Just because the baby choose the nice puupet doesnt mean it has any sense of morality, it just choose the puppet which was more likely to be nice to the baby (in the babies view). Even the most amoral asshole would probably prefer to keep people around him who are nice to him. So if one puppet is giving out free candy and the other one is stabbing other puppets of course the babies would prefer the nice one. Doesnt mean the baby wouldnt stab you itself if it had the chance.
