The Yorkshire Ripper Victims of Roundhay Park and the Jimmy Savile Connection. Leeds

  • In February 1977, Peter Sutcliffe, yet to be dubbed the Yorkshire Ripper, officially became a serial killer as he took the life of 28 year old Irene Richardson. The murder took place on Soldiers Field at Roundhay Park in Leeds. 9 months previously, Sutcliffe had assaulted Marcella Claxton at the same location, but she was one of the lucky ones and survived.
Bizarrely, living immediately next to the location of the attacks at the time, in a penthouse apartment, was TV presenter and DJ Jimmy Savile.
Over the last decade a question has often been asked,. Was Savile an aide to Sutcliffe in these attacks on Roundhay Park. ?

Hi. Thanks for watching. I'll have a think about the best way to approach that one. I've got a fairly packed few months but will keep it in the list and give it some thought. Thanks so much

If Savile wasn’t involved,(and again no surprise if he was)..I’m sure he would have liked the evil that happened within he’s view..
The questions that still remain about how the police started to suspect Savile and how they came to see Savile as a person of interest involving the Yorkshire Ripper crimes..Was Savile’s name put forward by a tip and if so who gave the tip..From what I know about the Savile connection and is sometimes overlooked is the police knew Savile was involved with shady and sick acts when investigating a Savile connection..My opinion as of now is the attack and murder in that park and Savile living within a very short distance was a morbid coincidence..But again,in time if more came to light there would be no surprise..
Thank you again for a very good video, which was filmed and explained very well..All the best..

Thanks for that. Like you, I also feel this was just coincidence, but, yes, I know Savile was questioned over this at the time. The fact he casually befriended the jailed Ripper later on also seems very suspect. Evil times. Evil men. Both thankfully gone. Thanks for watching

That's good to know. It's done quite well has that one. These ones, there's always a fear they'll offend or upset ...but I try to make them as sensitively (rather than as sensationally) as possible. Thanks for watching 🤘

Although it's a good yarn Jimmy Savile had absolutely nothing to to with the murder of Irene Richardson and was never spoken to by police as a suspect for her murder. Its true that Police conducting door to door enquiries did call at his penthouse flat overlooking Roundhay Park looking for potential witnesses and at that time he wasn't actually home. Saville was later reported to be absolutely horrified by what had happened stating he felt the murder had occured in his front garden. Saville (a patron of Broadmoor hospital) did meet Sutcliffe in 1991 when the infamous picture was taken with Frank Bruno who was visiting in order to open a new gym in the secure unit. It's not clear how many times on other occasions Saville and Sutcliffe actually met.

Yeah, that's fair.....My video never claims he was involved, rather than the papers picking up on it after the stories broke. However, just the fact there was even one connection ...and saying he felt sorry for serial killers in jail....would cause suspicion. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
