One tiny detail I love about Cal's inquisitor vision is that he's not just wearing any inquisitor outfit, he's wearing the same suit as the Grand Inquisitor
I'm so glad this game got Vader right. I was affraid we'd get a Vader dueling scene with cal almost beating his ass like in the force unleashed but thankfully respawn understood that cal would never stand a chance against Vader in his prime. This ending felt just right.
with starkiller it made sense, meanwhile cal is not exactly trained via multiple attempts on his life since 9 of age so it makes sense that vader is more like a boogeyman that one shots him.
When Vader came in I was like " Wait am I going to fight Darth Vader with 25% hp and no stim???" The way they made him enter really did justice to the sheer power of the character and the hopelessness of even the idea of a fight against him.
yes his entrance was perfect. the fear on the second sisters face how she went from maybe some hope to total fear and despair when she sensed and hear him was perfect. Also how neither cal nor cere knew who he was.
I love most in that moment when Trilla instead of pleading or anything just remembers all the shit thr empire did to her and their order "avenge us" was so bad ass in that moment!
I had it semi-spoiled. I was searching for something else about the game and one to the search predictions was "Jedi Fallen Order Darth Vader", but I tried not to take that as a confirmed spoiler because people could always search such things whether or not they're true.
I straight up cried during the order 66 flashback. You spend the entire game getting attached to Cal, and you get to see him at the most traumatic point in his life. He’s scared, he’s confused, his whole world is literally falling apart as his master tears the ship apart to make way for their escape. And then his master is mortally wounded protecting him in their escape, and he literally has to watch his master die in his arms for something he feels like he caused. Add on top of that the music from order 66 in episode 3, I couldn’t help but break down with cal as his master died. It was powerful and so completely heartbreaking.
During that finale, you can feel the fear when Vader enters. If you know the timeline, you know you can’t beat him. If you don’t know the timeline, then the pressure he has makes you understand you don’t want to fight him. And the return of the “dark deeds” soundtrack from EP3 was beautiful
Same, my gut instinct was “run away, you’re not qualified to take on vader 1 on 1 and if you do he’ll wipe the floor with you” there was a sense of fear and suspense when you see vader and while you try to run away from him. Reminds me of rebels in a way. The main jedi character might think he’s just another inquisitor until they realize he’s actually a sith lord
Great Star Wars game! It felt like a perfect combination of the Prequels, Clone Wars, Rebels, OT, and Sequels. With all the references and story themes
I know. I especially loved seeing saw And his rebels making use of the leftover clone wars stuff. And the vibe of the empire felt like an early version of Star Wars rebels. It was an outstanding game
@@Ghost.Gamer1 Wait a minute. How come they had normal AT-STs in this but then in Rebels they're all AT-DPs even in situations where AT-STs could/should be used?
Diana Cavendish weren’t AT-DPS used for police situations usually? For example why they were widely used on lothal. However I have no clue if what I’m saying is remotely true
@@ShizuruNakatsu Both walkers wer used at the same time and had different roles. The AT-DP was a police vehicle, the AT-ST had more of a military role, because it was better armed. The reason why we don't see AT-STs in Rebels is that they probably didn't want to use the budget to create a animation model for a second two-legged walker, just because it has more weapons. BTW the modified AT-DP that contained The Duchess in the season 4 premiere has AT-ST legs.
If you don't want to play the game you can always just watch the "Movie" version(All of the cut scenes stitched together). I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere.
Like others said their is “movie” version videos but I don’t think it covers all the databank story stuff. Also some of it I think is in gameplay conversations. You could try story mode. Might be easy enough. It’s an actual game setting.
It literally has something from every part of Star Wars. OT: Darth Vader & the Empire Prequels: Order 66 Clone Wars: The Nightsister massacre & Saw Guererra Rebels: The Inquisitors Sequel Trilogy: Ilum (the future Starkiller Base)
I thought it was heartbreaking that the night sister surrendered her planet and values for revenge on an enemy she had no idea had already been killed years ago, and everything was for nothing. Only thing that bothered me about her was she didn't join the crew until the end of the game
Illum being "confirmed" as Starkiller Base was just so fulfilling. Also everything with the Nightbrothers and Dathomir as a whole was really cool and makes sense once we get to Rebels being that it seems the whole planet is just abandoned aside from Maul and some zombies. Also also what happened to Cordova? There is a line at the end where it seems Cere and BD both don't know where he is so maybe sequel? Speaking of sequel, I also really like how they left this wide open for whatever they want to do next. In the sense of canon these characters can't be around much long but I still like how these characters are allowed to tell a story of their own for the time being and they didn't Rogue One it at the end. Give me more with the Mantis crew Respawn, DO IT!!!!!
I'll bet Eno is off searching for the Zeffo, to learn about the greater mysteries of the universe.. A good sequel might be for the crew to go after the Zeffo too in order to find a way to beat the empire, then that means they can be out of the story for a while. Also maybe they find the Zeffo and return to find the empire already gone.
Seripmac Trilla is more physically attractive yes but I dunno I like Merrian’s character more. I just feel bad for Trilla and am glad her suffering is finally over. Where as American I feel can have a happy future.
