    Are you thinking about building a campground? Glamping in Maine is on the rise and this channel is all about how to build a campground in Sanford Maine. Campground construction is not an easy process and involves many steps and lots of communication with the town and state officals as well as the neighbors.
    Campgrounds are typically opposed in populated areas by neighbors who don't want them in their back yard. It is very important when building a camping or glamping experience to be sensitive to the enviroment as well as the neighbors who will border the park.
    This channel is all about our journey on how to build what we hope will be one of the best campgrounds in Maine. We are in Sanford Maine. My family and I purchased over 100 acres that connects to a 30 acre pond called Sand Pond. This channel is dedicated to the journey we are on with the entire process.
    We want to build one of the best campgrounds in southern maine for hiking and exploring nature.
    Topics we plan to cover in depth include:
    * find the land and check zoning laws. Speak with code enforcement
    * land survey
    * identify potiential wet land and conduct studies that check for vernal pools
    * have wild life studies performed
    * communicate with all neighbors that you are the new owners of the property
    * campground design and consultants
    * clearing the land and staying a recommended distance from neighbors and wet lands
    * add fencing to the land
    * hiring an engineering company
    * meetings with the neighbors
    * communicate frequently with code enforcement
    * water requirements
    * dealing with sewerage in a new campground
    * building roads
    * calculating impervious surface
    Subscribe to this channel if you want to learn about building and managing a campground.
    Airports: 45 minutes to Portland (PWM) and to Portsmouth (PSM). 90 minutes to Boston (BOS) which is best to use in the winter. If you have your own airplane, Sanford has it's own airport with a very long run way. Our web site: www.sandpond.com

    Nice, fun, but how is the campground progressing?

      After I submitted our plans in June for the campground, the neighbors were able to convince the city past a retroactive moratorium to stop our development. Now we are providing the city planning team with details on what an updated campground ordinance (E.g. setbacks) might look like. My neighbors are also submitting details to update the ordinance but, the neighbors want to stop our campground, not just update the ordinance. They are sort of like a sheep in wolfs clothing. Regardless, we are pressing forward and should know more in November.
