Delivered to a Wal-Mart distribution center in Red Bluff, Ca. last night, I haul intermodal for Hub Group. They have an employment sign outside the guard shack, says $110k a year.
We have Crete driver that ran the stop sign in front of me in our yard. that is the very reason why walmart drivers never make that kind of mistake. Those kind of driver will always be driving like that outside, retire with few accidents or be dead because they are just careless.
Large corps pay well until there are no small carriers left then all the benefits that attracted drivers disappear and they control the market. Its better to take a loss in the short term to ultimately gain control
Right now I have 30 months experience if I count the 2 months I was driving with my trainer. Does that count towards the 30 required? I seriously cant wait to apply man
I work at a DC that has a driving training program. I have a couple friends that have become drivers and they like it alot. I just can't do it because of the hours. Walmart drivers just work too much for my taste, 60- 70+ hrs a week. I work 3 12 hr days a week and then off 4 days. Sure I don't get paid nearly as much but I have vastly more time off. Walmart drivers are the best in the biz though.
@@bigrigKO unlimited hands-free Bluetooth usage is allowed. Just no cell phone usage while in the yard, at a vendor, in heavy traffic, or bad weather. Common sense stuff. Absolutely no texting allowed while driving, including voice to text.

@@cottonmercer25 I've been down to our DC in Sutherland, VA a handful of times in 5 years, and I'm up into northern Maine fairly often, like every few months or so. My main stomping grounds are NY, PA, CT, MA, VT, & NH. Occasionally I'll venture outside of that circle, as the need arises.
@@JeffLane-m5s I knew a guy that would actually end his day by parking his truck at the store in my hometown, then go home, then when it's time to go back to work he would just drive back down to the DC and pick up his next load.
I did applied to a Walmart DC near my area but wasn’t selected. I have 8 years of verified OTR experience and all the endorsements on my license. I’m not sure if my area is flooded with good drivers or the fact I live about 2 hours to the DC I applied to. Do you think that could be the case?
@@T1miguel1T As long as you live within 250 mi of the dc, you should be good. Some DC's across the country are at capacity with drivers. They have a waiting list of people wanting to get in. That may be the case with you.

I’ve a question, I’ve only ever done dry van freight. Does Walmart train on reefers? I don’t think I’ll be doing reefer where I’m at anytime soon, I’m in a dry van dedicated account.
@@Kevo1993 That's simply not true. I was a flatbedder, and never pulled a reefer, dry van, or hazmat in my life before coming to Walmart. I STILL have yet to pull a hazmat.
@@johnbaron3070 Yes they go over the reefer operation. No prior experience is necessary. I only pulled a flatbed before coming to Walmart. You're given basic instructions on how to set or change temperatures and such. Your mentor can also provide training in real time during your two week mentorship.

(TH-cam) I have some questions for you: I currently work at a Walmart in Hoover-Alabama, I have all my documents and papers in Rules but I am HISPANIC. I want to know if Walmart's internal training program for new truckers is active here (in ALABAMA). I HAVE BEEN DRIVING 18 AND 22 WHEEL HEAVY DAILY TRUCKS IN MY COUNTRY FOR MANY YEARS I want to enroll in Walmart's internal training program because I do not have a CLASS A CDL. Do you know: WHERE, WHEN AND HOW I can start the training. I work the night shift. From 10 at night to 7 in the morning stocking merchandise on the shelves in the hallways. I am afraid to ask my direct supervisor and my store manager for this information because I fear that instead of helping me. Maybe they just discourage me. And just advise me to forget about that idea. I fear that they are worried about running out of staff, among other things. I am a father with three beautiful daughters and I am truly passionate about being a truck driver. I hope you can understand me and help me with the information. @@anng9749 It doesn't really work that way. You'll be on a weekly schedule with a set start time each start day, so the distance to home doesn't matter. If you work Thur-Mon, you go home on Monday and don't return until thursday, regardless of how far or close you live. I kind of understand what you're asking, but it's hard to answer. In short, no you aren't given any credit for how far away you live.

@@anng9749 having a 90-minute one-way commute myself, I understand where you're coming from. It's still totally worth it for me. I may not have explained it quite right. Keep in mind that you'll still have two full days off, regardless of where you live. Your commute won't come out of those 48 hours. You will commute home on your go-home day, then have two full days off, then commute back on your start day the following week. Let's say you knocked off a little early on your go-home day (something most of us do). You then have the rest of that day at home, plus your two full days off, before returning to work on your start day. I guess what I'm trying to say is your weekends will be no different or shorter than a regular 9 to 5 average job.

Bingo a 100k for a driver is nothing for them especially after the employee has to pay taxes etc

Private fleets exist to insure customer service
15 years accident free, shame the nearest DC from me is 4 hours away.

Walmart doesn’t train on reefers. If you work for Walmart, you would have had prior experience with both a dry van, reefer, and hazmat.

Some of these drivers out here need speed limiters. A lot bad attitudes as well.