They need to literally nothing to do when you beat it other then fight for 20 seconds then run around again needs to be an arena mode (basically done this in story mode ) or just load the map with guys after u beat it games to good to just be nothing now
@@sharilshahed6106 there's nothing to do after you beat the game there needs to be way more enemies on all the planets after or have an arena type mode with endless waves or rounds or something
@@C-F98 I thought of the same but with Merrin and Cal, or Merrin, Cal and Cere, all three different playstyles and skill trees. Merrin would be like 90% nightsister magic / Force, Cal would be the middle-ground everyman and Cere would be 90% melee in combination with her blaster. You could choose before each planet who you want to play as, and in order to explore 100% of every planet, you'd perhaps need different characters to unlock different parts of the map. Certain missions would require a specific member of the crew, or maybe you could go as a team, there are many possibilities that would be reasonable. Or just take a more KotOR / Dragon Age / Mass Effect route and have one or two people with you in your party that you can choose before every mission so they are more useful in actual combat and puzzles.
The production time would be significantly less if they were to do a sequel, they have a lot of asset they can reuse and a satisfying combat system that doesn't need much changes bar maybe a few more force abilities. I absolutely loved the story and the game itself, I'm excited and confidant that there will be A Star Wars: Jedi II.
I think it would make more sense to add dlc as in a then you'll have all the ability in the skill tree that you had before so it would be easier for respawn to do dlc and then people would have to play the base game first so they would know the story. But if it is dlc i do want another 20hrs at least.
That timeline doesn't quite match up but I see what you mean. It would be more like 14 years down the line as Rebels Season 4 was only months before Rogue One/A New Hope.
@@sayfulislam42 I just want the Rebels characters to show up in a live action thing. As of now the connection between other forms of media and the movies feels as one-sided as the MCU was with the movies and tv shows.
It's one of the best, if not the best Star Wars have I've ever played. The story didn't grab me to begin with, but it ramps up pretty quickly and found myself heavily invested in the characters' journeys. I agree with your sentiment that it's somewhat about the trauma of the past and choices taken from these characters when they were only young. As this developed, especially towards the end, it resonated pretty strongly with me, as someone who has been traumatised in my past, and it made me hopeful of the choices available to me in the future. Not a message I expected to get from Star Wars. A surprise, but a welcome one.
You can get it at lots of planets, but the Bogano path is the best because it actually continues the story (Cal takes Cordova's old lightsaber to fuse with his own). On all the other planets there's no narrative to it; he just grabs a bunch of parts and somehow gets a second saber.
@@thewhiteboardist Yeah thats the reason i flipped, i was taking it with a grain of salt until now. I guess starkiller is a repurposed Kyber mine then.
@@thewhiteboardist That was my biggest annoyance with The Force Awakens. Starkiller Base's destruction or perhaps salvation should of been one of the climax's of the new trilogy. Instead it's simply blown up in the first movie. If it's Ilum, that's even more annoying, for how meaningful it could of been to the story arc.
Just finished last night. The Mando and this game gives me hope for some great stuff in the future. Now we just need a book that can have this rich of a story
One thing I wish they changed was the lightsaber customization in the beginning. I think it's cool and all, but when I got to Illum, and realized I got to make a new saber, I found myself regretting that I didn't keep the lightsaber looking like Jaro Tapal's the whole time. I feel like it would have so much more powerful to be given customization once you build your own. Yeah, that is late in game, but it adds to the narrative
Considering we haven't had that type of lightsaber customization at all since KOTOR 2 I'm happy the developers cared to put it in. But I think a sequel will flesh this stuff out
One of the great things about this game, is it confirms that Illum is actually Starkiller Base from The Force Awakens. If you fly back to the planet after completing the campaign and see the planets surface once you’re out of hyperspace, you can see the development so far. That fixes the plot hole of how the First Order built Starkiller Base so fast, when in actuality this game confirms it was in development for more like 60-65 years.
But if you want to complete 100% like me, you'll need to suffer. And it's giving me a headache when I needed to get back to the ship. It took likes ages to get there back.
I love the story, but it needs to be finished elsewhere, hopefully in a sequel. These characters need an ending of some sort. Also, despite finishing the story I'm still exploring and looking for all the bosses, chests, and secrets. I hope we get a New Game Plus soon, so all of these new powers I'm still unlocking aren't for nothing.
They definitely said they won't do a new game plus with the powers. I just wish they'd let us keep our points so as soon as we are able to get the powers we can unlock everything available at that time in the game:/
@@lucaleone4331 I just thought they meant there wasn't one in it, not that it would never happen. That seems like a huge missed opportunity then. I mean, you're not going to unlock every power before beating the story, by which time it's pointless to do so.
@@ShizuruNakatsu eh you can get decently close. I think I was only two powers off. If you 100% most planets or fight more you can grind some xp. But yeah if u dont then you wont end up with all the powers
I unlocked all of my skills by the time I got to return to Dathomir, but the game doesn't stop there, so now I have like 7 skillpoints that I can't spend, so me and my wallet are both open for a DLC with new skills and stuff if EA lets Respawn do their own thing like with the main game.
Im intrigue about what happened to ninth sister. In the archives of the game it says that she is probably not dead and Cal never says he kills her though. We will see.... I have spoken
Completely agree, I had high expectations coming into this game and those expectations were not only met but exceeded. This was Star Wars at its best. Would love an offshoot comic and sequel game!
This games story is probably one of the best Star Wars pieces we’ve ever gotten. The messages all throughout this game about the past and how to overcome that is honestly amazing. My favorite scene in the entire game is when cals about to give up on Illum and BD plays Cordova’s recording explaining that failure is not the end. Makes me tear up a little every time. This game means so much to me and I’ll always hold it in close regards. 10/10.
