    Our jeep we didn't worry about fuel mileage but we get 13 to 14 hwy.we have a lift 40 tires Dana 60 axels floating axels front and rear lockers 538 gears now we just changed the 513 out.we have the 6.4 hemi engine and the 8 speed automatic transmission. No death wobbles. We run 75 and 80 on hwy and get between 13 to 14 miles per gallon. Our set up wasn't cheap for sure but we have fewer break downs on and off road.we live in texas.

    That Jeep looks bad ass... like a mini monster truck. Adding some spacers may help with the rubbing when you're turning those massive tires. However pushing the wheels out will make it more likely to kick up mud, dirt, and gravel on the sides and that pretty paint job might suffer. Still a sweet jeep though. Thank you for your service.

    • @mattbrew11
      @mattbrew11 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      dads_that_wheel the ability to lock up breaks is not in any way the issue. Try coming down a 5% grade or an emergency stop in the rain. I have a JT on 38s with much better brakes than a JL and there’s zero chance it’s beyond adequate. 40s are worse all the way around

    • @mattbrew11
      @mattbrew11 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      dads_that_wheel I said the scariest part about this is 40s on stock brakes. Go tell dodge their one ton brakes absorb the same amount of energy as a wranglers because of ABS. They’re gonna laugh at you long enough to drive that extra chromosome out of your DNA
      Still waiting on that 60 - 0 distance. It added an average of 28 feet to our stopping distance. That’s 20% and that’s on 28lb wheels and tires that weight 12lbs less than these trail grapplers do.

    Why do people insist on running 40s without the necessary upgrades needed? Especially if youre gonna wheel the damn thing. Stock Rubi D44s...nothing over a 37, maybe a 38 Patagonia and that's pushing it, anything more and it's time for tons. If you want to break your rig on the Trail then that's your business but it's people like you that break down on the trail with a busted axle shaft, shredded ring & pinion or snap your sector shaft like a toothpick and jam it up for everyone else is where I take up issue. It's irresponsible and careless to others on the trail and for what...because they're "trendy", 40s are the new 37s? Can't even steer big rubber proper without ram assist and that's just regular daily driving, much less with diffs locked, pinned up against the rocks. At the very least, chromos, truss and gussets.
    So the guy that you got the setup from told you he wheeled 40s on a stock carrier without issue? Great sales pitch...sucker born every minute, smh. Some people just need to learn the hard way. Once again, you want to mangle your tailgate just for the sake of running 40s..your business but who's at risk when you're on the interstate and a 40" tire gets ripped off a carrier that was meant for 33s and starts bouncing down the freeway?

    • @SarahSmith-hd8kd
      @SarahSmith-hd8kd 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with most of what you said. I am sure though that to run 40" tires and turn properly on any rig that isn't an old k5 or an F-350 or something full size like that something like a JL Jk or an XJ or such a rig anyone needs to have a hydro assist steering setup to turn properly and safely right? I am sure that means if even with one tons maybe more so right or no?

      ApexPredator_JKU WRONG - people like you are the problem: your negativity & general shit attitude is what’s wrong with too many Americans these days. I have 35s on my Jeep and only do light trails. This guy can have 40s and set it up however he wants; it’s his time & money.
      Your whole point about people breaking down on trails because they haven’t built their rigs to your standards is beyond idiotic. I’ve seen guys with dedicated crawlers break down on the trail - it’s part of what you accept when hitting the trails ... shit happens. Go take some anger management courses, but piss off & quit hating on people. Your negativity is tiresome.

    Wow lots of haters. Looks good, but I'm gonna say he may not wheel it as hard as I do my f350 but hey, it's his. Alot of people dont want to go out and spend money that they dont have to just because society says they need to. It seems most people just buy stuff for jeeps just because of what someone else told them to buy instead of finding out for themselve. Alot of people dont drop off of 2ft ledges like they have in moab or going fast over whoops which I could see bending the spare tire mount. It's all in how you "offroad". Some people just like 40s for the look and just do light wheeling like overlanders. I wouldn't think you'd need ram assist for that. So I'm all in favor of just getting offroad and seeing breaks because everyone's wheeling styles arent the same😉

    Hey man, Nice Jeep. So after two years have you had any issue with the 40's? We have a 2017 JKU and I'm thinking of doing the same thing with a few different mods. (truss, 5:13 gears, Dana 44 front upgrade, Terra Flex Big Brakes) I can't see spending $15k - $18k just to run 40's.

      The Boosted Fam I’m curious about that. As a former tire tech I wouldn’t trust it until I saw them in a tire on a balancer. From what I’ve seen most mechanics just don’t want to spend the time to balance large tires.
