait until the others had done their cooking but there were a few who hung around because they did want to learn. And taste. They also learned that there's more to food flavor than just salt and pepper. A few of the guys I think appreciated me showing them my kitchen skills and how I could take the same basic ingredients and change the meat for a different taste.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm sure the people that watched you cook benefitted greatly. Do you still have that original wok from 1991? I threw out my first wok that I bought in Chinatown many years ago. At that time I didn't know how to restore it after it rusted out. Interesting point you made about people not knowing what a wok is. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables. Wishing you continued success in your cooking adventures.
@@ChineseCookingChannel, I left it with my mom and sis and she stupidly threw it out because the outside had rusted due to not being used.🤦🏽♂️ I liked using it more compared to the one I have now. It was smaller and I have not seen that model since.
I discovered stir fry recently and it changed my life.
That's great to hear. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables. Wishing you all the best in all your cooking adventures.

@@ChineseCookingChannel Thanks, I be sure to try that hot water tip to get crunchy texture frozen vegetables.. Have tried in past just rinsing the ice frost from the veg n cooking it, it tasted quite soggy n limp which I didn't quite enjoy... 😍

I'm American, but have always associated water chestnuts with Chinese stir-fry. Also of course, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, etc.... Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately?? La Choy maybe had a lot to do with that. Another thing is, I love to see bamboo chutes.... I think they are great in stir fries. Nice video! Thanks for the tips for this American wannabe! I LOVE Asian cooking of all sorts.
;)
Great to hear that you LOVE Asian cooking. Water chestnuts and bamboo shoots add a nice touch to stir fries. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
hello sir! just today i subscribed on your channel. the 1st video i saw was your beef with radish dish and i remember how my mom cooks the same way coz my mom is a filipina with sapanish blood and my dad is chinese. so i was born eating chinese dishes also. i also enjoyed watching your version of pork bun, and my mom also use to cook it but my mom uses pork cubes not the minced pork. hope to see more of your new videos.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's a great idea to use pork cubes in steamed buns. Minced pork is just another way to do it, and also saves a step. Overall, I prefer the pork cubes and sometimes with leftover Chinese barbeque pork. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables. Thanks for subscribing. great tip to thaw them first! thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I find that putting boiling water over frozen vegetables is better than boiling them, because they become water logged if they're boiled too long. Tell me what you think if you try the boiling water over frozen vegetables method. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Srir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Thanks so easy to cook

Yes, baby corn and water chestnuts are 2 nice ingredients for stir fry. If I recall, I think there were chestnuts in this frozen package. Or maybe it was another brand. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.

The frozen veggies can be thawed using regular water not boiling water you could soak them in cold water and change it 3 times maybe and they start to thaw without getting cooked so they become crunchy.
Thank you for your excellent suggestion. I use boiling water because it speeds up the process. I will try your way and see how it goes. Thanks for your comment and thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Great video! And I love your oil bottle.
Thanks very much. At first I kept forgetting to open the plastic lid when pouring the oil, but now it's works o.k. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.

Love your videos man! keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do! Thanks for checking out this video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Looks delicious. Have you tried this without thawing out the veggies with boiling water? And just putting them straight into the wok? Curious how that would turn out. Great video!
The main benefit of using a carbon steel wok is to sear the food when cooking. You can put the frozen vegetables directly into he wok but it would be just like boiling the vegetables. If you have the time, you can let the vegetables thaw out naturally, let the vegetables dry up a bit and then stir fry.... this would be better than my boiling water method. Thanks for your question and thanks for viewing my video on Stir Fry Frozen Vegetables.
Thank you Uncle!