The ending chase from Vader had me on the edge of my seat. I though Cader had just tossed Cere into the lava to kill her. While I was sad, it made her return that much better. Plus it was awesome seeing how much more powerful Vader is than the Inquisitors. I’m also shipping Merrin and Cal too cause there’s a connection there and I just like them together
I loved the story so much, when the game was nearly over and then it ended up going to Ilum I was so excited. Very satisfied on the ending and it honestly left me with no feelings of needing more (as much as I'd love more content in a different game or whatever) I feel like this game did everything I wanted it to do.
It sort of needs more in a way though, in terms of the characters. I'm not saying all Jedi have to be dead before the time of A New Hope, but as it stands now we don't know where these characters are going and what they're going to do next, but we do know that the Empire knows about them, even Vader knows about them, and their ship is known to the Empire too. As well as the fact that Cal is done hiding, and embraces his destiny as a Jedi. You can't just have someone who is openly a Jedi fighting against the Empire, and known by Vader, but have that character survive the original trilogy - at least not without learning more about how and why.
@@ShizuruNakatsu Ezra survived 2 encounters with Vader, was clearly a Jedi Knight in the finale of Rebels even if he wasn't officially knighted and his whereabouts since are unknown. So... You can apparently do such things with the story, it just leaves the entire fanbase hanging for years.
I also like how the developers kind of teased what happened to the Zeffo. The first tomb you visit is a peaceful one, with a special monument created to show how the Zeffo began peaceful relations with Kashyyyk and its occupants. This displays how the Zeffo began their journey of greatness. Then you go to the second tomb, which was more about worship, pride and arrogance. It shows how the second sage was fond of displaying their power, and how their race became more arrogant in a certain way. The last tomb shows the finale of their cultural journey; the Zeffo have become so arrogant and prideful, lusting for power to the point that they turn on each other. In contrast to the peaceful first sage, the third one is a dictator who crushes his enemies. This eventually leads to ruin, as the last sage explains during the vision in the Vault. The Zeffo's tale is a tragic one.
I love this game so much. JFO is everything I hoped it would be, and it never gets tiring reminding my friends that it's not "just another shitty EA game". This game is actually brilliant, and I'd actually prefer to continue Cal's story if there's a sequel. I love Cal, Cere, Greez, Merrin, and BD-1. And I love the little Bogling stowaway which I named Ritz!! Ritz is so adorable and I'd love for there to be Bogling plushies. I'd buy my own little Ritz in a heartbeat!
I'm unsure about the ending. Unless they plan to make a sequel where Cal and Cere are killed off then theres no way that they should still be alive unless they stop being Jedi completely for whatever reason. Also, I somewhat wish that the final boss was The Grand Inquisitor instead of Vader. I feel like like he there was for fan service only. And I love the _Stinger Mantis_ and Greez Dritus.
Agreed on the part regarding the Grand Inquisitor. I'm glad that they made Vader all scary and powerful and the like, but we've seen plenty of him already. The Grand Inquisitor would've been a better fit, but people who haven't seen Rebels would've no idea what was up with the guy, and would've probably been stumped as why they couldn't duel him. It would've been much like the people who went "???????" when Maul showed up at the end of Solo - many Star Wars fans don't consume other media than the movies and the games.
I learned to accept there were more jedi than Luke a long time ago. That was canon before the EU reboot and even in new canon we've known for a while now that at least Ahsoka and Ezra are still alive at the time of ROTJ.
@@Robin_Glader Ahsoka was no longer a Jedi so as long as she's kept away from Luke then it's find for her to be around which Dave Filoni did. And without Kanan and the path he's chosen I don't know if Ezra can really be called a Jedi anymore. I think he will be something else.
Vader may of been a bit fan service but he was a good feature, he was powerful, he popped up menacingly, still surprised you... he was very horror movie villain like. "Escape" Vader for the most part was in charge of the Inquisitor program, but thats the thing, Vader knows they exist so any sequel serious escalation or they escape. There is also the unanswered question... What happened to Cordova? There is a ranking Jedi Master who dropped everything he had (his research, holocron, allies, robot) and just disappeared. Maybe Grand Inquisitor is chasing after Cordova!
I thought Vader's implementation was perfect. He was a force of nature and all you could do was run and hope to escape. He wasn't defeated and he really solidified the feeling of power and danger of the Empire that still loomed in spite of the heroes' victory and was a perfect representation of exactly why the holocron needed to be destroyed. Also, if you fly back to Ilum after the mission there, the landing sequence clearly shows that it is already well into it's transformation into Starkiller base.
General SkankHunt of Kekistan idk. There’s one dialogue bit so far I’ve heard where she mentions a fellow Nightsister she used to sneak away to make potions with and hoped they’d be together. Seems like she might be a lesbian or bisexual.
I work with this Brazilian kid who's 23 years old and looks exactly like Cal Ketis, Same eye color, same hair color & length, identical in every way! I should post his picture on reddit because it's crazy how similar they look.
One thing Fallen Order did really good was they didn't make Cal into a Luke, Rey, or Anakin. This crazy powerful force-wielder who could defeat anyone. Because they didn't, his character felt real. I was really worried he was going to defeat Vader, but they handled it well.
When Vader showed up, I was like ok now I know why Cal isn’t in Rebels or OT trilogy. I thought they did a good job showing that even you and Cere combined didn’t mean shit compared to Vader
The whole gang feeling like a family at the end didn't really feel earned to me. I didn't really connect with the rest of the gang since they felt like glorified taxi drivers for most of the game. I did start to warm to Merrin and Cere a little bit towards the end when they began to play more of an active role in the story rather than just chilling on the Mantis and letting Cal do all the work.
I will say this, the ending felt like a sequel hook than a conclusion. Not a problem, but could've been a bit more fleshed out. Maybe there could've been some post-story contents with side quests and extra interraction. Perhaps if there's a sequel they'd focus on both Cal and Cere as co ops or could flesh out the relations a bit more. Aside all that, I felt they did a fine job.
Fantastic story and direction. A classic Star Wars adventure. Also thought they did a great job with tying in material from other mediums and shows in a subtle manner
I think what makes Cal my favorite sw character is simply with the help of his friends and their insight throughout the game and at the end that it's the most logical decision to destroy the holocron and leave the destiny to the force. Not that its necessarily all of Luke's fault but it's literally laid out to you in the TLJ that restoring the past would only repeat the same mistakes or outcome of the order and that it's up to the force to forge a new destiny for the galaxy itself instead of trying to retread the same ground over and over again.
@@randomgamer625 ya that's the main theme and its altogether what puts the game together, I was just comparing a previous sw theme a bit with this game. But ya you're totally right
Just completed the campaign. Absolutely loved playing the game. It was a wonderfull Star Wars experience. The story of Cal going from a "bracca scrapper rat", to a knight of the jedi order was incredibly well written. The way Cal learns to reconnect with the force, via flashbacks gave us insight into how Cal came to be. I found the combat system very entertaining because it was so challenging at times. Cal genuinly is one of my favorite Jedi now. All the characters had an interesting past that was explored really well. Credit goes to all the people involved in the development of the game. I did have a few things i didnt like as much, but those are relatively small issues. I found the pathfinding and puzzles to be very tedious at times.(others might have found it a lot easier) And after you acquired the double bladed saber upgrade, you couldnt switch back to one lightsaber hilt. I know you can switch between double and single bladed. But when you switch to single bladed you still keep the two hilts, except you just activate one. I personally prefer the single hilt lightsaber. Although i understand why it would have been tedious to have an animation, where Cal takes off the second hilt. Would love for Respawn to work on Star Wars games in the future aswell.
The way they handle that finale was simply spectacular. They were like "you know that scene straight out of a horror movie from Rogue One?"... What if we let the player be the guy running for his life". Seriously it's Vader sequences like this that make you realize that the original trilogy really was hindered by the technology of the time and its just awesome that we can finally see the true terror that is Darth Vader. This game's narrative delivers in every conceivable way to me and gave me things I wanted, but also a cast and throughline that feels fresh and fun to explore in the future.
@@jameswg13 or atleast you see the massive carving out which is the same shape as the front of Starkiller base that houses both the base itself and the cannon.
TheFallinhalo yeah, it’s got the trench. It’s missing the coring, now maybe the First Oder went there but I thought they did it in a Different system in resistance.
The official title is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order so I’d assume the series would just be Star Wars Jedi, with different subtitles for subsequent games
i swear whenever i watch SW explained videos i end up hearing something unexpectedly deep, profound and end up pondering introspectively as a result, this is why i adore this channel!
I don't play games, but I wanted to experience the story, so I watched a person's game play through (almost four hours) like a movie. Wow, what a great stroy.
The game is incredible, if I had one complaint it would be that the game feels rather lonely, there are long stretches where you don't see another being, and I would have loved to have a bit more interaction with ordinary people on Kal's travels - maybe a few sidequests that give you the opportunity to help out locals in less grandiose but still important ways. Its a fairly minor gripe though, and I really enjoyed it overall.
Star Wars Jedi: as a brand is a great way forward. I’d love to see DLC for this game that were short missions of other Jedi during Order 66. Let us see how many died and who may have survived.
I suspect that Cal, Cere and all these other Jedi survivors the new cannon has be sprinkling across the galaxy will eventually help Luke to form his school.
Personally I would love a sequel still set in this time period where you get to visit "backwater" worlds like Latero, maybe Bracca and a few others and kick the Empire around a bit. It would be cool to see where Greez grew up after hearing so much about it.
I was thinking, there is totally room for a Jedi to be in the galaxy during the OT movies. Cal could head for the Unknown Regions. He could be on the other side of the galaxy from the Rebels
i know this is a fallen order video but THANK YOU for getting and explaining the message of last jedi. To many people think the message was let the past die, which they forget is said by the villian.
I loved the theme of failure being part of the journey (it fits the gameplay perfectly). It hits closer to home when you start heading towards the end and you realize that failing and redoing whole areas lead you to unlocking all your powers and making you a very competent player by the end. The advice i gave my friend who doesn’t normally play these ‘soulsborne’ type games was to stick with it and not to expect perfect run-thrus. There will be times when you’ll be out numbered, or get nailed by a cheap shot or just glitch thru surfaces. It won’t feel fair at times but that 6th attempt when you make it thru an entire area and reach the checkpoint and have skill points to upgrade thats when the game starts workin on you.
5:00 I think the message in Jedi Fallen Order and even for all of the Padawans after the Jedi Purge is a mix with the message that has always been in the original trilogy, which is hope; there is always hope even after one is broken. I’m a Christian, so I feel like the message resonates with me more. Or maybe that’s just how I came up with the theme and that’s only my take on the story.
I couldn't agree more about the themes, Alex. It's amazing how well they tied it all together. I just love the explorations of how these different people grieved. How they were affected by the fall of the Jedi. It adds so much weight to the Order 66 sequence in Episode III, because now we have a deeper understanding of how these lives were changed. It wasn't just a campaign to kill all Jedi, it was a campaign to exterminate any traces of their way of life. And so survivors would naturally be broken in all kinds of ways. I think this game and the Kenobi Disney+ show are going to work together beautifully.