Hi Dan, thanks for the frozen veg tips! I've been watching your other videos and I was thinking it would nice if you made a video about Chinese chef knife skills. I just got a nice Chinese chef knife and I would like to learn how to make all the cuts for veggies and chopping up a whole cooked chicken or duck. Thanks for the great videos. Stay safe and healthy.
I wouldn't say I have high end knife skills, but I should make a video on different ways to use the Chinese cleaver. Different things you can use a cleaver show up in different videos, but it would be good to put it in one video. I have done a few videos chopping a chicken and it would be the same for a duck. If I come across those videos, I'll let you know. Thanks for your suggestions and hopefully I can do a video on Chinese cleaver in the near future. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry Frozen Vegetables.
Hi i am thinking about buying one, can you give any tips on the best one to buy, and how do you sharpen it regards ken in uk
Generally when frying rice on Wok we need to use little oil and is the rice the last thing to be inserted into the Wok after all vegetables/meat etc.?
Yes, you can cook the meat and vegetables first then put in the rice last. If you have lots of meat and vegetables, you can cook them separately from the rice. Thanks for viewing my video on Stir Fry Frozen Vegetables.
Looks tasty wow 👌
It was. Thanks for checking out ,my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Yum yum. Supper is ready
Yes, very fast. Thanks for viewing my video.
Nice ty v much
You are very welcome. Thanks for checking out my video.
How long did you end up cooking the vegetables in the wok? I think I overcook.
Have high heat setting on, if you can. Dry the vegetables as much as you can. Sample the veggies along the way to see if they are hot enough and cooked enough. Length of cooking time varies but under ideal cooking condition, I would say cooking time is 4 to 6 minutes. Thanks for checking out my video.
Mushrooms. ❤️👍
Yes, for sure. thanks for viewing my video on Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Another advantage of the frozen vegetables is that they are typically flash frozen very soon after harvest so they retain way more of their vitamins and minerals.
Yes, thanks for the tip. I'll try and remember to mention it if I do future videos on cooking frozen vegetables. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Everytime i put oil in my wok I end up smoking out my apartment. I use medium heat. Any advice as to how to avoid this?
Cooking at a lower heat might help. I usually open the windows a small amount as well. Thanks for checking out my videro.
Can't wait
Thanks for checking out my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables. Happy cooking!
Why do you put boiled water on top of frozen veggies? I usually take frozen veggies out of freezer and leave it aside for an hour or two. Does adding boiled water give more advantage or you adding it to thaw it faster?
Your way is better if you have the time. I didn't mention it but sometimes if you have unexpected guests or you want a quick stir fry, putting boiled water over frozen veggies is quicker. Thanks for your question. I'll try and clarify in future videos dealing with stir frying frozen vegetables.
@@ChineseCookingChannel - Great! Thanks for replying! Was just curious :)
Can I add shrimp if I don't have bacon?
Yes, you can use shrimp, or whatever you have, such as chicken, beef or pork. I just used bacon because I happen to have some from the day before. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables. Happy cooking!
I love everything but I would take out the bacon 🥓 in the end because of my waistline at my age😜😋😀
I know what you mean. I don't eat bacon very much but I really enjoy it when I do. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
@@ChineseCookingChannel Your video inspired me to finally cook that big bag of Costco Stir Fry frozen vegetables for the family... I needed some motivation and your candid insightful cooking made “eating vegetables” fun again. I had some strong pre-marinated wild Alaskan salmon with skins (also a Costco frozen section item) that I added olive oil, lemon 🍋juice, sea salt, sprinkled with rosemary and thyme. I just used a little olive oil and garlic for the vegetables, great time saving idea of yours by the way to defrost the vegetables in a strainer (warm filtered water from my PUR device on faucet worked very well), then added some microwave Trader Joe’s Jasmine (frozen rice) 🍚, big family on budget, gotta cook what I’ve got...everything turned out delicious and nutritious! I was happy so I subscribed to your channel. Your video helped make cooking vegetables fun again! Oh and I agree, bacon 🥓 is delicious, it’s a winter treat ingredient for my brussel sprouts recipe. 😁😛
Oh and I liked the ingredients that you you used that I was searching my whole kitchen for some ginger, et cetera.... I’m the adventurous foodie in my family, I couldn’t find my oyster sauce (I think my son threw it away) but I did find sesame seed oil and good quality soy sauce (that should have both been refrigerated) so I salvaged/refrigerated these gem ingredients and reorganized my pantry and refrigerator a bit. Lol 😆
@@FarewellAphrodite Thanks for sharing your recipe for frozen veggies. It sounds delicious. Bacon with brussel sprouts is a combination I need to try. Thanks for checking out my video on Frozen Veggie Stir Fry.
Yum
Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
You really need to fry those carrots before doing anything. They are very very soggy when frozen and they literally destroy every dish. You need to make sure all the extra water from the carrots is evaporated and it has a little char before adding it
Thanks for the tip! That's a good idea to improve this stir fry. I'll try it in future videos. Thanks for viewing my video.
@@ChineseCookingChannel thank you so much 🌺
What ingredient I can use instead of bacon?
You can use different kinds of meat, such as beef, chicken, pork. You can also use seafood, such as prawns or squid. Thanks for viewing my video on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
Can other meats be used.
Yes, for sure. You can also use seafood such as prawns. Thanks for checking out my video.
why is it that when i cook rice in my instant pot (using pressure setting), it doesn't seal because by the time it starts the cooking program, all the water is already absorbed by the rice, but not fully cooked. i'm adding equal part water to rice. maybe 7 cups rice to 7 cups water. is it too much rice at once? if i add more water it does seal, but it just becomes too soggy.
I have a 6 quart Instant Pot. Seven cups of rice seems a little high. Is that 7 standard cups or 7 cups using the mini cup that comes with Instant Pot? There's a line on the inside of the Instant Pot where it says you should not exceed your liquids. Equal parts of rice to equal parts water works for most types of rice. I like using long grain rice most of the time. My mom sometimes presoaks the rice for an hour or more, but I generally don't pre-soak. Try using a smaller amount of rice the next time you cook rice and see if it makes any difference. Let me know how it goes. I forgot to say- after you wash the rice, there is water in the rice- so you might add a little bit less water to account for the water in the rice after washing. Thanks for viewing my videos, including this one on How To Stir Fry With Frozen Vegetables.
I seal mine when i cook rice make sure you turn the valve to seal
Rice is always cooked - 1 cup rice x 2 cups water
What if you don't like Onions?
Just leave out the onions. Thanks for checking out my video.