I'm grateful to have had the chance to be apart of Cal's story. To take the journey with him and the crew of The Stinger Mantis. The trailer tagline of "Become A Jedi" is the truest statement if I've ever seen. I felt like I earned it. The progress into becoming a knight felt true to form and not gaudy as some older video games with Jedi have been. Watching him reconnect with the force as a way to heal from his trauma was not only incredible, but beautiful as well. For him and Cere. It actually surprised me to see a Star Wars story handle trauma in such an elegant way. And not forgetting to mention Taron Malicos; a character who felt like he snuck right out of Legends. What else can I say? I'm truly glad this is now apart of canon. PS: But those godforsaken Kashyyyk spiders can burn in a special place in digital hell. What a gigantic pain in the ass they were. lol
Honestly, I’m completely burned out on the tragic, ultimate sacrifice ending style. Star Wars was always about hope, redemption, and the heroes defeating the bad guys and getting the happy ending. Its the reason I couldn’t really get attached to these new characters till I knew they weren’t going to get killed off at the end.
I am so glad to hear that you liked the story of this game. As a very casual Star Wars fan I was worried I was the only one who loved it. I thought all the characters were GREAT and it was so awesome to see a Star Wars story taken seriously (no weird prequel Jar Jar stuff or Canto Bight lameness). It really had an original trilogy feel that I appreciated. I also really liked that most of the characters were original. It was cool to see the Star Wars universe expand a little bit. I can't wait for a DLC and/or sequel to this game!
This story, and this game overall, reminded me that good Star Wars content still exists. I’ve been so disheartened after everything that’s happened, from the Last Jedi backlash, to Battlefront two, and I really needed this game. The worst part is that I can’t ever go back to my original playthrough, as my Save File corrupted on Dathomir and I couldn’t save the game.
This game was absolutely superb. I've been a fan of all of Star Wars for a very long time. When they showed Dathomir I geeked out. When Cere said that Cal needs to rebuild his lightsaber I was like "Are we going to ILUM?!" then ILUM Showed up on the screen and I almost started Crying! A friend of mine and I kept saying "Man! I hope the color we get is unique. Yellow would be cool, those are canon right?" and not only do we get Yellow but every color of the rainbow and we got to choose which one we wanted it to be first. The same friend and I kept saying "Double bladed sabers great, but I'd love to see dual bladed" and at that moment Cal pulled them apart we screamed and cheered. I really wish Merrin had gotten more screen time but damn.. I want an announcement for Jedi Fallen Order 2 like.. last month, it's inevitable and it can ONLY get better from here. And Here is a pretty damn good starting point.
Yeah I did mine on Master...I did a lot probably 20 times to the second sister each time, 10 to the Ninth and 100s of times to the variety of wildlife in the game, damn spiders and toads. The empire was probably the easiest thing to fight in the game.
General SkankHunt of Kekistan I don’t know how. I did him in one or two goes. I was amazed, I’m like I’m actually good at this game now. Then the 2nd sister reminded me of who I am in the Fortress lol, 😆
I literally just finished the game for the first time, playing on Jedi Master difficulty, completeing everything to 100%. I clocked in at 70 hours. I died a LOT early on, and I took my time exploring and taking in the scenery. This game is AMAZING! Looks and sounds great, the music is great, the atmosphere of all the planets are great, I was not bored with exploration and combat for a minute, and I absolutely loved the story! The Second Sister is an amazing villain, I loved it how you sparred multiple times so you got to build your "relationship" with her. Dathomir is awesome, Merrin is great, everything is great. I really hope that this game will get a story DLC or sequel of equal quality! It could easily branch out into a slightly more rpg-way with more skills, force powers and perhaps either you could take a party with you á la KotOR or Mass Effect or maybe you could be jumping between Cere, Cal and Merrin during the story, each doing a mission on their own so you could experiment with different powers and playstyles. Anyhow, one of my favourite Star Wars games for sure. I want a Cal / Merrin romance. I only have three, very minor issues with the gameplay / story. ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** 1. The psychometry was a great addition, it's a lore-friendly way to give you lore, and it was utilized perfectly in the Vault on Bogano. I just wish more of it was incorporated into the actual gameplay for solving puzzles for example or getting the jump on certain enemies. 2. I wish the crew did more while you're away. Yeah Greez is great, he is the pilot so he sticks with the ship, but Cere really could have done something more visible and useful while you're away, same with Merrin, who I absolutely adore, and she was probably the most useful since she is technically only with you for one mission towards the end. 3. This is the big one, ***spoilers ahead again*** I actually kind of wish Cere had died in the end. Her return in the hallway was the only time I said "heh, convenient" and her death would have made Cal's decision in the end all the more heavy.
Everyone always surpasses the BD-1 scene on Ilum where the last of his projections show you that BD-1 never knew he was meant to follow Cal all along. You were led to believe BD-1 knew by Cere and Cordova that Cal would be the saviour. But the projection image shown that in fact BD-1’s memory was wiped. I thought that was a really cool twist that everyone passes over
Alex, about the Ilum imperial trench, that blew my mind as it seems the Empire was starting to build Starkiller Base but then the First Order either finished it or just used the finished product? Has this ever been mentioned anywhere before? Find it fascinating that the Empire started it.
I just finished it last night. Gotta say, I haven't been this blown away by a Star Wars narrative in a video game this much since Knight's of the Old Republic. It's everything I could've hoped for and more. My only gripe is I wish Merrion could have joined the crew a little earlier before the end. But also, once she joined, I followed the narrative straight away instead of going to other planet's to pick up loot. So those inside/outside ship conversations are happening post-game instead but it's fine. Onboard for a sequel!
When it was spoiled for me that Vader showed up in the end, I assumed Cal was dead from the start. Up until the moment you start running from him, I thought you were supposed to futilely try to fight him, and die on your feet, refusing to yield, destroying the holocron in the process. The fact that they actually escape from Vader bothers me. That the Mantis gets off-planet after destroying a major fortress right under Vader's nose strains credibility. I'd have no problem with the cast surviving to the end if Vader had never appeared, but his presence should mean that these characters can only hope to die proudly; even if they manage to leave Nur, is Vader going to just give up? Say "Well, I did my best, guess there're just two Jedi - one potentially very powerful - with a list of Force-sensitive kids, on the run and free to revive the Order"? He would hunt them down personally at this point, without question.
@@sharilshahed6106 Yes, but if a Star Wars game gets a sequel it's going to be a trilogy (unless its received poorly, like The Force Unleashed 2). Which means Vader would be spending an embarrassingly long time trying to kill this one particular Jedi who, at least to me, was compelling because of how average he was.
You realise that once a ship jumps to hyperspace there's no way of knowing where it went, right? Without a tracking device attached to their ship how was Vader supposed to follow them?
@@Candlemancer Fair enough. Merrin's magic got them in and probably got them out too, plus Cal likely disabled any point defense security when he blew the power. Still, Vader shouldn't have let them escape him to begin with. He messed around and at one point got shocked by a tiny pet droid. It had too many Rebels vibes for me.
The only thing I didn't like was that in some ways this game felt like it was originally supposed to be longer and got cut down in size a bit. It felt a little odd having Merrin join your crew so late in the story with so little left to do after that point. I can only hope that if it did get scaled down, that means there's plenty of material to work into a bigger sequel.
The fun part is that if the Kyber Crystal hadn’t split apart then Cal wouldn’t have been able to make that awesome improvised lightsaber that splits apart, since one of the sabers would turn off when divided if it had only one crystal. The Force really knows what it’s right.
I just finished the story last night and finally, a sole single player, story driven original story. Like you said at the end of the video, give us more!
With Cal now being a Jedi Knight it’d be great to see him continue his fight against the Empire with various rebel groups like Saw Gerara or someone else’s group while at the same time continuing his training to become a Jedi Master, this would open up to more force powers and more advanced lightsaber combat and even battling more powerful bosses like maybe Vader or the Grand Inquisitor
I am really hope we got some version of Knights of the "New" Republic in some form. Yes, Luke founded the temple decades after Episode VI, but if we know something the canon can alter and be better some times. Pretty sure had other apprentices which carried the mental forward, but has to wait until after the Rise of Skywalker.
Are we not talking about the fact that Ilum is basically 100% now confirmed to be starkiller base? 'Cause I thought that was super important to canon that they showed the trench from the ground and when returning to the plant from space etc.
You can acquire the duel blade after you escape the arena as well. Cere will mention going back to the first planet, Bogono, and you can find Cordovas lightsaber July and add it there even before Dathomeir or Ilum.
I wonder what story of the month for November will be... No, I totally agree with you and I was so relieved. I'll be honest, I was as much nervous as I was excited about this game. Star Wars games that are fun and have a great story have been so hard to come by, and because of that I was worried this game might be either one of those things or the other. But happily it's emphatically both. I loved the pacing of Cal's reconnection to the Force and with each new power you rediscovered you felt like you were becoming more of a Jedi as the map got easier to traverse and the combat became easier to manage. Crucially, though, you never felt over-powered - even at the end game with all the powers and skills unlocked you have to be considered. And all of that was embellished by the flashbacks of his tutelage with Jaro Tapal. I thought the Order 66 sequence was awesome and, even though you knew it was coming, you could strongly empathise with the fear and confusion as the clones turned on them. I'm the same as you. Could keep gushing. That paragraph was only supposed to be a sentence. Like you say: brilliantly written and designed, beautifully acted. Total triumph and I really hope there's a sequel or just another Respawn Star Wars title.
This is the best Vader entrance ever. And that includes Rogue One. There is nothing more intimidating than that breathing and watching the primary antagonist of the story up to that point get duffed in one shot. EDIT: From the game's tactical guide: 'Escape is the only chance of survival.' 'Encounters with this machine-like man are rare, and mostly deadly.'
I love the story and all but there was one thing that kept bugging me. Whenever I fought any purge troopers they would always scream something along the lines of “I got you now, traitor” why would they call Cal a traitor?
Jedi Fallen Order 2 Rough Outline. In the opening, Cal is investigating some ruins for an old artifact a dealer will pay top dollar for. The crew needs to eek out a living so Cal has to find treasures for clients. During this mission the Imperials show up looking for a component to an unknown terror weapon (the same one his client wants). The Imperials walk away with it. The Crew's interest is peaked and decide to follow the Imperial supply lines and back trace the line of corrupt political leaders and Moffs funding this monster (Just like what Thrawn does in the novels). Learning of its code name, Cal takes a few levels to discover it's origin (Geonosis) construction. The Grand Finale is finding the weapon but be chased off by the Imperials and again Lord Vader. The final scene is where Cal meets a Rebel Agent named Cassin Endor. Who will "look into it" All the while you could be dropping hints about the Alliance being formed, the political infighting, and still make room for more Inquistors or something worse...the Emporer's Hand perhaps? Hint hint. Throw in some romance between Cal and Merrin. Mother Talzan being in the background etc
I adored the story. It moved me. I now care about each and every character in this game as much as I once did for Delta Squad or Starkiller. This was made by fans who pay close attention to the drama and the lore, and it was legitimately good. My only gripe was the ending. I wanted it to end in a boom. Yet it ended in a flash. The last sequence is brilliant, but the actual ending was really weak and a bit rushed. If they release story DLC I’ll buy it in a heartbeat. Yes, a first for me in an EA game. Hell, I can not wait for a sequel too. It was just too good!!!!. And I understand the meaning behind that story, it was all about the journey. Yet I think the actual fade out to credits could’ve been handled a bit better.
I believe his vision of losing his students and becoming an inquisitor was true. Eno Cordova also had a "vision of doom" about the jedi order from that same temple, and it came true. That temple has a different purpose than the one on Dathomir. It is actually meant to show a real future.
One tiny detail I love about Cal's inquisitor vision is that he's not just wearing any inquisitor outfit, he's wearing the same suit as the Grand Inquisitor
Oh damn that's mad
The only sad part abut that part was they didn't give him an Inquisitor lightsaber.
@@StuartLugsden it does color your lightsaber metal totally red
@@mysticwizard1943 Still not an inquisitor design tho is it?

legit. Was starting to feel pretty strong then Vader turns up Im like NOPE
*sweaty hands moment*
I've seen this comment so many times
I'm so glad this game got Vader right.
I was affraid we'd get a Vader dueling scene with cal almost beating his ass like in the force unleashed but thankfully respawn understood that cal would never stand a chance against Vader in his prime.
This ending felt just right.
Shit yo, I barely stood my ground against Trilla.
I personally felt it should've ended with Cal destroying the holocron before dying to Vader.
I like how he suggested Cal should nope on out of there and Cal just accepted that's the only plan.
@@XiaNingTian I mean, he tries to fight him at least haha.
with starkiller it made sense, meanwhile cal is not exactly trained via multiple attempts on his life since 9 of age so it makes sense that vader is more like a boogeyman that one shots him.
Also how neither cal nor cere knew who he was.
longley62 cere was tortured by Vader and that‘a who broke her. So she knew who he was just no his name, that’s why she said “it’s him”
I mean Cal had a hard time with Trilla. So him fighting Vader? Nahhhh
@@hunternicholson9953 I think this is right cause when she talks about who tortured her she describes him as "a walking shadow"
I love most in that moment when Trilla instead of pleading or anything just remembers all the shit thr empire did to her and their order "avenge us" was so bad ass in that moment!
I got spoiled on Vader’s appearance before I bought the game because of a TH-cam thumbnail. Got it on launch day as well.
Same here so it unfortunately ruined the surprise :(
Unlucky pal
I had it semi-spoiled. I was searching for something else about the game and one to the search predictions was "Jedi Fallen Order Darth Vader", but I tried not to take that as a confirmed spoiler because people could always search such things whether or not they're true.
I got it spoiled by the credit on the IMDB page
yep those are brutal , i saw him either in the thumbnail
Don’t forget to mention that he uses not only Tapal’s but Cere’s saber components to create his own saber
I wish that you were able to switch Cere's switch to something else. But at least it doesnt look completely bad.
@@Ian-kk9dwThat bothered me too. I can change the emitters individually (double blade) but can only change the switch on one side.
If you don't get the double saber on Dathomir, and instead go back to Bogano, Cal uses Cordova's lightsaber.
Ian 0912 You can!
@@Ian-kk9dw there's an option to toggle the switch on that part of the saber to match the one you choose to use.
Yes! Plus the fact the game was really quite challenging, in my opinion, I was like nah, I haven't got a chance if I have to fight him.
When I heard that breath, I thought, 'Well, that's how Cal dies, and why he wasn't in New Hope or Rebels.
Not only that but, unlike the Force Unleashed games, he isn't even a boss fight, it's just Vader yeeting Cere into a pit and steamrolling Cal.
I was honestly lowkey a little hoping they’d both die against Vader in a sacrificial way but still good either way
Great Star Wars game!

@@ShizuruNakatsu
Both walkers wer used at the same time and had different roles.
The art of JFO book states that the planet Nur is in the Mustafar system

I was 100% sure that the old man on Dathomir was Eno Cordova. When it turned out he wasn't, I was genuinely surprised.
Rocko Steel Where was it confirmed? I didn’t find the connection between Ilum and Starkiller Base in the game.

I'll bet Eno is off searching for the Zeffo, to learn about the greater mysteries of the universe.. A good sequel might be for the crew to go after the Zeffo too in order to find a way to beat the empire, then that means they can be out of the story for a while.
Ahsoka looking for ezra and thrawn, that would be cool
The production time would be significantly less if they were to do a sequel, they have a lot of asset they can reuse and a satisfying combat system that doesn't need much changes bar maybe a few more force abilities.
I absolutely loved the story and the game itself, I'm excited and confidant that there will be A Star Wars: Jedi II.

Okay, I knew about Dathomit but it’s cool that you can get it on Kashyykk too
Are we not going to talk about another ominous thing about Ilum? Mmmm?
Are you talking about what looks like a giant trench being excavated? Because i flipped shit when i saw that.

Books already hinted that Ilum and Star Killer are the same. Both are 660 km. This confirmed it.
Apart from material, I didn't customise mine until Ilum, so that worked out for me!
I got all of them before the end of Dathomir.
I unlocked all of my skills by the time I got to return to Dathomir, but the game doesn't stop there, so now I have like 7 skillpoints that I can't spend, so me and my wallet are both open for a DLC with new skills and stuff if EA lets Respawn do their own thing like with the main game.

Not gunna lie, I might like cal more than luke.
I am pretty sure that what happened to the Zeffo is supposed to mirror the fall of the Jedi.
@@Robin_Glader Hell, in the Force Collector book it was revealed that a Jedi had survived until TFA!
"Escape"
Vader for the most part was in charge of the Inquisitor program, but thats the thing, Vader knows they exist so any sequel serious escalation or they escape.
Merrin is the best and I sure hope they continue her story in some way.
They will i hope, and i am 100% certain that she will hook up with cal if the sequel happens
General SkankHunt of Kekistan idk. There’s one dialogue bit so far I’ve heard where she mentions a fellow Nightsister she used to sneak away to make potions with and hoped they’d be together. Seems like she might be a lesbian or bisexual.
@@amandalogan89 bisexual probably, i mean look how she hugged cal at the end lol
I work with this Brazilian kid who's 23 years old and looks exactly like Cal Ketis, Same eye color, same hair color & length, identical in every way! I should post his picture on reddit because it's crazy how similar they look.
Cal is modeled after Cameron Monaghan, aka a real life person. Wont be surprising if he has a lookalike in another place.
Bro I just googled Cameron Monoghan, and this Brazilian looks more like Cal and more like Cameron than Cameron looks like Cameron.
Star Wars Explained: *uploads spoiler discussion*
Me: I’ve been looking forward to this
The sequel ought to be called “Rising Order”.
Following Luke as the player character, as he gathers Ezra, Ahsoka, Cal, Cere and Quinlon Vos to restart the Jedi Order.
Please no, there's enough games and movies with "Rise" in the title.
I mean considering he had a hard time with Trilla I never thought he would fight Vader
Jedi 2: rising order, Jedi 3: new order. I hope they make Jedi fallen order a trilogy.
Makes sense that you kind of do everything though, you’re the jedi, they’re not
I will say this, the ending felt like a sequel hook than a conclusion.
Your Girl Gavin well actually it’s using both the past and the future to make a new path at least that’s what I always though
I found the pathfinding and puzzles to be very tedious at times.(others might have found it a lot easier)
And after you acquired the double bladed saber upgrade, you couldnt switch back to one lightsaber hilt.
What about Ilum being a Starkiller Base?
Seemed to confirm it for me
@@zray3 if you go back to ilum it shows it becomes starkiller base
@@jameswg13 or atleast you see the massive carving out which is the same shape as the front of Starkiller base that houses both the base itself and the cannon.
@@jameswg13 what?
TheFallinhalo yeah, it’s got the trench. It’s missing the coring, now maybe the First Oder went there but I thought they did it in a Different system in resistance.
Vader actually brought this presence of fear. I was damn near scared😂
The official title is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order so I’d assume the series would just be Star Wars Jedi, with different subtitles for subsequent games
You didn't even bring up that it is finally revealed that Ilum is most assuredly Starkiller Base!
i swear whenever i watch SW explained videos i end up hearing something unexpectedly deep, profound and end up pondering introspectively as a result, this is why i adore this channel!
I don't play games, but I wanted to experience the story, so I watched a person's game play through (almost four hours) like a movie. Wow, what a great stroy.
would love a sequel. it’d be great to see the GI and inquisitors hunt them in a 2nd story
Before Cal destroyed the holochron, my first thought was that the groupt would lead all the kids in the great unknown. But that didnt happen.
Been thinking the same, that this is a perfect platform for telling more stories!
I would *love* a game about Luke’s adventures after Episode 6. His mission in Battlefront 2 was the highlight of that campaign.
No mention of Chris Avallone and his role on helping shape the story.
Ill come back in like 80 hours when I finally beat this game (boy this game is tough).
are you on grand jedi master difficulty
@@the_kekromancer9779 no i just suck
Yeah I did mine on Master...I did a lot probably 20 times to the second sister each time, 10 to the Ninth and 100s of times to the variety of wildlife in the game, damn spiders and toads.
The empire was probably the easiest thing to fight in the game.
@@M5YUILL i failed the most on malicos on the same difficulty as you, he was even worse then the second sister imo
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
I thought that was a really cool twist that everyone passes over
I’m not the only one who went back to bogano after the first zeffo mission and found the second blade attachment right??
I agree vader is a ruthless wrecking machine i was honestly dissapointed vader didn't kill me when i completed it last night
Hence a potential sequel
Merrin was definitely my favorite character. I wanna learn more about her and her people
I really hope they add some dlc or make another game, I think Merrin deserves more time, and I like the idea of Cal and Merrin
The Gladiator arena and Vader poping up got me the most excited ive ever been for a video game in years. So much fun!
EDIT: From the game's tactical guide:
'Escape is the only chance of survival.'
'Encounters with this machine-like man are rare, and mostly deadly.'
5:18 You can actually get the double-bladed lightsaber MUCH earlier, on Bogano.
I love the story and all but there was one thing that kept bugging me. Whenever I fought any purge troopers they would always scream something along the lines of “I got you now, traitor” why would they call Cal a traitor?
Man you have the best star wars channel in the wolrd, i am from Brazil and i wish that we have a star wars channel so good here
Jedi Fallen Order 2 Rough Outline.
Who will "look into it"
All the while you could be dropping hints about the Alliance being formed, the political infighting, and still make room for more Inquistors or something worse...the Emporer's Hand perhaps?
